I started with RC1 last night and wondered what I had done wrong. Switched to the alpha and I get the performance improvement without much of an increase in shimmering, but enough of a degradation in clarity that I went back to just Kegety’s and the Reshade mod. Thanks for the tip, Sr. I’ll try those settings later today.

Love your enthusiasm. Keep it up. There are many wise guys, oops, I mean VR gurus who post in this forum who have invaluable info about tuning your system. Don’t get carried away at first or you won’t have time to fly and enjoy the sim, but believe me, their advice works. Speed of Heat is a good place to start as he has done a lot of testing and compiled a lot of info on mods and tuning. In any case, welcome!

Actual startup procedure for DCS VR with WMR. :)

I turn the G2 on and off with a smart plug using my phone. Same with external fans for my computer. -
Loss of quality and frame rates in Reverb G2
DucS2r replied to streakeagle's topic in Virtual Reality
Interesting, I do something similar with the G2. I use a similar startup and if I get stutters just looking around the cockpit before I hit fly I know it will not work right. So I restart and almost always it then works fine, steady 45 FPS and no stutters. And I use Speed of Hear’s settings and most of his hygiene steps. -
Overall I like the new version. Except it added something called NVRLA that can kick in and eat 10 percent of your CPU and cause overheating. You can see it in task manager. I disabled framework to kill it. Doesn’t affect everyone but there was a lot of complaining in the NVIDIA forums.

Different Graphics Settings for VR and monitor
DucS2r replied to GiveMeHanzo's topic in Virtual Reality
You will get this response a lot, but skatezilla’s updater utility does just that in a very straightforward way, though you can’t go back and forth from VR to 2d without exiting. -
Just my luck, bought one direct from HP two weeks ago for $499.

When that happens to me I find activating one of the G2 controllers frees up the mouse. No idea why.

Late to the table here, but just got my G2 today to go with my new computer. Was really disappointed with a severe cross eye effect in DCS. None of the simple remedies helped, but working the sliders did. I focused on a distant object in the hanger and worked the sliders until the images came together and I got the clearest image. Works great, now I get to optimize the rest of the settings. Thanks for the original post and the others that filled in the necessary details.

If you do that please let us know how it works. I am hoping to do the same when my budget recovers after buying a new computer.

As a retired professor I strongly believe that disagreement and civil discourse is how we all learn. It occurs too rarely on social media. This discussion is a great example of civil discourse. Good job, guys.

I really appreciate all the reviews. I have decided to go with the G2 for now. HP has it on sale at their online store for $499 for a few more hours and since I only do seated sims it seems like the best value for me. As things improve with the Pro 2 I may upgrade, but going from a Rift S to the G2 will be a nice step up.

Thanks, Supuma for the excellent and comprehensive review. This is basically what I have been waiting for before again placing my original order. I look forward to trying it and hope the software issues are resolved in a timely fashion.

FedEx has been erratic lately, from 3 days late on an overnight delivery to one day early on a two day delivery of a monitor today. Good luck.

I really appreciate all the reviews. I had a Vive Pro 2 head set on order from Dell until they delayed shipping to the Fall. I recently upgraded my computer with a faster processor and a 3090, and am ready to upgrade from my current Rift S to whichever is better for flight sims: the G2 ot the Pro 2. Your advice and reviews are priceless.
-
Yeah, Dell just moved my shipping from June 8 to November 20, lol. So I canceled and am eagerly awaiting your reviews. I’ll have to figure out another way to use my $250 Dell credit.
-
Dell says next Tuesday, the 8th, for my order.
-
That is my understanding as well. I just ordered the headset and a single V2 base station. I figure I can add more if I need them. I only do seated flight sims. I had a $250 credit at Dell that expired next month so it made the decision to pre order a lot easier.

None so far. In the US. I have never paid tax or fees on any Virpil stuff, I think it is a pretty random thing. I have heard of people being billed months later, but that has never happened to me.

I ran several 4 bomb runs with 31’s (which have always worked for me) and the trouble makers, 38’s and 54’s. All hit close to the mark, usually destroying 3 out of 4 and damaging the fourth. All runs from 20,000 feet in Syria against 4 T90 tanks. I have been delaying release until the caret gets about 1/4 of the way down the staple. Try that, it is possible that is why I hit, there may not have been a fix. That was suggested by someone in another group.
-
I made a couple of runs with the 38’s and 31’s last night and didn’t get any falling way short or overshooting so I think they fixed it. Accuracy seemed fair, but I need to do more testing.
-
Thanks but that doesn’t work for me. Am I missing something?
-
I’ll third that. It’s been great to see all the advances since the early sims and it is nice to sim at night without having to worry about getting up early.

Yeah, sorry. DHL. I don’t think DHS would be my carrier of choice, lol.
