  1. I was hitting 80 FPS consistently but backed off a few settings (shadows to low, grass, traffic and smoke off, water medium and visibility to high and nothing on below water) That allowed me to hit 90 most of the time, and always at altitude. OXRTK CAS sharpening 100% and nothing else; Pimax OpenXR with Quadviews unchecked, Quadviews FFR and Companion tweaked a little and Turbo off. Good luck, we have very similar systems
  2. I did the cold start and waited for the two MiGs to taxi past. FPS stayed solid 90 and CPU went from 5.8ms to 6.9ms, no change in GPU frame time. Good luck with the reinstall. I run with Turbo off, though I have tried it both ways with no perceptible change. And yes, I only fly in VR. I encountered the severe stuttering on the Iraq map on a long flight from Kirkuk to Mosul, then east over the Iraq/Iran border mountains, then back to Kirkuk. The worst stuttering was over the mountains. I did the same flight last night after the changes (above) and no stuttering at all. Finally, I run a 4k monitor as primary and a 1440 as second monitor. After the last firmware update (PCL headset), I could not get Pimax Play to recognize my headset. I also encountered the mouse bug for the first time. After some advice from Pimax and a lot of experimenting I solved it by making the 1440 primary monitor and leaving the 4k off when I boot up. Something about a conflict with a high resolution display and Pimax. No problems since (fingers crossed).
  3. I just did a major upgrade to my CPU and GPU (in sig) and was generally happy after a month or so of tuning. But flying a mission last night over the mountains between Iraq and Iran on the new map, I had the stutter issue every couple of minutes, CPU times going from 4ms to 40 and fps going from 90 to 12. Then it would go back to normal and repeat the stutter. I followed the advice in this thread and did the same route tonight with no stutters and fps usually at 90 and no lower than 85 or so. I did a few MS 11 changes, but I think it was the shift from TAA to DLSS quality and lowering the visibility from Ultra to High that did it.
  4. I think you would do at least as good in fps with better visuals. In fact, I just ordered a 4090 for my rig. Quadviews is a fixed foviated rendering program that works with DCS that gives you better performance by limiting the resolution in the periphery of your view. Google it, there is a ton of info on how it works. The companion program just makes it easier to adjust the settings in quadviews. Quadviews works with the G2 as well, but it is now integrated into the Pimax software.
  5. I would think so, that is a lot of horsepower. It takes a couple of weeks to dial everything in, with settings in Pimax Play, Quadviews companion and DCS. But that is pretty similar to the time I spent dialing in the G2. DCS has made major improvements that have made VR more efficient, at least for me. DLSS helps as well. The quadviews settings are the most crucial to performance.
  6. I have an i9-11900 and a 3090. I used a G2 for years and was finally happy with it with the improvements in DCS. Tried a PCL with the intention of sending it back if I didn’t like it. It took some work tinkering with Pimax Play, Quad views and Quad Views companion, but as of now I could not be happier with it. It runs about the same or better than the G2 in terms of FPS, but clarity and the area in focus are way better than the G2 and I can run it with similar settings in DCS to the G2 (high on most settings, low or off on shadows) and use TAA instead of DLSS with the jets, DLSS on balanced with the choppers. I might have been lucky, but no problems at all. It is not as comfortable as the G2 but there are aftermarket pads that help a lot.
  7. Mine does that too and I don’t use SteamVR or lighthouses. They said the update improved tracking, maybe it now resets tracking and causes the no tracking message temporarily when you first launch the software.
  8. Thanks, you have been a lot of help even with my 3090. But, does quadviews companion still work when you have set the runtime to Pimax OpenXR? I thought quadviews was run through the Pimax Play settings once you enabled Pimax OpenXR.
  9. Mine too. Fingers crossed. Good luck!
  10. Sr. Same result. I ordered it anyway, I am the happiest I have ever been with my setup with a G2, but am intrigued by the Pimax. Hope it lives up to the reviews.
