reported Markpoint option "TGP" not showing up when cycling through
84-Simba replied to Moonshine's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi ! Today I tried to do some SEAD on a SA-3 and after the targetting with the HAD I focused my TGP on the SAM site. Point track a launcher but the TGP was not available in the Markpoint menu ; only HUD, FCR and OFly. This is the first time I see this issue. -
Absolutely. I usually set a conservative bingo but I could eventually dump fuel close to home. I don't know if it is possible in the Viper nor if it's implemented. I'll check this out next time. Good information though Thx

Yep

As far as I know now : You can hot rearm/refuel but : - You have to ditch your external tanks or make the ground crew rearm without and add them again ; - You can rearm with dumb and laser bombs but you won't be able to change the code ; - You have to realign completely if you add any GPS guided munitions such as WMCS, JDAMs or JSAWs. (you'll notice that the INU flag is up on the ADI and that the alignment is 0 on the INS Page) Note that everytime I tried, the coordinates and altitude were correct on the INS Page. So you just have to confirm the datas with enter and wait. I usually request ground power and shut the engine down. I find weird that a re-alignment is needed in this case since the plane knows exactly where it is ... And off-course the smart munitions are off at this time. Though I don't know if it is just a DCS behaviour or an actual IRL procedure requirment, maybe something like software or hardware ... or both.

Thank you for detailed answer my friend ! I mark your comment as the solution but I'll restest everything that has been said. Have a noce day

Sorry guys but my OP is not about the alignement procedure per se. If you just switch to NAV normally in the first flight everything looks normal to me. My questions were : - Is the refuel / rearm process demanding an INS re-alignment ? - Is the refuel / rearm process demanding to be cold or can it be done hot ? (in which case, what is the process in DCS) We now know how to deal with fuel tanks but still remain a potential problem with INS. @BIGNEWY @NineLine @Wags Do you have any element to enlighten us ? Again, I'm not debating on whether a process is real or not ... just how it works in DCS. Thank you guys. FIX is the in-flight INS recalibration, right ? Using TGP, FCR, Overfly, etc ...
-
Thank you guys for all the info on the fuel tanks. Regarding the INS alignment (which is my main suspect on the JDAMs mishapp), do you guys know if there is a particular process ? Is there any need to realign ? Hot or cold mandatory ?
-
Thank you for the fuel tanks. For the JDAMs, maybe I wasn't clear enough. The bombs are perfectly accurate on the first flight but after a rearm / refuel they are not anymore. Also, but I maybe wrong, I think they took more time to be fully aligned and ready to be dropped. I made 2 flights back to back on the same training range and did pretty much the exact same process regarding my fence in since I have a particular steerpoint to do it. On the first flight the JDAMs were ready when I arrived on the range. On the second, I had to make my laser-guided bombs runs until the JDAMs were aligned ... and they missed their targets. I had a similar experience with 2xGBU-31 penetrators missing completely a concrete shelf on a second flight while they went dead on target on the first flight.

Hi guys ! Can someone elaborate step by step how to rearm and refuel on a friendly base with the Viper ? Last time I tried it was impossible to get my wing fuel tanks to be refueled and the JDAMs were not landing where they should. I suspect there is a special procedure to get this done. I don't mind if it's not the real hot rearm/refuel process, I just want to know what to do to avoid to have to deslot / reslot in MP.

- Well, if the PCB is designed to fit into the Winwing casing then don't worry about coding the display. It just have to be opened in the middle to allow for a screen to be put behind. Nothing too bad if it is intended to connect to a Leo Bodnar. There are a lot of tutorials to make it work by ourselves. The hardest part is crafting the thing. - That would be great indeed - Bummer for the Apache players I think, but I did not tried that yet.
-
Noice ! Definitely intersted but then I have three major questions : 1- the design of the PCB is blocking the screen sight, doesn't it ? 2- is there any backlighting of the buttons and can it be bound to an axis ? 3- Will there be the extra buttons between the OSB like the Winwings ? Thank you very much I support this. I bought the Orion 1 throttle and bought the Orion 2 because of the improvments of the detents. So, I'd definitely buy shopping for a V2 with new buttons.
-
Damn ... So it would require a complete new PCB with new switches to improve this. I was hoping to solder old cougars buttons onto the Winwings ...

