That’s what I got from it as well. Not that it is a problem: it is a system designed to face the threats of that era. It would only need to be careful when facing F-14s (and DCS can’t replicate the Phoenix’s specific guidance anyway so who knows how it would behave).

Yes, exactly that!

Endurance Calculated in Hours Only
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to Yurgon's topic in Bugs and Problems
I can confirm. -
Yes that binding’s been there since the module launched, and is what I have been using. In your case, if you use the other bindings and don’t bind the Centre position, of course it won’t return to centre. It works the exact same way in other modules too. You have options depending on your specific setup: if you have a switch with 3 bindable positions, use the (recall-centre-acknowledge) binding, but in most cases people will have switches with 2 bindable positions that springloads back to centre, in which case use the (Recall <> Middle) and (Acknowledge <> Middle) bindings. Most if not all modules use the exact same logic.

Yes indeed. Ours reported the same.

Indeed, I hadn’t flown the F-4 in a few months so I wondered if it was a new addition… But that sound is exactly the same regardless of airspeed, even on the ground

All of a sudden, Varjo Aero not detected

Check the USB controllers in Device Manager. In my case Windows had turned off a "USB Composite Device". I turned it back on, and the amber light turned to green again -
I haven’t seen this before. Do you perhaps have mods installed?

As it is almost 5 years since this thread was started, hardware evolved too. Get yourself a FFB base, a good grip and extension with a length dependant on which grip and base you use. My Rhino has a ‘built-in’ extension already, and my Virpil grip is quite long to begin with, so I can get away with a 10cm extension - as it is the equivalent of using a 20cm one with regular grip and base.

DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum pre-purchase
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to BIGNEWY's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
Will that be explained for those of us who don’t have a degree in computer graphics? Does that mean we’ll have depth perception when looking in the mirrors? -
Don’t forget about the harm that windows updates can do: they often revert user settings back to windows default, so after a while it’s worth checking if nothing has changed. USB power saving for example is notorious for turning itself back on. Or perhaps a recent driver you installed has issues?

Question - What is it? (next to HUD)
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to vctpil's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
Windshield ventilation / anti-fog would be my guess. -
My post was more about being realistic about the hardware requirements for high-end headsets, since “the best VR experience” can mean many things. Personally I’d consider higher framerate on a lower-resolution headset a better VR experience than 20-30 fps with a headset that gives you better visuals. I didn’t mean to suggest the G2 specifically, but ‘a’ headset with similar resolutions because I know the type of system that is needed to run it. So my suggestion would be to not aim too high, but you said you have a budget you want to respect so that’s a good guideline. I wouldn’t be comfortable with a used VR headset either. At the very least it would have to come with a brand new headband since that absorbs quite a lot of sweat. You get where I’m going with this

On top of that, DCS night lighting has some room for improvement, so in DCS you’d need NVGs in situations that likely wouldn’t require one IRL.
-
When you don’t have a (very) high end system, I’d avoid headsets with very high resolution/PPD (pixels per degree). Something with similar specs as a Reverb G2 for example should work quite well

I misremembered, that’s all. I edited the post. Neither would I: Swedish is VERY similar to my native language. I don’t need English cockpits in Mirages either. Slavic languages make my head spin: I learned a bit of Polish years ago when I was dating someone there, and my pronunciation was good enough to pass for native, but the amount of phrases I knew was very limited - why do they even feel the need to conjugate people’s names
-
I tested a mod that does the job a while ago, but for some reason it prevented the keyboard commands from being used to “move the yellow text” (aka use hotas or other commands to navigate the communication menu), so that’s why I know it exists, but I didn’t end up using it myself. Glad you found one!

I didn’t go to school in Poland like you so I didn’t get the chance to learn Russian. I tried to do it on my own for a while but learning French, German and English on top of my native language was enough work already. So I want to understand what I’m reading and what Nadia Rita is saying, at the very least until I’m comfortable enough with the module. Then and only then might I switch to Russian.

The problem I saw in Wags' latest video is that there was "knots", "feet" and "miles" everywhere on the gauges. Yes I'm aware that you can set English cockpit and English avionics options separately, but those are LANGUAGE options and it seems in DCS they also change the UNITS without saying that they do. I hope that on launch we'll be able to set English LANGUAGE while retaining the proper UNITS. Because if you set English cockpit and Native avionics, parts of the cockpit will still be in Russian (it's like that in current modules as well such as Mi-24). Again, those options should just affect the language, not the units.

There are mods who take care of that. Run a search, and you’ll easily find them.
