  1. I reckon that anyone who makes a "combat pack" for x-plane will make a mint ... at the very least they'll make me very happy LOL!
  2. Or .. X-Plane could get combat ... I would be very happy with that ;o) Basically if DCS and X-Plane could combine .. that would be flight simming heaven IMO. They both do a lot of different things extremely well .. and XP is heading the 64 bit way ... already works in beta. Chaos, there's Hi Rez terrain of the Loop in XP 10, in fact all the RAF training areas are there including Wales in great geographical detail... there was in 9.70 as well but not as good.
  3. Oh yes, chiming in .. +1 for DCS: Flanker
  4. Woops ... my apologies Jim! I've retracted my post on Avsim (and apologised) :(
  5. Check this out ... http://forum.avsim.net/page/index.html/_/pr-ann/just-flight-releases-the-dcs-p-51d-r870 Really!? Someone tell me I'm wrong. Why would you buy this? Why not just buy it as part of DCS:World? Something just doesn't feel right and I'm curious. What do you think? VERY misleading! Why not buy this module as part of DCS: World? Go here ... http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/ This is the message I left ... "Look, I could be wrong, but this just doesn't smell right ... I'm very suspicious of this. You make no mention that this is a product from Digital Combat Simulator (DCS) ... it's like you're claiming that YOU've just released the product ... and thats patently UNTRUE! " If I'm wrong I will apologize ...
  6. Thanks c0FF. That pretty much answers it ... in my opinion :).
  7. Good points Toxe.
  8. Thanks, and yes! Correct on both counts, except the very last shot is the same area (Batumi) taken from Prepar3D flying Carenado's King Air C90B. XP10 feels much better all around though, and I'm bugging Carenado to release their KingAir's for XP. I only stumbled upon it (the AN24) last week. It's amazing within the XP10 environment and incredibly immersive. To each their own. Given a choice I prefer the sim that provides the fuller experience. So while simplified can be cute, it usually doesn't rock my boat :D.
  9. No worries mate ... it's all there for the taking! :o)
  10. 'Ello ello (I says with some consternayshun from my Carenado KingAir C90B)... wot's this then? In how many virtual worlds does Batumi exist?
  11. Familiar terrain ... steep approach ... Batumi in sight ... Ok ... what've you done with the airbase Mr. Meyer?
  12. Passing over Kutaisi in Felis' AN24 ... Different angle ... isn't she just loverly ... strong honest hips, great thighs with a bit o'meat, just the ways I likes it  In the office, fully clickable ... steam dials all the way baybeh (and they all work)! This is what "I" want to fly in DCS ... even though this is pretty damn close to DCS standard already! :pilotfly:
  13. Welcome back. Yes, it plays well in single player. Do a search through the forums. I'll wager that most of your questions are answered in the sticky's, however to save you some time, DCS World is the new unifying environment. You need to install it first. Then if you want to fly the modules you have to buy them (or upgrade them depending on your preference). ***You actually can have an old copy of BS or A10 installed at the same time on the same computer ... because they are totally separate products to DCS World. Snippet taken from here ... DCS Product Installation 1- Uninstall all previous DCS products prior to versions 1.2.1 2- To be safe, delete \Saved Games\DCS files 3- Install DCS World 1.2.1 4- Install each new DCS module (1.2.1 or latest Beta version)
  14. Happens to me too. I'm trying to update tonight incidentally ... so does this mean that I need to get past the first update before I have an auto-updater that works?
  15. Well I was going to take your word for that ... however as it turns out ... :P You said it man!:megalol: Now THAT is good news! Thnx Reaper old chap, care to point us to a source?
  16. Why should it not? Use your imagination my friend! A picture, a caption ... F86 on Final ... DCS forums (albeit other sim news ... nudge wink etc. Besides, I didn't say it did mean that, I said I hope that it might. :D
  17. I really hope that this means that MilViz will soon be developing for DCS?
  18. Thnx for the heads-up YeaImRota. I used to play a fair bit of Aces High but it was the lack of fidelity that soured me off that one too.
  19. Just signed up to have a look see. Sounds compelling but will form my own opinion. By the sounds of it they already have 1000+ people flying on their servers .. MMO WWII air land and sea :D. I doubt that the level of fidelity will match my beloved DCS P51 but this development is an indication of how popular a WWII MMO is! Looks like there's early jets judging by some of the screen shots (Korean War), and here's a preview.
  20. Hehe .. well yes, these too of course, but I think you need the migration tool!
  21. Like Cichlidfan said, I believe the difference is just the terrain (the EDIT - it's the area that you get. The pricey edition gets the whole world to fly in!). Regarding the aircraft, I've never been a fan of the default aircraft that's in X-Plane. You really need to buy some of the addon aircraft, e.g. Carenado make some nice ones if you want attention to detail coupled with eye candy! The same is true with Prepar3D 1.4 ... the default aircraft really suck IMO, but Carenado make some nice one's for P3D as well. With P3D I would also recommend REX Essential to beautify an essentially dog ugly sim :D. With REX my P3D environmental is breathtakingly beautiful, even more so that X-Plane 10 (maybe not ... jury's not out on this). Top that off with a Carenado quality aircraft and ... say no more, say no more ... ;)
  22. You're conflating a disparate set of arguments that should be kept separate. Of course you need good up to date hardware to be able to run flight simulation at it's best. There should be no other expectation ... and to expect otherwise is silly. :D However, some people do think FSX is crappy, I am among them. There're many reasons for this, and people more learned than I can go into the details ... ask Aaron, he's a mate of mine! At my level of scientific and tech know how (nil, zilch, nada ... zero) I rely on experiential 'feel' coupled with the reasoning of my friends .. they are people I trust. No need to be upset about this opinion on the merits of FSX ... lets move on! :D
  23. I quite often fly the BK117 ... love it :) Re PA aircraft in X-Plane, there's a great PA34 available from Carenado, available as an addon aircraft. It's possbily my favourite aircraft as I often fly the virtual commuter route between YTWB (Toowoomba) and YBBN (Brisbane Intl) vbg! Occassionaly also fly the YARM (Armidale) to YSTW (Tamworth) route as well ... I believe that Tamworth was the location (back in the 80's and 90's perhaps) from where British Airways used to conduct some of their pilot training for wide body jets. Another great addon from Carendao for x-plane is the C208 Grand Caravan (Cessna) ... beautiful aircarft and part of their HD series. I'm hoping that Carenado port their brilliant C90B KingAir (which I fly in P3D) across to X-Plane ... only because I still prefer the 'feel' of X-Plane 10 compared to P3D. If I may continue the aircarft and handling comparisons across sims (I know ... off topic), I have Heinz' payware P51D for X-Plane and I must say that if I were to limit my perspective to the modelling of the P51 ... the DCS Mustang is by far the superior in every respect.
  24. What a sad sack, and either has an agenda, or forgot to take his meds. The Mustang is just plain brilliant. Caveat, if you have a crappy system, expect a crappy experience. With a good graphics card and a decent CPU, the P51 is a wonderful experience, so much so that I wish that one day DCS will have importable METAR and a global terrain mesh ... :)
  25. I didn't look at the trk, because I'm in a rush ;). However, each time that's happened to me it's because the front wheel is at right angles to the direction I wanted to go .... with me it's my old bodge joystick that gets a bit sticky on the yaw axis ... and when I gun the engines to try to force the wheel to swivel it breaks instead. When I notice it now, I do a few twists on the joystick (rudder) and that usually centers it .. then push forward on the stick to taxi .. right as rain. Hope that helps. Cheers