Yep, That kneeboard issue is annoying but not game breaking since you can resize and reposition it to your liking. On the other hand, the control input monitoring (the red window showing your inputs) cannot be moved, if I'm correct. Again, not a game breaker. I strongly backup your idea of integrating a multi-monitor setup tab and tools instead of fiddling with settings externally. It would maybe fix the brightness issue at the same time.

reported earlier Ingame display brightness issue

Hi there ! @BIGNEWY First of all, happy new year and thank you for your work and developpments. With the successful release of the Winwing panels and the Total Controls Apache panels this issue is growing up rapidely in importance. I find a little harsh your answer that ED has its own bug list and making our own wouldn't be helpful. It sounds like the community, your clients, have next to nothing to say in the evolution of your product. Of course, there is the other side under the hood that we cannot see that is dictating its own agenda. But maybe you can look at this issue from a customer perspective, as an exemple : I just spent 660€ for a complete 3 screens + MFD setup and now the night flying is almost impossible. You may know that in simulators, software and hardware are directly related expenses (and quite hard ones) I invested in hardware to make your software experience even more awesome. But right now, it almost went a step backward. So your answer, shortened to ''we do what we want and we are not doing this'' is very good point to not invest in your software any more. As you said it is a problem that has been brought up several years ago now ; while it may have been seen as marginal at first, its importance has ramped up with new hardware options coming to the market just recently. Hornet, Thunder, Viper, Apache, Mudhen, Kaiowa Warrior, Chinook, Hercules, Typhoon ... all these aircrafts demand the extensive use of MFDs. That is becoming more and more as important as HOTAS and you would not cast away any major problems with people not able to use a stick or a throttle, would you ? So ... understood. It is a deep search and a hard work to fix that issue. Of course, I don't expect it to become your top priority task but that is defenitely something that you can seriously discuss at your next brainstorming, don't you think ? Thank you for the answer though. I hope you'll find an easier way to fix this and that you'll have ressources to allocate to that matter. Best regards, Simba -
[HELP] Cerberus North - M15
84-Simba replied to paloncho's topic in F/A-18C Operation Cerberus North Campaign
They do not react very well to the Amraam so I was taking one down with the 120. The second one was trickier but the Aim-9 is all aspect. Either a face-shot was reaching the target or at least it was forcing the Mig to manoeuver, leaving a window open to jump on him. You actually have a very short TTK on this one so you have to be quick and effective. And even then, you have to be very conservative with the fuel to complete the mission. -

Same, every time I tried I had to deal with them myself. Waiting longer did not help and I was tighter in the timing to carry on the rest of the mission. -

Still scratching my head with this one. I cannot get the JSOWs to shack the SA-10 (probably shot down) but I managed to reach it and attack with guns. If you go really low and buster you can approach the side from the valley and mask yourself from the SA-15 behind a little hill on the east side. When you turn left, you are almost immediately above the SA-10 and almost in line to Brrrt both tall antennas. My main concern here is that JSOWs are not the best weapons should you decide to attack at low level/high speed and because of the mission being cut in half, you cannot edit the loadout. That way of doing is good for players that want to skip AAR but it is a bit a problem when you seek immersion or want to adapt your strategy. I'll see what I can do to shack the SA-15 before dropping the JSOWs but that will be tight in timing. -
Owh ok. I did not see it ; only for multiplayer. Thank you

Hi guys ! I'm flying Cerbrerus North and since 2.8 it seems that AG kills are not properly registered. If I shack a ground target, I can see it in the debrief list of event marked as killed and it appears in the logbook as AGKill. But the score stays at 0 and on the debrief page, ''show my victories'' is also at 0. Is something going on bugwise or did the scoring system did change ?

AG kills are not registered ?
84-Simba replied to 84-Simba's topic in F/A-18C Operation Cerberus North Campaign
Same thing in Mission 8. I put the JDAM on the mortar and it is registered in the debriefing list but not counted in the numbers. Odly, I shot down both Migs but the second one after Poddle told me to abort. In fact, my missile was already on its way but it splashed the second Mig after his message and the kill did not count. Strange ... -
Hi ! Today I flown Mission 7 and I had a result of 97 but a score of 0. Though, Newt called Charlie destroyed. And when I checked in the debrief page, I did kill 4 soldiers. In the logbook, I see 4 AG kills. I believe I did saw the very same behaviour in M6 (primary and secondary destroyed) and that was just after 2.8 update. Anyone knows what happened ?
-
Yes I did read your comments. Dropping a JDAM on it is what I had in mind but I first have to make them engage me and they only do when I come in the axis of the column. If I do passes with the village on the side they do not engage or get me when I pull up. I come low and fast in mil power only, when I see the smoke I break hard and pull back to idle. I release flares in preventive and absolutely smash the buttons when I see the smoke. The missile never ever deviate ... I'll retry by putting the village in an angle. Thx

Anyone with an advice to evade that Igla ? I even tried a program to release all my flares 2 by 2 starting in the ingress and still the SAM gets me. I'm confused.
