  1. Not trying to be argumentative , but my 6800xt does quite well with the Reverb at 60hz . I run native hz almost all the time (and spend a lot of time very low) , and motion smoothing kicks in seamlessly on airports and the supercarrier , all this at quite high DCS settings , including msaa and shadows , and with plenty of headroom , both cpu and gpu (typically run 12-13 msec on both cpu and gpu anywhere very low in the Caucasus) . I could hardly ask for a better VR experience , and i suspect that 4k would do at least as well , though i can't say definitively as i don't have (or want) a 4k monitor .
  2. It is not a DCS mod to be sure , but it certainly is a mod . I have followed this thread quite closely , and need not to be educated as to what it's discussing .
  3. I'm quite happy with my 3d on AMD , but cannot comment on the mod .
  4. You do have a point . The LOD bubble is entirely to close in the interest of better performance .
  5. My 11 year-old grandson , with no prior pc experience , just built his first computer . That's how hard it is . Prebuilts always chintz out on components because power supplies and motherboards are not as "sellable" as video cards and cpu 's , so they save a few bucks there and compromise the build in the process . System integrators , such as Sharpe listed above , allow you to select your own components , which they then assemble . The thing is , it is speccing the components that is the most difficult part of building your own pc , not the assembly . Meaning no disrespect , i'm not sure you are a candidate for DCS VR , as that is not the "plug and play" experience you seem to be seeking . Dcs VR requires something of a commitment to learning pc tweaking , overclocking , etc . And DCS VR is particularly problematic with the "large-scale missions" you mention . So your best bet might be to first decide what monitor resolution and size you wish to run , so we can offer good advice regarding your gpu requirement for a system integrator . 1440p widescreens are popular in DCS , as they are a good compromise between spotting and eye-candy . Sharpe's link will cover the cpu .
  6. If in the old world , try Monstertech deskmounts . If in the new , try Foxx deskmounts .
  7. My car won't start . Any ideas ? That's pretty much what you're asking . No one can help you if you don't supply basic info like specs , settings and preferably , crash logs .
  8. The G2 would be a better choice if you do not plan to use the Q2 in standalone mode . Much more comfortable , better image quality , and you have the option to run in 60hz mode , freeing up 20% performance headroom . The downside is learning wmr and Steam vr , but after initial setup , you'll be fine . I am concerned about the 4gb vram of your gpu . Even at reduced resolution settings , i think that problematic . Even a 1070 , with 8gb vram would prolly work better , with minimal xtra investment after you sell the 980 .
  9. Yep . 100% agree . Adjustable LOD bubble would be a godsend . I too spend a lot of time down low , and the LOD in VR is disconcerting .
  10. No worries i understand the confusion . I elected not to quote to avoid throwing further fuel on the fire .
  11. Yes , thank you , i know where i am . I was not referencing DTC (which i would also like very much to have) or any other feature or module suggestion . I was referencing the "rewrite the entire code or die" debate .
  12. I rather think that ED knows their business better than we do . I also think that our blathering on about what they should or should not do with their business has absolutely no impact on their decisions . So i don't see the point of this particular debate , unless it is to provide an outlet for micro-aggression , which i find no value in reading .
  13. Afaik , the only means of eliminating ghosting is to run at native hz (no reprojection or motion smoothing) this is all-but impossible with the G2 at 90 hz , other than at high altitudes . However , you can run the G2 at 60hz , which not only allows native hz (except for airfields/supercarrier) but very considerable headroom for much higher eye-candy settings . Some find flickering around the view edges unbearable , some say you acclimatise to it . Personally , i never saw it , and run 60 hz exclusively . Setting can be changed in Windows WMR menu . As always in VR , it's a case of picking your poison
  14. I didn't understand your previous post , nor this one . Either the cursor is tied to headtracking , or it isn't per the OP .
  15. I agree with Lace . I find the mouse tied to headtracking very helpful . It makes UFC entries very fast , and is quicker to use when looking at a side console , for example . Otherwise , you would find your switch with the cursor out of (vr) view , and play with the mouse to get it in view , and only then place the cursor on the switch . No thanks !! So if ED chooses to implement the OP's suggestion , i second Lace's suggestion to make it an OPTION !
  16. Prolly more likely to get replies in the virpil section of the "input/output" subforum .
  17. I have never experienced motion sickness in VR , running WMR and steam VR . I personally prefer a clean installation of DCS , so i have no thoughts on OpenXR . I would , however , try it if ED provided native support .
  18. Pixel count . The Pimax is 3840x2160 per eye . The Reverb G2 is 2160x2160 , and it will tax the best-available gpu's to their limits at native resolution and 90/45 fps . Guys with 3090's are resorting to mods to get decent performance from a G2 at 90/45 full resolution , and even then give up eye-candy settings i personally would not . I am having a very good experience with the G2 . However , i run at 60 hz , which works well for me , but some see flickering . Also , Pimax seems to be more interested in constantly introducing new models , rather than addressing quality issues . I have no interest in which headset you choose , but as i said , research carefully .
  19. I would be very careful and research thoroughly the Pimax 8k for DCS .
  20. I run at 60 hz , and maintain it under all circumstances except on airfields and the supercarrier , when it seamlessly switches to 30 with motion smoothing . This allows me the headroom to run quite high eye-candy settings in DCS with no mods (i personally run a clean install of DCS except for Vaicom Pro) .
  21. Seems to be some confusion regarding requirement for developer support ?
  22. I'm running a Reverb G2 nicely with a 6800xt...