  11. Very happy to see this thread after struggling with landing in the F4. Jester has used every phrase in his scripts to complain about my landings and finally told me to “learn how to land.” Good advice, I’ll try again tonight.
  12. I’m 72 and have been doing combat flight sims starting when I would do them with one kid on each knee. Those were fun times. I fully understand where you are now. The last two DCS sims I felt enough mastery to engage in combat were the A-10 and the F-18. I have put a lot of time into the AH-64D and am decent with it in semi-controlled situations. These days I am satisfied with learning start up and take off, navigation, landing, and the basic combat systems. I then write my own missions where I can anticipate what I am going to encounter and prepare for it. I add complications as I get better and only then try some of the campaigns. So far I have a terrible time with situational awareness in the F-4E, though I love the sim as it was the first fighter I fell in love with as a kid and Heatblur did an outstanding job. I still love simming, but like many things in life, as I have gotten older I ramp down my expectations. But I still have fun.
  13. I grew up in California in the 1960’s and half a dozen times when hiking or backpacking in the northern and southern high Sierra my buddies and I would be almost knocked off our feet by a pair of F4’s at treetop level flying over us, sweeping down one of the river canyons. Loud beyond loud, but when you heard them they were gone. They weren’t supposed to be in the “pristine airspace” but we loved it and I have loved the F4 ever since. Can’t wait…
  14. I had added the 5 settings to my Black Shark profile and the latest driver reset them. I had to re enter them.
  15. I’ve been quiet here, being one of those who wanted to but could not see any differences. Took several approaches, new profiles and use of the existing profile, and nothing. Finally cleared everything and edited the DCS Black Shark profile as suggested by Supuma on page 4 and bingo. Just flew the route on the instant action AH 64D mission on Tinian, and was blown away by the 3d imagery. That has very special meaning for me as my dad was a Navy medic in WW II and finished on Tinian after action on the surrounding islands. He was there and watched when the Enola Gay took off. It was all secret but they could tell something unprecedented and terrifying was happening. I don’t want to get into the morality of it all on this forum, but it is special to me to be able to fly a helicopter around the island where my dad ended his 4 tough years of service.
  16. Actually I’m rather glad this is not real life, or I would have died long ago. A definitive answer from someone who knows, that is not based on classified info, would put this issue to rest one way or the other.
  17. I use smart plugs to turn my G2 headset and auxiliary computer cooling fans on and off. It’s easy with a smartphone and you don’t have to crawl around plugging and unplugging every time you fire up the computer.
  18. Do you need to first enable NIS in the Nvidia control panel to use the openvr 2.0 NIS setting? If so what setting are you using on the sharpening slider?
  19. For render scale?
  20. I’ve noticed the fog too.
  21. We are running SOH ragged these days because he is so helpful, but I’ll throw in my two cents while you wait for his answer. I noticed a slight degradation in clarity with FSR as well, with the same settings. However I thought it was worth it given the improvement in performance. Unlike SOH, I also use Reshade using the settings SOH tried. I find it adds enough sharpening that I am happy with the combined result. I also run Kegety’s shaders.
  22. As another retiree who just benefits from all the work you guys do, wish I could buy you a beer! In any case, thanks so much. It is greatly appreciated.
  23. I was running basically the same set of mods as you and was also happy with the performance. I was experimenting to see what mods still run and had the same error with Simplex, which I had never used before. Turns out I had version 2.0 in my files. 2.1 works, as given in the link be SOH.
  24. I have been waiting for this since Janes AH64 D Longbow. I played the entire campaign with my two sons, one on each knee. One was 4 one was 6. Original Thrustmaster controls. They are in their early 30’s now and I won’t tell you how old I am. But I feel like a kid in a candy store, lol.
  25. I mainly use the mouse though I also have the right and left mouse buttons bound to keys on my throttle. I also put little squares of the fuzzy side of Velcro on important anchor points on my keyboard, like F1, F5 and F10.
