How many sparrow hawks were made? It could be that’s what some of us really want. I get the historic perspective and understand the appreciation some have for the A/B. The current HUD is very limited and it seems like a real step back after flying the Hornet. I still enjoy it, the module is just an bit more analog than I like. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I like Early Access it allows for the gradual learning of systems. Accusations of sniveling and pouting are pretty nasty personal attacks. There is a valid complaint when the first EA purchased product (Hornet) is no longer seeing significant updates, resources are redirected to second purchased EA product (Viper) and long awaited significant updates are applied to the second EA product (Viper) first. It’s their company to run but it is also reasonable for paying customers to raise concerns and ask for future consideration. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Uh,...because there is a hook switch right above the landing gear lever that is whispering “come on, you know you want to try this, why not head out to that carrier” lol Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

It is sometimes hard to find the right words to describe dissatisfaction when a person is angry. Our relationship with ED is much more long term than with other game companies. ED continuously evolves and updates are usually every two weeks. Do they address what I wanted or expected each update, Nope. They do what fits their workflow. You can be a loyal fan and express dissatisfaction with issues at the same time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I own both the Hornet and Viper, so I benefit from any update. But....to release a long awaited feature like TWS into the Viper before the Hornet is extremely poor corporate messaging directed at Hornet owners. There was already a measure of dissatisfaction that Hornet developers were moved to the Viper and this rubs salt into an open wound. Hopefully, in the future the perception of this messaging will be taken into consideration. Releasing features that are found in both modules should be simultaneous. I enjoy the digital playground ED has created, look forward to any and all improvements you release and truly hope you take this as the constructive criticism it is meant to be. Well all have to make certain adjustments / artistic freedom with the materials we have to work with. The Harrier Manual is on the net. If you blow the picture up to 400% at Kinkos it’s going to be pretty close to what you are trying to accomplish. The set I had made for the Hornet resulted in the standard panel width being spot on. Have fun you are breaking new ground. If you want to tweak the prints see if can gain access to a static model and take a couple measurements for reference to adjust the zoom %. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Thanks for sharing your work. Would you mind sharing your parts list? Thanks

Anyone come across this beast?

Which map? NTTR? Do you have the coordinates? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Congratulations you have been infected by the SimPit bug. So many ways to approach what you want to do. Check out Leo Bodnar cards they offer USB plug and play and the cards have individual serial numbers so windows won’t mix up inputs when using more than 1 card, which you will need for 169 inputs. I chose Bodnar for switches , rotaries, potentiometers because I can use the inputs directly within DCS for input assignment with more than one module. I am using DCSBios for LEDs and displays. Good luck and have fun. There are so many ways to get where you want to go. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

(FSF)Ian, Wow, thanks for jumping in here, honored for your response. The question of “how do I” is a much better way of approaching a challenge. Some of the challenges to mimicking the UFC is a lack of readily available components, such as the scratch pad with a single line of 13 digits and the colon display which extends to 5 digits. Ready made components like the adafruit seem to have 1 or 4 digits packaged with a controller chip. The adafruit design offer selectable i2c addresses enabling the use of 1 Arduino to control the displays but no ability to display the colon. The display used by teacypher doesn’t have selectable i2c addresses and his post made me aware there was an 12c multiplexer even available. I thought I was going to have to use a single Arduino per display. Not very efficient. Teacyphers approach is much more efficient. Now it is making it work. The displays he chose are: https://www.ebay.com/itm/0-91-128x32-IIC-I2C-Blue-OLED-LCD-Display-DIY-Module-DC3-3V-5V-For-PIC-Arduino/401234789687?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 They are relatively inexpensive and if displayed behind green plexiglass should look acceptable. For the scratchpad it’s learning how to create a controller for 13 digits as a single line. How do I? Still remains an open question. After watching a bunch of soldering videos I went with a Weller temperature adjustable station. Much more comfortable to use than the cheap one I had before.

Here is another link where a single display for the five displays was discussed. So many potential ways to approach this. And then there is the odd number os digits on the scratch pad..... https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=249299

I ordered clone alphanumerics like adafruit and found the PCB was too large to fit all them in the UFC. The lack of the colon to ID the selected input really bugged me it seemed the displays he used would allow colons to be displayed. The displays he used have no i2c selections and it was teacyphers post that made me aware an i2c multiplexer even existed. Can DCSBios display both the text and the colon on the same display? Not sure if you are interested in trying another display but the ones he is using are $3 So far my attempts at DCSBios are cut and paste. Basically, plagiarism with no real understanding of the how the code works. It’s frustrating to have an idea and lack the depth of knowledge to move it from concept. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I am truly hoping you can use this to bring the UFC to life with a relatively simple solution. It is unfortunately beyond me at this point in my understanding of how these components work. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Fix54, Not sure if you have seen the posts by teacypher on his harrier pit. If I understand correctly. He is using an i2c multiplexer to run several displays from one Arduino. He has a GitHub where he posted his code. Might help simplify where you are headed with your project. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=252684

From PAGE 1 of the Github where you downloaded from “ Some aircraft systems are non-functional Certain systems are either unimplemented or unable to be replicated by the developers at this time. These include, but are not limited to radio, in-flight refueling, D-704 Buddy refueling pod, and Walleye guided missiles.”

Make sure to use the thread tools and have notification emails sent. After you subscribe to a few threads you will see why the frustration is so prevalent. Players that don’t read and the players that feel the need to troll them make up 80% of the notifications received.

Not a decision you want to make off forum advice, Contact Samsung. Given the reported issues this is not an HMD I would forfeit a warranty over to save a couple dollars.

I am using Bodnar for switches so I can use and assign all of them across every module. 3 BBI-64 and 3-BU0836x. That’s the number I am at so far. I am using Arduino and DCSBios for the LED indicators. I am still working on learning and understanding this thread to modify the .lua file to use less inputs. For me hardware is easy and software is hard. You can edit commands to allow a toggle to combine commands with press and release. Toggle up-gear up, toggle down-gear down, using an on/off switch and only one input on the card. Currently I have been using on/on switches and two inputs on the cards. These edits also remove out of sync switch positions between your pit and what’s on screen in DCS. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=89226 I picked Bodnar because they have individual serial numbers so each card is always recognized and button assignments never get swapped between them. I also bought but haven’t tried a Phidgets64 card to run the LEDs. That would be configured thru Helios. This might make LEDs less module specific than DCSBios. This project is never ending as far as tweaks/changes go. I will never say this is the best way, just the way I picked for what I wanted out of my build. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
