  1. Indeed . Enjoy the well-deserved holiday break !
  2. Personally , i'm holding off further upgrades pending the upcoming Vulkan/muticore engine . It has become clear that it is DCS itself , not hardware that is the bottleneck .
  3. Most users assign a vr recenter to either a Hotas button or VoiceAttack command .
  4. My number one beef with DCS VR...
  5. Sounds like your best bet is a small button box . There are 2 vr zoom functions (a shorter-range "slow" zoom , and a longer-range "fast" zoom) , and you'll likely need a vr view re-center button as well . Alternatively , if you do find an authentikit button you can use , or take up Sielu's idea , you can set it as a modifier and have a second function available for all buttons/switches on the authentikit .
  6. No worries , i could have been clearer...
  7. VR ? If you decide to go there , you should get the best GPU you can afford . I personally would not consider a 3060 for a new VR build . And in any case , you will almost immediately find a 500 gb ssd to be inadequate .
  8. I agree that the Alder Lake series is much better . Gamer's Nexus YT channel tests pc components (and pre-builts) like no other , and their results show the Intel 10 series actually out-performs the 11 series .
  9. Me too...2 gpu's and 1 new pc since 1.58 tryna keep performance up for VR . Meanwhile , 3 maps and 4 modules only profiting ED . I could think of several aircraft i'd like to add , but can't purchase due to ever-increasing demands of the software . And for me , it's gonna get worse as i plan to "freeze" DCS immediately after seeing a significant performance increase from Vulkan/multicore , and before the further performance-robbing features incoming . That will mean no aircraft modules currently in the pipeline .
  10. By "sim graphic's settings" do you mean to include DCS pd settings in the VR menu ?
  11. +1 . Would be most helpful for VR users as well .
  12. The only reason i read this sub-forum is for the entertainment value (absurdities) , and MFT certainly delivers
  13. Thanks for that . I assume the item at the bottom left shows the component deployment status ? That's what is causing most of the nail-biting !
  14. You really want 32 gb ram for DCS...
  15. I have been flying exclusively in VR for about 3 years now , despite the fact that everything outside the cockpit looks like crap under every circumstance . And yes , the shimmering is a major culprit . I'm hoping the upcoming engine changes will allow addressing this and other graphics issues outside the cockpit .
  16. My "love" and "hate" objects are the same-DCS in VR . The in-cockpit experience is incredible and i am profoundly grateful that ED chose to implement VR . But everything outside the cockpit looks like h*ll - at least at the low altitudes we mudmovers occupy . I'm hopeful that the upcoming engine changes will provide the performance headroom necessary to allow addressing the view beyond the cockpit .
  17. Think Skatezilla noted in another Linux thread that DCS is dependent on several Windows library's .
  18. Do you have xmp enabled in motherboard bios ?
  19. Better to stick with 60hz if you are running TrackIr .
  20. Perhaps an overstatement ? Nothing wrong with Oculus' ASW , or Steam motion smoothing with my GPU .
  21. Hate to be that guy , but you need to dial down your expectations a bit , or you will be sorely disappointed after spending lots of cash . The technology does not yet exist to make "DCS exactly like real life" , or even to make it look as good as a 1080p monitor , in VR . Some of the problems may be mitigated when ED drops the Vulkan and multicore updates , but when that will be is anyone's guess . As it is , expect short-range LOD transitions , some level of aliasing , a fair amount of terrain shadow and other flickering , tree color popping , blurry-ness at a distance , spotting difficulties both AA and AG , and a field of view less than half of "real life" . This after spending $5k or more on just the pc . Having said that , i haven't flown pancake since i got a CV1 several years ago , and am now on my third headset , so i'm certainly not trying to discourage you from VR . But do your homework , and do lots of it ! As to builders , Falcon Northwest has a stellar reputation for custom-built pc's .
  22. It means that beginning Jan 1 , you must have a Facebook account to use an Oculus headset .
  23. Varjo , Arpara are in the hands of reviewers (only) now , more mainstream brands are rumored to be in development .
