  1. The default tyre screech is easily editable ... just remember to not overwrite the edited file each time you update! :) C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Desktop\X-Plane 10\Resources\sounds\contact\skid_dry.wav Or in the aircraft folder if it has it's own default sound.
  2. PMDG are officially working on a plane for X-Plane. I'd wager that the iXEG 737 Classic will also be of the same level of detail and it's due out in fall (paraphrasing Tom Kyler's best guess ... he' one of the 737's developers). Cheers!
  3. I did do a successful update using the DCS World updater to 1.2.3 and I also had to sacrifice an activation for each of my modules. Is there something that I need to be aware of to stop this from happening when I update to the next series? On at least 2 of my modules I noted that I only had 4 activations left. Cheers!
  4. How come your view is stuck? I take it you're not using TrackIR or equivalent?
  5. Also clouds and the smoke puffs look much better in HDR .. the smoke puffs change to heat blur. Depending on how you stack the layers in WEATHER you can get a similar effect as in REX ..
  6. The ability to go prone' is a crude simulation of what infantry do. Obviously I did 'read' your post but maybe because this is the Internet and it's a fairly fluid and open discussion ... and I don't have access to the inner most recesses of your brain ... it is just marginally possible that the discussion might stray a little from any restrictions presumed by you :D. Please loosen up.
  7. Any infantry 'simulation' will be a joke. I'd prefer an extrapolation of cause and effect rather than having infantry simulated to a one man one unit proposition. Simulations can be good for procedural training, and even a bit of suspension of disbelief can creep in and make it and engrossing gaming experience ... with the current state of technology we see decent simulations of vehicles and we can interact with the 'realistically' ... but simulating a man on foot? I don't think home based mass market computing technology is ready for that yet.
  8. Oh? I thought Holland was already flat before WWII? :D
  9. It's most likely because he's posting from the Twilight Zone :D. Not sure if the cockpit works properly where you are. I suspect that the colours would be kinda psychedelic ... sort of a Dali-esque MiG29 cockpit with melting gauges :P
  10. The svelte and exotic Sue was always a mighty fine looker and was the reason I was first attracted to the Flanker series (SSI Flanker 1.2 thru till present day). A dependable personality with very few vices, great legs, terrific body and now she's just outrageously gorgeous all over! What's not to love?
  11. The other thing to watch out for with the X52 Pro is that you don't double up button assignment between your Saitek profile and the default joystick button assignments in DCS (C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\A-10C (*substitute module of choice)\Input\give-it-a-name-or-default-but-make-a-copy-first.lua). I've learned to keep it all very neat and to be scrupulous in the separation between programming native Saitek and key/button assignments from within DCS. If you're uncertain don't mix the two. If you work it out, mixing the two can provide for some interesting possibilities/combinations. Lastly, watch out for slider assignment if you assign the extremes of the slider to two different key presses. I reckon people sometimes forget leaving the slider pushed to one end of the extreme and cause a keyboard buffer overflow.
  12. I apologise.
  13. Sufferin' jehosaphat mate, give the whinging a flaming rest will yer? We get it old son, the sim don't run to your satisfaction, but ... it runs great for many others ... and ... there's ONE possibility you haven't yet factored in to the problems you're having ...
  14. Actually, be honest ... it's a veiled complaint ;). Also, you're right, there's nothing wrong with incremental patches, however your idea of what an 'increment' obviously differs from ED's as you outline the detail of how it 'should' be according to you ... You know what I reckon? I reckon creative 'producing' individuals must have a gut-full of this sort of 'free' advice.
