I'm assuming that the server details aren't being shared just yet? Keenly watching this space for the server details ...

Nice explanation Effte. I tried to rep you but apparently I have to spread it around a bit .. after a year!? Oh well. :) My wish is that we eventually can do in DCS what I currently do in X-Plane with regard to civvy flying, because the modelling 'feel' in DCS is so much better, but lacks the curved earth thing and proper weather.

Hear-hear! The mozziquito would be great. However the Bristol Beaufighter would be greater! For a bomber, I believe a Lancaster and Wellington would be most welcome. After they're done the B-17 would be superfluous to requirements .. joking of course .. although, maybe not :pilotfly:

Hallelujah baybay! :D You go away for a bit then come back to this hive of activity! It's better than a lifetime of birthdays and Christmas's all rolled into one ... very exciting!

Please help a noob take advantage of the sale
Teapot replied to Cavemanhead's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Ah .. thanks for the correction Random! Quite honestly I've been ignoring it in favour of what I consider to be the real masterpieces (P-51 and 190D), however now I'll definitely give it a go. It's really something that DCS provide this for free ... although great advertising for the additional modules . Cheers mate! -

Teapot replied to Cavemanhead's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
It doesn't come with a free P-51D ... it has a free T-51; which is not the same plane. The T-51 is a Mustang replica kit airplane. Why should you buy? Because no other flight sim comes close or can hold a candle to a high fidelity DCS standard simulated airplane. -
Bf109-K4, my next ww2 add-on in DCS :-)
Teapot replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
:DI.WILL.BUY.EVERY.DCS.STANDARD.WWII.ADDON.(and DCS standard GA addon).THAT.COMES.OUT. ... so help me god .. yada yada yada .. especially the FU-1D (or the Goodyear model LOL) -

Teapot replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
It's the closest we can get to the ME until it gets its own subforum :pilotfly: Go JComm .. me too mate, I've bought it as well. I'm resolved to buy every DCS WWII aircraft and CA addon .. :D -
Nice discussion! I'm a long-time Flanker/DCS player... in fact I've been a Flanker player since version 1.1, but I've been away for a little bit. Coming from the world of X-Plane (as my civvie sim of choice) I agree with most of what's being said here (I have my own ideas about which civ sim qualifies as sh!te ... but that's grist for another debate ). DCS definitely 'feels' (flight dynamics wise) like it has the edge over all the current crop of civvie sims out there (XP, P3D & FSX ... I have all three). There is definitely a fluid feeling when I interact with the DCS world environment that is missing in the aforementioned civvie sims, in that DCS is consistently good/sophisticated across all flight regimes. If DCS decided to include General Aviation I'd drop all my current civvie sims in a heart beat .. no contest .. build me an Cessna 185 bush plane with floats and tundra tires or even better, a DH6 Twin Otter with the sea/bush kit and I'll fly nothing else. As was previously stated, the size of the usable map, the need for some GA airplanes and the lack AIRAC data are the main impediments ... currently. But things change, you never know .. this fine digital combat flight simulation could very well become the greatest digital combat & GA flight sim ever ... in fact DCS is multi dimensional because it covers different era's of flight as well (we're already heading towards the greatest WWII and possibly Korea & SEA DCS of all time). DCS ~ GACFS (General Aviation & Combat Flight Sim) :D

No. :music_whistling: I'd like to see the whole shebang in DCS. Honestly, after flying in DCS ... I just couldn't stomach flying WWII with any other sim ... unless of course DCS started doing X-Plane WWII modules.

Would you want/ allow flyable civilian aircraft in DCS
Teapot replied to Kroll's topic in DCS Wishlist
It doesn't have to be a civilian plane. It can be a support plane used by military that also fly in the civilian world. 1. Pilatus PC-6 Porter 2. Caribou's 3. Kingair's 4. MU-2B's 5. Chinook's 6. C-130 Herc's 7. Sikorsky SeaKing (I'd LOVE one of these .. ) 8. AN-24 9. AN-26 10. Nimrod ... (might still be 2 much classified stuff?) The list is long .. We already have the Huey ... -
Waiting for first discount on DCS: Mi-8MTV2
Teapot replied to captainteemo's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Why get upset about this? It's all part of doing business. Do you get upset when you buy an item of clothing and then a few months later you see the same item @ discount? Another question .. you don't think that the extra you paid for the early access has been worth it? Of course it has! -
Thanks Nealius. It could be legalese I guess. I had to decipher material on precedents once upon a time when I was @ uni .. and actually did find the language to be convoluted and pedantic :D ... Maybe that's what Trev picked up on? Not to worry, and to get back on topic .. I've subscribed to the YouTube channel, thanks for your effort and contribution Rettick, I really appreciate it! Cheers!

