Problem Using Multiple JDAM Deployments with Targeting Pod
DucS2r replied to US_Marine's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I was really hoping for a fix. It used to work. I am not a complainer, but we seem to be moving backwards unless i am really missing something. -
There was a bug in the last beta update that caused the pickle switch to not release bombs in the F-18 for a lot of us. It was fixed in the hot fix on Monday. No harm, no foul.

This thread has been really useful for me. Thanks for all the great advice!

Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do or die. My WWII dad drummed that into me as a kid. And seriously, I have no complaints, I am having nothing but fun with these sims.

This issue is really not one to argue over. Apparently the MFD’s are readable for some but if you look across threads it is an issue for a lot of people and not just VR folks. It needs to be addressed, I basically ignore my MFD’s because I can’t read them.

I have both and prefer VR by a long shot. Be happy to send you my track IR I have no use for it if it is US domestic shipping. If you don’t like it just pass it along. PM me if you are interested. This isn’t a scam, I just hate seeing my stuff go to waste.

I was late to discover ED and the A-10c, because I thought serious flight sims were no longer being produced. The A-10c is great but I will bet I have only mastered 40% of the sim after two years. I got in on the original release of the F-18 and have learned it as the updates came out. I would say I am 80% in terms of mastery. It has been really useful to learn it as others did and offered their critiques and suggestions. I just got the F-16 and it is pretty incomplete, but you can still start to learn the basics along with the rest of us. That is a good learning environment. I would still get both, I love the F-18, and the F-16 is a favorite from the old Falcon 4.0 days.

Nosewheel Steering - Sensitivity slider special options?
DucS2r replied to Schwarzfeld's topic in Wish List
As Wags mentions in his vid, landing the F-16 is really different from the F-18. I struggled a couple of times with AOA and proper flare for a two wheel touchdown. Didn’t crash, but it wasn’t pretty. Getting the hang of it now. Mainly practice and getting to know the plane (again for me). -
There was an announcement that he would be playing a larger role on the forum, and is a spokesman for ED. And I like his style, I think the dialog has improved since he moved into his new role. He has the right temperament for a spokesperson. And I like his avatar. I am not sure where the announcement was.

It’s a big issue for me in both VR and non VR. It is not so much fuzziness for me as a brightness and contrast issue. The background lines are nearly invisible. Has anyone reported this with pics? I could do it if no one has already done it. Thanks.

Congrats! I turned 68 last month and am glad to see I am not the only old guy excited by this. I use the warthog TM HOTAS these days, but found my old Cougar rig from the Falcon 4.0 days. Will at least try the throttle with the USB adaptor.

Is there an option for auto-trim or "trim to center"?
DucS2r replied to Larkis's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
I like having control of the trim. Don’t forget the “state of the art” 737 Max. And I actually teach control theory, lol. -
Hey, I flew two bombing missions in the F 18 last night and got a silver medal for one and a distinguished flying cross for the other. Now that’s realism...:megalol: I agree entirely with your vision of a good dynamic campaign. I would love to see that.

Great pics, thanks for sharing them! It’s always nice to hear from real warriors.

This is sort of my usual dumb post. I am mainly supportive of DCS, I am working on my J-82 bombing as I write this (autopilot). I have at times been critical and had the occasional post deleted, all my fault. But this has been a good discussion, with give and take but mainly civil discourse. Thanks, I think this has been good for we users and I hope it has been good for DCS.

When I post comments like this they usually get deleted. But I think Wags was genuinely excited about what he and others thought was a VR breakthrough and shared it. He shouldn’t have, and in a conservative company, the communications department would have stopped it. I guess I am willing to live with mistakes and keep our user relationship with people like Wags less formal, and not like the stockholder announcements I get from Microsoft. But the statement Ninelines made in post 2, #2 should have been made a long time ago. It would have smoothed things over with we users and avoided a lot of annoyance and mistrust. So, communication with DCS is usually good, especially in the last three months or so, IMHO, but it was a mistake to keep is in the dark about what was going on with the VR improvement.

I realize this is just a ditto post, but without your guides I would not be the fanatical flight simmer I am now. I have written technical manuals and I know how tough it is to do them right. You need an award for the amount and quality of your work!

I have a 1080 and it is fine with the Rift S, given the improvements in software by Oculus and, I guess, DCS. Most of my settings are high, but no shadows, 1.4 PD and 2.0 MSAA. I found it marginal but usable with the CV1, but the better clarity with the S makes it work great at a constant 40 FPS.

Thank you! Much needed.

Thoroughly enjoyed this whole discussion and picked up two great memes. Having once been a programmer, humor is essential, and it is fine to share now and again.