  15. A very definite +1
  16. JUST a bunch of colored spots?! Neiiigh! Blasphemer! They isn't JUST a bunch of colored spots! They is a bunch of colored spots where each spot is meticulously placed to form an intimate juxtaposition relative to it's neighbor to create an evocative and delicate ambiance through the catalytic effect of light on perspective ... I believe the terrain makers experience exactly the same motivation ... Harrummph! Just imagine the complaints when we hit the post modernist cubist era ... DCS Terrain Makers Historical Association tour guide: "yes ... the terrain was INTENTIONALLY flat green ... we like to call it the GREEN period (and it remained green regardless of FL) ... and as you can tell by the vertical placement of the taxiways, that while it was extremely difficult to prosecute a ramp start, it did make a definite statement regarding the effects of selective viewing of phenomena ... moving right along we have ..." :music_whistling:
  17. You're right of course ... but it's great for the old ego, trust me.:D Gather 'round kids, ole uncle Teapot's got some war-stories to tell'yer ... did I tell'yer I was awesome ... once? :megalol:.
  18. They are 8 way .... As you note ... the limitation to 4 way is within DCS ... probably because the function doesn't require an 8 way switch, but as Suchaz said ... ALL the hat switches in the X52Pro are 8 way :). Cheers.
  19. ... really? You really said "mike mike" !? Oh brother ... However I agree that the OP was rather trollish given the recent influx of great information.
  20. Cold War gone hot would be a much better scenario because: much more potential heaps more FUNNER ... we get to play the whole world; including the ME hypothetical's with a historical bent are cool can be the sequel of a WWII scenario!! :D
  21. Hehehe! I like it!
  22. I didn't paint you any which way. You do that all by yourself! :D As you present these ... it comes across as your opinion, obviously based on what you've assessed, but how about sharing some sources ... so others may draw their own conclusions? As it stands you come across as saying "well this is my assessment and if you don't agree you all must be stupid". In fact I believe you actually used words to that effect in one of your posts in this thread. Again ... you haven't shared any facts (and you haven't "hurt" my feelings either :D). You've shared the results of *your* fact finding without providing a primary (or even a secondary) source. You could very well be right in your assessment, but you should share sources and *then* discuss. Not start scoffing at the possibility that some might disagree ... before anyone else sees the sources; which form the basis for your conclusions. Well, this is exactly what I mean. You appear to be using an odious debating tactic to show how 'stupid' the other side must be .. however comparisons of the i7 and the Celeron have no actual bearing on the discussion at hand ... except to highlight yet again that you don't know how to participate in civilized discussion ... old chap :megalol:. Look mate, I'm just sayin' lay off the strident approach a bit ... let us savour the moment (we know a bit more about the future planes) and we'll all toss around the figures and comparisons when the planes are actually released! Up to this point it will all be conjecture!
  23. Good on you young fella. Good to see young blood!
  24. I'm sure no one's upset about anything old chap ... however you do appear to be spouting a lot of opinion disguised as fact. That's just steam roller tactics old boy, and not at all conducive to a civilized discussion. Now, had you begun this rather rambling dissertation of yours by presenting verifiable numbers instead of making assumptions based on your subjective interpretation and extrapolation of some dubious reality, I'm sure most of us on the 'west' of the DCS divide would happily have acquiesced. However, you should admit that your attempt at impartiality has been seriously eroded by an all too readily apparent "tone", as of one who has little expectation that there can be anything like a sporting attitude from the other once the balance (so you say) is turned. Off course, that assumes that you're right in your extrapolation of available facts. I think on the other hand, that while the SU-27SM will be a magnificent jet, it won't be entirely as you surmise. But that is my opinion ... Maybe that is your plan? Maybe if the SU-27SM performs on par with the F-15C you may wail and gnash your teeth and cry 'Oh Eagle Dynamics' most foul, stench of the virtual skies .. (wail, wail gnash, gnash) ... but didn't that which I foretold come to pass? This is not a realistic sim ... etc, etc ... :D For me I enjoy both east and west and look forward to flying the both ... not because I wish to perpetuate any misguided sense of virtual patriotism, but because I like playing these fine simulations! Good day sir!
  25. I dunno with the younger gen these days ... Where's the respect? :megalol:
