What you actually see in the photo is factually two F-14A’s. Easily identifiable by the TF-30 engines. Many people get confused over the whole F-14A+/B thing. Technically the -A+ is the B. The nomenclature of it changed in 1990 I believe, or possibly 91. As for the avionics the bombing computers that allowed for CCIP and CCRP were already in place with the F-14A. The only upgrades for its bombing mission were the addition of the LANTIRN pod, which even before the pod A/B’s could still drop LGB’s.

Completely agree, this is why I don't even remotely care for wanting the D or the Sparrowhawk HUD. I feel some people only want modern avionics simply because it makes things easier for them. Heck I want the PW TF-30 over the F110-GE-400 because it will be hard and much more rewarding to master!

I’m wishing for an A-6! Hell, how cool will it be to have CV decks filled with Tomcats, Hornets and Intruders online?!

Red Flag Red October - F/A-18C vs Mig-29S

I was referring to comparing them for their substance/replay-ability, you will get more gameplay from learning all the systems/subsystems + procedures in the Tomcat than that of a AAA FPS (Excluding Multiplayer because it applies to both without mention). Because where my point was directed at meaning is that people complain about the price, yet they don't play/learn the module to it's fullest intent.

It’s interesting how much the hype is building around this supposed 21st release. It really does seem like such a fairytale. Heck I’m starting to subtly wish/hope for it to fall on the 21st just so we can celebrate it being all of our first flights also being on the 21st. But I still have a feeling that it might be a 2019 release. I hope for Heatblurs sake that it isn’t, but the way thing have gone for them in development and the track record so far on the quality might lean towards more development time being needed.

By the very brief glimpse we got in the reveal trailer, it seems that their interactive manual is going to be a lot more user friendly than simply reading the NATOPS. Which I’m glad they’re taking that approach, while I’ll still refer to the NATOPS, only because I got the whole thing printed out. I’ll be sure to use their manual!

Hopefully Heatblur in given time pays faith to the CVBG, considering what’s the purpose of the Tomcat on a carrier if there is no fleet to protect! I also really hope that the CVBG and its Defense plays a large role in their campaigns. A full blown attack on the CV would be a very intense thing to fight off.

Without a doubt this will be great. But I’m more eager for when the skin template gets release. Then it’s party time for a while for me. Kept me going for a while before the Hornet was released!

Boy am I excited to see what videos you’ll produce with the Tomcat! They’ll be right in the Danger Zone!

I’m also genuinely of the opinion that I’d willingly pay more for the Tomcat. People seriously need to compare it to something like the price of a triple A title. In Australia that’s minimum $100/USD $70. Because you get more gameplay and hours out of a DCS module than any other game. If you complain that’s not the case then you clearly aren’t flying/studying a module to its full potential. The Tomcat is going to have my attention for years to come and allow me to live my childhood dream, which I think is something that I’d pay any price for.

Possible F-14 Texture Template release??
Gunslinger22 replied to The Thunderbird's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I'm very excited for the Template! I'm already doing some designing for some existing schemes and some "what ifs". -
I see no point in adding the Sparrowhawk, considering it only really came very late in the A+/B’s life, it really isn’t that great in its history. When I think of the Tomcat I don’t think of its last years of service. I think of the era the thankfully Heatblur is simulating. The glorious 80’s and to a lesser extent the 90’s.

"Bad Cats" Aggressor Tomcat's paintschemes please!
Gunslinger22 replied to carss's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Any of the Flanker schemes look amazing on the F-14 to me. Especially that splinter scheme! -
I’m actually really looking forward to being able to fly and fight over the Falklands with the Kitty. Some really cool fictional scenarios can be fought over the Falklands. Considering that the Falklands is in the Atlantic Ocean there is no reason to not believe that a CV couldn’t have gotten involved in the conflict.

I believe he said that they would actually release without the option and if it’s still a serious problem for people then they would provide the option. But as many people including Cobra has said, once you actually get to fly the Tomcat you won’t even notice the refresh rate. In cruise mode the HUD actually refreshes very quickly.

Carrier ground support equipnent DLC
Gunslinger22 replied to Harley Davidson's topic in Heatblur Simulations
I would love some 80’s era assets to have on our Carrier decks. Even simply having static EA-6’s or A-7’s would be great. I think ED is reworking the S-3B, which is going to be another great addition to the CVW! -
Is the update scheduled for the 109?
Gunslinger22 replied to .Tigre.'s topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Indeed having the MK-108 pods would be a great addition. Curious as to why it is taking so long? -
This was a really good move by ED, bringing some life back into the Redfor! If the SME’s think it’s accurate, then for me it has to be. Funny seeing some people comment of what they think is wrong or right. Great stuff as usual, will be flying this for a while to come now!

A great response! Many of us here either run our own businesses or work very stressful jobs so we completely understand. I also understand that sometimes you have to put yourself under the pump to meet expectations and deadlines. Either way I’m sure you know what is best for both your employees and your paying customers. I’m sure you’re looking forward to lifting the weight that is the Tomcat off your chest!

** Leaving Drydock! Forrestal Class Update **
Gunslinger22 replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I don’t think last year was just a “road bump” considering that this road bump has resulted in a year delay? I think that now they have people’s money in their hands, it puts a lot more weight on the responsibility to get it released. You can interpret what Cobra said by thinking it will be a January release by not working over Christmas, or looking at it by him saying it’s going to be release before Christmas so they can have some time off. -
I think everyone should just wait for it to be release before making any judgement on how the HUD will impact them. It’s like thinking how a car will drive without actually driving it.

I’m also going to do quite a few Aggressor schemes once the skin template is release!
