  1. It is indeed nothing new, but it is nice to see it re-confirmed from time to time as this conflict drags on. Priorities shift after all, and there's a lot going on behind the scenes that we as users are not privy to that does influence decisions and long-term plans. So I thank you nonetheless for confirming your commitment
  2. The former would include bugfixes and ensuring every feature that is currently included works optimally. The latter is trying to make sure future DCS core updates don't break the module.
  3. Perhaps it is that, but think for a moment the kind of behaviour such measures would induce on the playerbase, especially in multiplayer. Wouldn't you rather see that people fly around with a feeling of responsibility for their aircraft and their own virtual wellbeing? I think there should be MORE incentives for people to behave responsibly in their aircraft, not fewer. This is a flight simulator after all, not Unreal Tournament where you drink a health potion and can jump back into the melee again
  4. I’m late to the party, but glad you figured it out. Generally speaking: for others who might have issues I recommend disabling controllers you don’t need in the DCS ‘setup controls’ screen, and using something like HIDHide in Windows to block everything but DCS and configuration software from seeing/accessing your flightsim peripherals.
  5. Did you have a really close look down low in Iraq? I was talking about low-level from a helicopter: Iraq has a long way to go when it comes to low-level detail. Look at small villages for example: houses are just put down in the sand like Lego blocks without any cohesion or connecting roads. It’s quite immersion-breaking actually. Yes Iraq looks a lot better than Afghanistan in the sense that it doesn’t have those sudden sharp borders between various ground textures, and yes it’s EA but there is a long way to go.
  6. As MAXsenna said, bind it to the copilot section and it should work fine: I have no issues with it, but I do actually switch seats and pretend I have been there for the entire flight. I did check however and you can indeed use the copilot controls from the pilot seat provided you bound them correctly
  7. I really hope that's true: Normandy is the best looking map in DCS down low. There's something about the vegetation and colours that just *clicks* for me.
  8. I'd think such a landing is a normal landing, or at least a 'satisfactory' one. My last landing in the Phantom was met with silence by Jester, but I was pretty happy with it because I was able to keep the nose wheel off the ground for quite a while after touchdown
  9. Yes: both companies already lost credibility and goodwill, which will only get worse if they don’t reach a satisfactory agreement. Also, think of ED’s launches in 2024 and how they were received. Afghanistan wasn’t a smooth launch; the Chinook wasn’t a good launch, the F-5 remaster was close to disastrous, …
  10. Yup. 2024 was a pretty bad year for ED (from a PR perspective especially), so let’s hope 2025 can turn that around.
  11. In the Mission Editor. So if you only fly online, you can either talk to the server owner or wait for a fix. It's been reported a few weeks ago already so ED is aware:
  12. There are plenty of good YT channels that cover historical aviation. In fact, back then was a much more interesting era anyway because of the learning-as-you-go approach, and a lot of innovation happened then too. And generally speaking, a lot of issues arise from ignorance so there's that
  13. Yes, it is... MSAA is incompatible with deferred shading. That has been discussed to death by people much smarter than me, back when DCS 2.5 was released. If you watch any video that explains what MSAA actually does and how it works, you'll understand why it's an extremely outdated brute-force method of AA.
  14. MSAA was nice before DCS 2.5, since then it's pretty much incompatible (it sort of works, sometimes, depends). I don't really like the idea of upscaling either but generally speaking DLSS works very well (though it also depends on the module since more modern aircraft display issues with text rendering when it is enabled). I get 70-90fps with DLSS enabled, depending on how many units are in the mission, and it gets rid of the shimmering so that's a plus in my book. Frame-generation works well in CPU-limited scenarios (which VR at the moment is - at least for me; I am GPU limited in 2D but CPU limited in VR).
  15. Hopefully not too long in the future though: a year ago it was alluded to being "in progress", while now it seems to have moved to "we'll do it at some point".
  16. Hopefully that changes when we finally get the new damage model for jets.
  17. Have a look through this subforum There are plenty of threads on this exact topic already.
  18. Yup even 16GB for the 5080 is not enough: people will find that out the hard way - even if it's a few years down the line. Now that was an excellent card!
  19. It depends on which landing approach you use. Around the boat you'll be in a turn when you deploy gear and flaps so the nose-up won't hinder you - quite the opposite - so you can go full flaps right away. If you're going straight-in on a runway, deploy undercarriage at 250, half flaps at 180 and full flaps at 160.
  20. Yes that's correct as-is. This update doesn't magically change how a CRT screen works.
  21. Yes I get a +30%ish improvement in framerate with the registry entries and quad view selected, but it also introduces artifacts and issues with shadow rendering. For me, despite how nice it is to sit at a locked 90fps, this is not worth it - at least at the moment.
  22. It's best to not be too emotionally involved and too eager for a quick solution. It sucks but legal disputes can (and often do) take years to reach a satisfactory conclusion - if they ever do. I want development to resume as much as the next person, but I am mentally prepared for less-than-optimal outcomes.
  23. Personally I take a similar approach with the F-4 to landing a tail-dragger: right before touchdown I look outside to my left or right and judge my descent visually, for a smooth touchdown. And yes, staying just a smidge above "on-speed" definitely helps because you sink like a rock the moment you're even a tad too slow. I basically go by sound of the AoA gauge and park the furthest edge of the horizontal gunsight projector on the far edge of the runway (a bit hard to explain this properly without training aids) . I find this giving me a pretty decent approach angle. *edit* Did you read Victory's post about "mastering your first flight"?
  24. My own country operated the Sea King Mk48 for decades, and we even had a very successful (locally at least) TV series made about its SAR adventures. I’d love to see one in DCS one day
  25. Seriously though: if there's one thing about DCS that makes me pull my hair out is the awful aggravating AI (that is either godlike or has the IQ of a shoelace). GFM and sensor abilities: make it so that enemy A/G aircraft without radar don't start flying straight for you from 80nm away and want to dogfight an F-16, following you around even through thick clouds... And not getting shot down by "friendly" AI lobbing fox3s into a furball would also be nice
