Stutters on 9800X3D 96 RAM in MP

Thanks for putting a smile on my face! -
Airfield and air traffic

Personal preference: I find many F-16 IA missions to be particularly suited for training with various modules, if you swap out the F-16 with something else. For example: there is a “defensive systems” IA mission in NTTR where you can activate various air defence units via F10 commands, so I found it to be quite useful to fly that as a MiG-29 so you can learn how the SPO-15 reacts to being engaged by particular SAMs. -
Stutters on 9800X3D 96 RAM in MP

The things I do to help people out... I joined the busiest server (PvE training I might add) I could see (44 people), hopped into an unarmed Harrier, took off and headed to another friendly airport, and was immediately chased by some nincompoop in an F-15 who decided it's a good idea to shoot me down... And people wonder why I don't join multiplayer servers... Anyway, as before: no stutters and silky smooth frame rates. -
Stutters on 9800X3D 96 RAM in MP

I just checked that server, but I was alone there and there was no F-18 available, so I took an AV-8B and flew around for a while. No stutters whatsoever and silky smooth frame rate. I can check again later to see if there are more people there at that time. -

Open the Mission Editor in DCS, browse to the F-16 folder -> Quickstart -> open any of the Caucasus IA missions, for example "F-16C - Caucasus - Takeoff.miz" You can see the triggers are based on UNIT inside zone (player, [airfield name] ) and GROUP ACTIVATE (...) Yes, it can. But you might have to save them in a different folder in case they open as "TempMission.miz". I open ED IA missions all the time in the ME to edit them to my liking, or to quickly change something without saving (for example in the various F-18 IA dogfight missions I change the F-18 to AI and the MiG-29 to player if I want to practice). Or I change the F-16 to something else in one of the NTTR IA missions. -

Sure but it will have to wait until tomorrow: I’m at work now -

I understand! Mind you, I was not criticising you in any way, but this thread is so funny (unintentionally) that I couldn’t help myself I can try that tomorrow, yes -

If you have the F-16 by ED, you could have a look at the mission editor and see how the triggers work in the instant action missions that are included: they make the airfield feel more alive too, without a need for mods. -

I also don’t have experience with playing DCS on other planets and then connecting to a server on Earth. But I guess you account for stellar drift and the fact that time flows differently on planets with a different gravitational field? Something that could cause stutters while you’re on Earth in MP, is when units spawn in dynamically. We used to mitigate that by placing static units on the map of the same type that the server can spawn in. But this was a good few years ago, so I don’t know if that is still valid today. Other than that, I suppose scripts could cause it but you’d have to discuss that with the server admin. -
It’s a date!

Stutters on 9800X3D 96 RAM in MP

96Gb = 12GB which doesn’t exist as far as I know (edit: might be 8 + 4 I suppose but that’s a weird combination to use these days). If it’s 96GB, then yes it’s 2x 48GB: I have the same configuration, except my RAM is 6000MT/s and not 6000GHz, which the OP is apparently using… Must be a 12-dimensional quantum kit or something, and I can’t say I’m familiar enough with that to determine if it it could cause stutters -
I managed to beat a MiG-29 once in a dogfight. The other times, I got my behind handed back to me

There’s a reason so many people complained for years about the F-5 cockpit, and that the “remaster” was so poorly received: it was ED’s chance to fix it, but instead they decided to put a fresh coat of paint on it and call it a day. You can mitigate the issue (in the F-5’s case) by using outlandish IPD values but you can’t completely fix it

If they have enough data about the flight model: there must be a reason why Su-25 is the only FC3 bird without PFM It would be an instant buy from me if they make it FF, obviously!

DCS, the REDFOR imbalance and Flankers

Su-33 doesn’t make a lot of sense though: you won’t be able to take off with more than 50% fuel and 2 (or 4 at most) AA missiles. -
any suggestion to air refuel the 18 in vr ?

Thanks, neighbour! I’ll try that tomorrow -
any suggestion to air refuel the 18 in vr ?
Raven (Elysian Angel) replied to dave76's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
There's no shame in struggling to refuel the F-18: I find it to be the hardest aircraft in DCS to refuel, by a large margin. I mostly struggle with: - the constant left aileron needed while closing in from pre-contact to actual contact, then that force suddenly disappears as if someone flipped a switch; - the huge deadzone in the FCS (when I make small physical corrections the in-game stick moves as well yet the aircraft itself doesn't move a bit): this leads to constant over-corrections and PIO.
