  1. Ells @ 40? Nah he's just a spring chicken, lucky bugger!
  2. Perfect! Thanks Eddie. Ahh .. no Freefall (sorry for the late response), I've a hard enough time keeping to coordinated flight let alone doing that while under the influence. Besides, it's conduct unbecoming ... so they say! :D
  3. Bloomin' yanks! Over here we'd face a court-martial followed by a dishonorable discharge for jointing up in the services ... let alone while flying in an A-10! Tomcatter, not meaning to aggravate my friend, but the phrase is 'join up'. Joint up is what you do when you and your mates have an ounce or two of the wacky-baccy (mary-j, weed, Ethiopian ganja, buddha sticks, apocynum cannabinum or just plain old marijuana). This document looks like its got some relevant info. Check out section 3.8 :). However, I know for sure that there's others on these forums that can give you a much more satisfying answer that I shall look forward to as well!
  4. I used to run DCS: World on an i5 laptop ... as long as I tweaked the settings to optimize fps and I'd average between 25 - 30 most times ... but here's a BIG but ... this was flying as the only aircraft in the mission. As soon as I loaded a mission with more a bit happening in it, my rig would die. I now fly on a dedicated PC (it's still only an i5 3570) with a mid-range GPU (Radeon HD 7850) and have heaps 'o fun on high settings :D. For DCS, it's definitely worthwhile to make the commitment to get something decent at relatively low cost (I only paid in the vicinity of $750 AU to build mine and could've probably pared it down even more) ... otherwise it becomes an exercise in frustration and pain!
  5. Man .. that Tornado looks so schmick! I'm definitely getting that one Phant when it comes out!
  6. ... a MOUSE!? Just curious, do you fly with a mouse as well ... because if you do, you're the best flying mouse I've seen! :D I've been holding off getting CA as land warfare on a PC never really interested me, but if you think it's good ... I'll need to reconsider. Thanks for the heads up Leafer old mate .
  7. Just had my first flight in FC3 ... and loving it! It's so good to fly the old Flanker at decent speeds again after doddering around the weeds in the old A-10 for too long ;). So ... to keep my post on topic, I really appreciate Wag's update re 6DOF 3D cockpit upgrades for the SU27 ... so hopefully it becomes as gorgeous as the F15C's cockpit.
  8. A bit like the GREAT OMNIPRESENT KAHUNA in the sky really ... Wags forgive me my trespasses, as I should forgive those bumwipes who trespass against me ... and thank-you for leading me into temptation ... I will buy FC3 soon, for thine is the Fidelity, the Visuals and the Flight Modelling ... forever and ever, Amen.
  9. Sounds interesting. Just test it, no need to think up anything fancy just yet, wouldn't you just want to know if it works before commiting to anything intricate and 'functional'? :) Might give it a go myself ...
  10. I can't believe I missed this thread! Yes of course we need Cold War Era.
  11. Isn't Ermagerd a security company?
  12. Brilliant! Let us know when it's done mate! :)
  13. Awesome work Scudslaker, I've subscribed to your channel! When will you release your project?
  14. Ewe sud it munn!
  15. Ah yes. Looking forward to this one. Been practicing on the BK117 a lot (which is pretty awesome in its own right!).
  16. SUBS old mate, you are irrepressible and that's a fact! Rep inbound for an ANZAC mate! :) Aaron, I totally agree, but I'm unable to rep you it seems ... says I have to spread the love around before I rep you again. End of the year is nigh so in case I don't 'see' you guys until next year, my wish for everyone here ... A HAPPY NEW YEAR and may your lives through 2013 be a prosperous, safe and a fulfilling experience. Peace and friendship amigo's Kris (aka Teapot)
  17. Always? That's a non-compromising attitude! Sounds like they'll have a limited future then  I did .. I deactivated my existing copies of VRS, FSX and P3D :music_whistling: ... steaming pile of cods-wallop that they were ... BUT .. just different strokes I guess. :D
  18. My favourite's at the moment are Javier Rollon's magnificent BAe Jetstream 32 and CRJ-200, Tom Kyler's venerable MU-2 and the BK117 helicopter by ND Art & Technology. They rock the socks off any other GA flying sim in my opinion, particularly modelling heli's. I also own most of Carenado's stuff as well (for both P3D and XP) and IMO the XP versions are more detailed (comparing same aircraft), fly smoother and 'feel' like an aircraft should. With regards to scenery, I'm finding that my rig can handle the 'Extreme' settings (averaging 35 - 40 fps around major cities) ... and those cities look great and believable. I run an i5 3570 (3.4 GHz) with 8 Gb RAM and an AMD Radeon 7800 series card (Gigabyte) ... so as you can see my system's not top of the stack. Bottom line, if you want to give XP 10 a 'genuine' go, you have to jump in and devote some time to it. IMO trying the demo is an exercise in the developing of misleading assumptions about the product ... so ... different strokes for different folk, but I've put P3D back on my system to remind me of how much I DON'T like it as a simulation! VBG Cheers!
  19. And his somewhat brusque bordering on rude response to a person that was genuinely trying to help him ... :P
  20. Good answer Yurgon ... trimming works as described. I'm using the Saitek x52Pro with the Pro rudder pedals.
  21. A 'hi-fidelity' sandbox sim. You get to build your sandcastles the way you want in the sandbox ... eventually! Other posters, Re the P-51D, I agree completely, it's the yardstick by which we can compare any other aircraft from all other WWII flight simulation. While other sims may have well developed WWII environments, these so called 'hard core' WWII sim's implementation of the P-51 is a joke by comparison. I can understand that they're catering for a mass market and necessarily dumb down the flight model and handling characteristics, but that is not what they tell the audience. I remember (somewhat vaguely) that IL2 was touted as being 'realistic' ... what a laugh! So, like others my focus has shifted. I couldn't stomach IL2, CloD, FSX etc any longer so I removed them from my HD. Now, like others I wait and hope that someone will take the first step and create a beaut adversary for the P-51 :).
  22. It's out and fabulous!
  23. Ah, JRollon's BAE Jetstream 31/32. Hanging out for that one Phantom old mate. BTW, I'm Kris Pryo on the other forum!
  24. Mate! DCS World is not designed to be a period specific sim IMO. Think of it like a huge box full of lego bits. What you make of those bits of lego is up to the campaign/mission designer ... and the lego bits are all the simulated objects. So these "lego bits" we currently have at our disposal aren't numerous enough to create a coherent theater campaign (except modern) ... yet. But hopefully through the fullness of time (always wanted to use that phrase in a sentence .. corny huh?), we will have enough lego bits to create all of our pet scenarios! It all has to start somewhere! :D To paraphrase a film ... if Eagle Dynamics builds it, we'll all come and play ...