Are you kidding me?! I'm not questioning whether he is or he isn't a lawyer or an ex officer, however his sentence structure and vocabulary is flawless, educated and erudite! This may offend you (remember that you're the one who's drawing attention to language and structure) but it's your writing that sounds disjointed and verbose to me! BTW, I've met officers in all the services (in my country and a few from yours) who were pretty effective at mangling the English language .. and seemed to think they were doing ok :D.
-
Hehe .. I knew this would happen eventually! This is terrific news. DCS will be just perfect as an engine for ALL sorts of periods ... even (dare I say) GA and support aircraft ...
-
+ 1 YES!! I would LOVE DCS level aircraft for the logistics and support role.

Saitek SST Problem on Win 7 64 bit
Teapot replied to Joeben's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
The EDIT: Bottom line is SAITEK programming software for the X52 Pro is crap. I've seen so many people have issues with the programming software and I've had my share of them too. The hardware is mid-range to OK .. but if you want a hassle free HOTAS experience with the X52 Pro, download JoyToKey (http://joytokey.net/en/) and use it plus the latest drivers from the the Saitek site. The rest of the stuff mentioned further on in the thread about USB port 2 is correct as well. You should be able to change that setting in BIOS. -
Look mate I totally agree witch'ya. I reckon know a little 'bout these developmint cycles, and basically the base code's already done innit? Wot's holding ED up fer-cryin-out-loud!? E.g. 'n my point in case ... The AIR is already dunne The CLOUDZ is already dunne The GROUND is already dunne The BULLITS is already dunne The BULLIT DUST SPURTS .. already dunne (say no more ... say no more!) The SOUNDS is already dunne too (2nd e.g. - WHISTLIN' WIND, INJUN START etc etc .. is ALL already dunne! SO all ED have to do is to draw new jets'nshit .. an I want my F-18 too bro .. it's pretty easy to draw. I drawn it on paper all the time .. but you gotta draw it in 3D .. using C++ an Blender n'shit .. How long does it take using Blender? You guys usin' Blender aint'cha? P.S. Shoulda been a point in between the GROUND an tha BULLITS ... is the flippin' MISSILSE have already been dunne ... but maybe ED need to do a bit more work in this departement cause we all no the missails are PEE-OH-AR-KAY ed man (that spells P.O.R.K.-ed in case you was wunderin hahaha) cause they stuffed up the Blender IMO .. wot virshun of Blender you guys usin'?

The 'Buc' (Buccaneer) .. now that's a flying legend, or even a Mirage III ...

I've read some of the posts on the idea that DCS expand to include GA aircraft .. at least it would be profitable maybe to allow all options with the DCS: World sandbox idea; which is basically that DCS:World provides the 'world' and resources and we (the player) builds the scenario. The reason I say this is that over the last 5 months or so, I've been giving GA sims (in particular X-Plane and P3D) a really good workout ... and you know what I've discovered? That none of the current crop of GA sims can hold a candle to DCS in terms of fidelity ... certainly with regard to how flying 'feels' and how the 'world' feels. The above GA sims excel in presenting complex GA simulation, however that depends exclusively on the payware one is prepared to acquire and the short-comings quickly become apparent. DCS's business & sandbox model on the other hand allows the possibility that a GA aircraft might one day make it into DCS:World without it being a detrimental factor on the philosophy of the sandbox simulator playground ... to begin with, why not start with the venerable C-130 for example? The Huey certainly opens some possibilities! The point is not to disregard the 'Combat' component, but to acknowledge that in the 'real' world there's usually a fine line often between a hostile and non-hostile environment. Think about it ... DCS:World has the potential for becoming the most complete sandbox simming playground in the history of flight simulation! That's my dream anyhow! Cheers!

Next DCS (US) Fixed Wing Aircraft Wish List
Teapot replied to diecastbg's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I hope that these utility aircraft can be simulated to DCS level ... or dare I say PMDG levels? :D I'm not really interested in aircraft that are modeled to FC3 level ... I hasten to add there's a place for these I know, just not in my hangar! Cheers. -

DCS World needs ... a Boeing C-17 Globemaster I hope military transports start to make it into the DCS environment one day! Cheers ... -
JimMack was a legend in his own lifetime. In my experienced JimMack always treated people with respect, he had the knack for elevating me to feel like I was worth his time to talk to. Jim, you were such a genuine man. Although I've never met you in person, I cherish the few contacts I've had with you over the years, rest in peace dear friend, you were and still do inspire me.
