  1. It’s incapable of compensating for DA, weight, altitude, static port placement issues. There’s a reason it’s an ‘indicated’ airspeed, not a true or calibrated airspeed.
  2. Airspeed indicator has inherent flaws, and the AoA gauges fix one of them. For short field landings, the AoA gauge will be much better for your performance and safety margins than your AS gauge. It doesn't matter the DA, the weight or the bank angle. It's always right. https://www.ntsb.gov/safety/mwl/Pages/mwl7_2015.aspx Costs are coming down for GA. But, as good as they are, if you're a crappy pilot, another gauge ain't gonna help you.
  3. Reading through this http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/12009/the-agm-122-sidearm-came-to-be-from-a-novel-missile-recycling-scheme And comparing to the performance I’ve seen from the Sidearm, I notice a lack of pop up maneuver in close, which has caused me to lose a few to trees in close. I also notice a lack of peripheral damage, which may come down to the damage modeling. The exploding rod should at least take out the dish if not destroy the vehicle. I’ve never seen it pop up, but after 3 missiles into an SA-6 radar, it did stop functioning despite still looking intact.
  4. So what needs to be placed in order to rearm/refuel the Harrier roadside?
  5. Damn it.....found this on reddit. Looks like I'm going to have to go do some real life crap for a while and hope they get it fixed by the time I get back!
  6. If anyone else has this problem, launch a mission and edit the controls from the in mission menu. That’s the only thing that worked for me.
  7. I flew an approach into Batumi last night and it worked fine. Did you double check your switches?
  8. Same issue here, hope this gets fixed ASAP.
  9. I’ve got an old X-52, it’s not the equipment, it’s the user. Small movements, potentially lots of them. Trim trim trim, and work that throttle. I find the throttle moves more than anything else. When you make a move to reduce throttle, put 1/2 of it back in. When you add throttle, take 1/2 of it back out. This helps you arrest momentum shifts, and then set a new throttle position. And if you can get VR, do it. Amazing how much easier it is in VR, as the small shifts in motion are sensed rather than seen. With the KC-135 I focus on the wing box, and keeping it in the same relative position.
  10. Magic Carpet Ride.
  11. This situation could be dealt with by having a true SEAD aircraft available to sweep the battlefield before the Warthogs arrived. Need some Wild Weasels.
  12. Hey Skeeter, If you’re on Facebook check out vRCAF https://m.facebook.com/groups/1929469463959959 We’re currently flying the CF-5, CF-18(mod) and the Huey. We’re looking forward to running the new Hornet when it’s released. We’ve also got members flying a bit of the Mirage, A-10, and the Harrier. The group does MP training missions, fun practices, and also larger coordinated multi squadron hops with different tasks assigned. Good group of guys, not too serious, and just like to have fun. Also on Discord https://discord.gg/Jbq5BWG Hope to see you around!
  13. I turned off deferred shading and it made a big difference with the washed out appearance and the blinding effect of the sun in the Rift. HDR was already off.
  14. Already off, doesn't make a difference.
  15. By a couple of missions in, you should be able to navigate to these by pilotage. I don’t even bother turning on the tacan any more.
  16. My FPS sits at between 22-25 on the ground at Nellis. If I’m looking east, it comes up to 45, and as soon as I’m up past 5000’ it holds steady at 45, and by the time I make the turn north for the Nellis tacan 285 for 73 I’m sitting at 90 and it doesn’t drop. For me I think it’s the huge amount of AI on the ramp at Nellis, but I don’t mind the poor frames while looking at all the jets during startup and taxi. i7 6700k @ 4.7 980Ti @ 1500mhz
  17. Well, none of the real world FA-18 pilots prepped by flying th A-10C, so I'd say the F-5 or the Hawk. The Canadian Air Force used the F-5 as a lead in fighter training aircraft before adopting the Hawk. The USAF uses the T-38 (similar to the F-5), and the US Navy uses a version of the Hawk for training. With regard to systems, if you already fly the A-10, you're probably going to fine with adapting to the systems in the Hornet. I wouldn't go out and buy the A-10 to learn the systems because you're just going to need to learn another set of systems on the Hornet. The military has lead in fighters, to train with aircraft with high speeds, g-forces and closure rates more along the lines of what they're going to fly and fight in.

    What Map?

    Carrier ops from Lake Mead.
  19. That's a legacy hornet. UFC is old school. Video is great though!
  20. I can confirm it happened to me as well, hit the RVCP on time, but i watched the tanker turn in off my left wing, and it fell into trail behind me about 7NM back. I circled back and got it. SharkBaztard, you can change the autosequencing on the CDU in the Flight Plan Menu, toggle between manual/auto.
  21. Yeah, I made it through the 1st AAR mission and no music :(
  22. Simply repairing didn't work. I moved the file to another folder and then when I ran the repair, it replaced it. Works now! I'm now BFT qualified :) nice little touch with all the infantry running out, but I kinda expected the music to start playing, got used to hearing it after a pass!
  23. There should be a section of flexible hose and a basket on there. None of this probe to probe stuff :megalol:
  24. There's a modification for the KC-135 that's referred to as the Iron Maiden, not popular with Navy pilots and very temperamental. https://fightersweep.com/2881/why-navy-pilots-hate-the-kc-135/
  25. I've gone through both missions 11 and 12, and both of them have the FE flying along at 138 knots. While it's possible to pass 11 like this ( just horribly frustrating) it's impossible to pass 12 because you can't hit any of the waypoints on time. This starts from the initial meet up at way point 3(?) just inside the MOA, the FE just parks it at 138, and causes you to fly with flaps and boards out. I'm itching to get this passed and move onto the next campaign, other than this bug, it's been fantastic, a really great way to learn the A-10. Tony
