  1. MSAA was nice before DCS 2.5, since then it's pretty much incompatible (it sort of works, sometimes, depends). I don't really like the idea of upscaling either but generally speaking DLSS works very well (though it also depends on the module since more modern aircraft display issues with text rendering when it is enabled). I get 70-90fps with DLSS enabled, depending on how many units are in the mission, and it gets rid of the shimmering so that's a plus in my book. Frame-generation works well in CPU-limited scenarios (which VR at the moment is - at least for me; I am GPU limited in 2D but CPU limited in VR).
  2. Hopefully not too long in the future though: a year ago it was alluded to being "in progress", while now it seems to have moved to "we'll do it at some point".
  3. Hopefully that changes when we finally get the new damage model for jets.
  4. Have a look through this subforum There are plenty of threads on this exact topic already.
  5. Yup even 16GB for the 5080 is not enough: people will find that out the hard way - even if it's a few years down the line. Now that was an excellent card!
  6. It depends on which landing approach you use. Around the boat you'll be in a turn when you deploy gear and flaps so the nose-up won't hinder you - quite the opposite - so you can go full flaps right away. If you're going straight-in on a runway, deploy undercarriage at 250, half flaps at 180 and full flaps at 160.
  7. Yes that's correct as-is. This update doesn't magically change how a CRT screen works.
  8. Yes I get a +30%ish improvement in framerate with the registry entries and quad view selected, but it also introduces artifacts and issues with shadow rendering. For me, despite how nice it is to sit at a locked 90fps, this is not worth it - at least at the moment.
  9. It's best to not be too emotionally involved and too eager for a quick solution. It sucks but legal disputes can (and often do) take years to reach a satisfactory conclusion - if they ever do. I want development to resume as much as the next person, but I am mentally prepared for less-than-optimal outcomes.
  10. Personally I take a similar approach with the F-4 to landing a tail-dragger: right before touchdown I look outside to my left or right and judge my descent visually, for a smooth touchdown. And yes, staying just a smidge above "on-speed" definitely helps because you sink like a rock the moment you're even a tad too slow. I basically go by sound of the AoA gauge and park the furthest edge of the horizontal gunsight projector on the far edge of the runway (a bit hard to explain this properly without training aids) . I find this giving me a pretty decent approach angle. *edit* Did you read Victory's post about "mastering your first flight"?
  11. My own country operated the Sea King Mk48 for decades, and we even had a very successful (locally at least) TV series made about its SAR adventures. I’d love to see one in DCS one day
  12. Seriously though: if there's one thing about DCS that makes me pull my hair out is the awful aggravating AI (that is either godlike or has the IQ of a shoelace). GFM and sensor abilities: make it so that enemy A/G aircraft without radar don't start flying straight for you from 80nm away and want to dogfight an F-16, following you around even through thick clouds... And not getting shot down by "friendly" AI lobbing fox3s into a furball would also be nice
  13. When we have more news to share, we will. Thank you for your passion and support (and dollars/euros/roebls)...
  14. I used to spend a lot of time in trainers, just for the fun of flying (I share your sentiment about the L-39). These days I rarely take them out for a spin. A short free flight perhaps but that's pretty much it.
  15. That's debatable I for one don't consider it even remotely ready for regular use... Though that might depend on individual preferences/expectations. The advantage of pre-ordering (or just buying before full release) is indeed the reduced price, provided you are confident the final product will be up to your individual expectations. The Kola Peninsula is an exceedingly beautiful area (in real life), and given the reputation of the developer I'm reasonably confident it will get there - eventually. For me it's just not there yet...
  16. Past, absolutely. I'd even go as far as saying I'd have preferred it if the most modern stuff in DCS (both maps and modules) was mid-'90s. So we could have a decently capable F-16, F-18 and Strike Eagle but no GPS, no data-link, no helmet mounted queueing systems, ... Oh and RedFor wouldn't be hilariously outdated by comparison. Present-day maps (while I understand they are far easier to make than past versions) don't make any sense to me whatsoever, for all of the reasons already mentioned.
  17. Hmm the only other 2 things I can think of you could try is: - recalibrate your joystick (either in windows or the dedicated software); - use the mod manager to delete the F-16 and then re-download it (this has helped some people in the past with issues).
  18. Perhaps this just refers to the newer 3rd parties who are working on already announced modules, but haven't made anything else yet for DCS? Such as Aviastorm (Tornado), Aviron (Kfir), CheckSix (north Australia map + PC-9), Crosstail (A-1), FlyingIron (A-7), Grinnelli (F-100), RedStar (MiG-17), ... or even MIlTech (Bo-105).
  19. Have you checked for any double bindings?
  20. Yes exactly: on neither the F-16 nor the F-18, the helmet mounted sight is modelled correctly for that exact reason. But we also have the older style helmet (not default, but can be selected in the ME). There the situation is simpler: visor up or down - with the default being down as shown on the external 3D model of the pilot.
  21. True enough: it’s just what they themselves said. I'm not trying to make excuses for them. Several of those bugs and non-working features quite annoy me, and keep me from flying that module
  22. By RAZBAM's own admission, there is still a lot of work to be done on the module - primarily on the bug fixing department (as Hilok said). There were several "low priority" fixes that they knew had to be done, but never got around to before the current situation became evident. Sure but that doesn't have anything to do with how bug-free or complete a module is I quite enjoy the F-15E too, despite all the very obvious bugs.
  23. I used to use Project Lasso as well. I no longer find it necessary - but that's just me.
  24. Yup: just yesterday I had my PC hard crash because the ME made my video card run out of VRAM (I got a prompt saying I need to check whether my system meets the minimum requirements - apparently 16GB of VRAM is not enough). If you use the unit icons on the ME to place units properly, it also loads in their liveries (which is utter insanity imo). Have enough units in your mission and your PC will hard crash (nothing I could do except press the restart-button on my case...
  25. A proper simulation of aircraft helmets would fix that without the need to adjust gamma every few minutes. What we need instead is working visors - and aviator sunglasses for WW2 modules and certain helicopters.
