  1. This topic came up again last night for us. I tried it on the latest openbeta, PG map, and it appears to have zero effect. Looks like it's back to not working. ETA - Specifically ground units of all types.
  2. For me the startup sounds are extremely faint. Is this by design? I think they should be much louder. The sounds in the air are spot on.
  3. I'm not entirely clear on this - Do I need just the seat, or the seat plus simshaker for DCS?
  4. I realize it's only been out a short time, but we still need a thread to discuss. Thinking about the plus, but I really want to hear some reports from DCS pilots that have shaken it out a bit. I can't find anything DCS specific but some reviews I saw indicate that the anti SDE technology does work. If someone's already digging in to DCS with the Odyssey plus, please share your experiences & impressions.
  5. What's the difference between the 908 and FSE models in terms of motors/power/etc.? Trying to decide which one I want. My gaming chair is kind of narrow. Thanks!
  6. Thanks for the suggestion! That's actually working BEAUTIFULLY.
  7. Pointing out, a UH-60 could also include the DAP (guns 'n stuff). ;-) We really do need a more modern US lift helo. Everyone would buy this. And I mean:
  8. It works in VR, to the extent that you can sit in the co pilot's seat and look at it and use it. What doesn't work is the popup/overlay that exposes it in a larger way, as it does for non-VR. So you can still use it (and I do), but you have to sit on the right side, and VR-zoom in on it to do anything meaningful. I use a toggle switch secondarily for VR zoom which lets me remain zoomed in. I agree with Mr_Sukebe, this probably isn't a priority but we can hope!
  9. Are there skins out there for all/some of the DCS ground vehicles in tan/brown/desert? It seems out of place putting woodland camo vehicles on a desert. IMHO most of the skin choices for the vehicles are a wash. They can't be distinguished from each other in flight. A tan one would be a different story.
  10. I experimented some more. Load a very small mission with one aircraft in it in multiplayer. Then once loaded successfully, ESC, choose slot, and from that screen at the bottom "Change Mission," and select the actual one. This seems to get past it mostly reliably. ETA - what I believe this is accomplishing is successfully initializing a MP/NET code against a very small/simple mission, when it won't initialize with a larger one.
  11. We really do need a modern lift helicopter, so I'll throw in for either the UH-1Y Venom or the UH-60. Everyone would jump on either of these with both feet, hard. The 60 has civilian variants, so it should have no classification barriers in terms of obtaining the flight manual.
  12. Thanks @Rudel_chw!
  13. Which mod has the civilians???? I've been looking for that for like forever.
  14. He just said.... - if you want to put some in, contact the right people and they will take a look.
  15. It seems sling loads can neither be spawned, nor deposited upon the deck of a ship. If you drop one there it just slides off the back and floats in the ocean. Kinda funny actually. With CTLD I can spawn a crate on a nonmoving ship, but it won't be F6-sling-loadable. Just wondering if anyone's worked a creative solution out for this. Thanks!
  16. I found a workaround that operates most of the time: Bear in mind, this is a dedicated server I'm doing this on, where nobody ever actually flies ON it directly. 1 - Delete all folders in saved games other than config, mods, missions. 2 - Start DCS as "Run as Administrator." 3 - (wait, a long time) 4 - Profit.

  18. We've started doing this with "Training Tuesdays." Selected Tuesdays we are taking on guests for some rotorcraft only training on all airframes. We typically spend some time on: Formation and other types of takeoff plans Formation flight Navigation Traffic patterns ---- And then we move on to doing a short practice mission to exercise teamwork, communications, and planning. Last Tuesday we did a vehicle interdiction. Huey's, Mi-8's and Gazelle L's. Went like this: There were four checkpoints located around a 20Km radius of Novorossiysk. Among and between these checkpoints were up to 20 enemy transport vehicles. When a vehicle went through a checkpoint, they notified us of it. The vehicles all took random routes and spawned at 20+ different locations so it was completely randomized. When a vehicle was located, we would set up and engage it. As soon as it was hit, it would coast to a stop, and a squad of enemy infantry would un-ass the truck and start engaging. They also fired RPG's. Great fun with the Huey's miniguns, and also the Mi-8's door gunners.
  19. When I join my dedicated server (local, same switch) DCS defaults to the v6 IP. So IPv6 works. You won't be able to get it to appear in the list however, as the IPv6 isn't going out of your provider's router and making it all the way to the DCS data center. Just join by IPv6 IP, and you will be fine.
  20. Having moved this manually to the correct section, it seems all I can now bind it to is my rudder pedals. What else has to be changed?
  21. Really good ones pointed out here already and everyone's answer to this is going to be right. For me, North of Lar the mountains and roads twist and turn quite a bit. Very nice. I also really like Havadarya. The amount of stuff available from that runway is amazing. Ports, refineries, cities, towns, terrain features, ships, islands... Also check out the Minhab dam.
  22. Hey Suntsag great job here as usual. I really like the sounds you have in the CTLD JTAC video. Are they available anywhere?
  23. CTLD is by far the easiest way to do this. Load Mist 4.3.74 or whatever the latest is with a condition of TIME MORE 3 Load CTLD with a condition of TIME MORE 5 Assuming your unit is named JTAC1, you run a DO SCRIPT trigger with this content: ctld.JTACAutoLase('JTAC1', 1688, false,"all") And it will immediately start lasing.
  24. My top maps would be: 1 - Israel 2 - Cold war era Germany (Fulda gap to Berlin) 3 - Horn of Africa (Somalia) 4 - Bosnia / Serbia
  25. I point out that the changelog is only highlights. We've frequently found many things were fixed apart what is reported there. Don't forget they are working on a dedicated server as well. This is something that helps ALL of us, not just discrete modules.
