Yeah look, we ain't going to get the new carrier this year. Or I'd be very, extremely, surprised if we did.

Hahaha, I love this, why not try and think positive. Though I hope you keep your pitchforks master arm off when it doesn't come out this year. :smilewink:

Will ground crew attach holdback bar to F-14
Gunslinger22 replied to RaisedByWolves's topic in DCS: Supercarrier
I'm going to say that the only reason why they showed a Tomcat in the trailer was to show the salute. Otherwise you would have seen them parked on the deck and for it to not have just been an absolute hornet show. -
Yeah look, I’d dare say we’re not going to see the Forrestal this year. Considering there has been really no word on its progress. It’d be a splendid surprise if it were to leave dry dock this year, but time is rapidly running out. Really just wish they could give us even some progress picks of how it’s looking, but oh well.

Yeah I must agree, I don’t think anyone has actually adressed what you’ve said and shown. IRL the evelators are at full pitch at the end of the stoke, whereas if you did that in DCS you would pitch up 60 degrees and stall. This has absolutely nothing to do with trim, I don’t get how people aren’t understanding that, as the elevators are at full deflection so pitch trim is redundant.

Haha oh god, don't you just love development within DCS, such a rollercoaster. Keep it up Heatblur!

+1 This looks simply stunning and has a far more real look to it! -
Is there a way to raise the visor on the pilot/RIO models?
Gunslinger22 replied to MobiSev's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
+1 similar to the P-51 pilot, feels weird always having the non transparent visor down. -
Hmm, this might be an unpopular opinion, but I dare say that once both the Tomcat/Viggen are slowly finished they’ll be the last HB module for DCS. With the announcement they made post launch in regards to their new partner and how quiet they’ve been since, without even the slightest amount of confrontation that they’ll still be developing directly for DCS. I would not be surprised if the Tomcat was their final module, I utterly hope I’m completely wrong, but this is just my gut feeling.

Oh lord the sheer amount of salt within this has completely ruined my dinner and will probably make breakfast unbearable without an even amount of pepper to go with it. Just curious, how many years did you spend within the USN flying the Tomcat? Great to see another Tomcat pilot in the community, well I mean you must be an ex-driver aren't you? Since you clearly must have such intricate knowledge of the Phoenix's classified performance? You wouldn't have been so rude and arrogant with your initial bug claim otherwise would have you?

Honestly since getting VR I have found the Tomcats HUD to hardly be an issue and have found it to be actually less stressful that I’m not getting information saturation like I get in the Hornet. It performs perfectly for what it is required to do, in the A2A mode it gives you all the information you require for weapons employment. As for general flight, quickly glancing at the Mach Wheel or Altimeter is not even remotely an issue like it is with TrackIr. It actually feels very natural to glance at the flight instruments. The complaints you see some people cry about on here though make you wonder how the aircraft was even able to stay in service for so long with its apparent ‘terrible cockpit layout’? :helpsmilie:

I have consistently achieved 60nm+ kills with the Mk60 on the 104th both with Jester and a Human RIO. The longest kill I have score with a human was 82nm. When you fox with a well place TWS shot with high speeds and medium altitude the Phoenix is a beast that catches a lot of people off guard.

Thanks to the great Watermanpc for the RoughMets, really make the Tomcat come to life! -
I love this so much, your roughmet is stunning!! Is there any chance you could send me your roughmets for my own use? They're incredible realistic!

F14 Skinners thread (Paintkit in 1st post)
Gunslinger22 replied to David A Sell's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
So I figured out one thing, I wasn't saving my dds with mipmaps! This was causing everything to because very pixelated especially decals, but now it's all good! -

Is there anyone else whom is getting weird pixelation in their skins similar to what happens with reds currently? I'll post some pics in a moment, but no matter what I do my skins become very pixelated compared to anyone else's I use in-game. -
Would really hope we could finally get some clarification on this soon, still haven't gotten any in depth answers to what it really means?

Oh boy how much I respect this! This is exactly my sentiment with the Tomcat, my fantasy is for a Iceland map with a Red Storm Rising campaign. I want 1980's scenarios where the Tomcat was king of the Naval arena. But people cry to have the Sparrowhawk so it makes it easier for them, god know's how Tomcat pilots put up with the A/B's avionics before the upgrades, must of been impossible to fly with a HUD that didn't show altitude and speed. It's really not hard in game to glance at the wheel and get a rough idea how many knots you're doing.

The F-14A most certainly had the TCS system, or TVSU as I believe it was initially called. But I question the source of this, maybe he was talking about his squadron at the time? As many F-14A’s had the bullet fairing installed when the camera was not available.
