I'm having this same issue with the IR Mav. I did everything I used to do such as making the Mav DDI the SOI and uncaging it. It doesn't respond to my TDC inputs and I checked my controls to see if anything reset but everything was set correctly. TDC works with my TPod just fine but not the Mav seeker.
Finally got some hits with the Harpoon and definitely noticed the damage model is weak compared to what it probably should be. Only inflicted 40% damage to a tanker. I hit the same type of tanker with a Maverick and did 85 - 90% damage.
The Harpoon has me wondering how complex the SLAM and especially the AGM-84K SLAM-ER will be to get on target.
Regarding hitting well defended ships. Wouldn't a combination of HARMs and Harpoons be better as the AGM-88s can take out the ships' defenses or at the very least, keep them occupied enough for a few of the Harpoons to get through.
Setup a long convoy of cargo ships to do target practice. Fired all Harpoons from about 15k feet and all of them couldn't get to skimming the water before flying over the ships. Not sure if I need to be under 10k to fire them as that's not what I saw in Wags' video.
Looks like the damage model also still WIP. Any ship with a point-defense like Tor, it's better to just drop a GBU-12/16 on it from 30k up. Still, glad to see it now included.
I'll sometimes pack two Sparrows even on the F-15 in combination with AIM-120s and AIM-9s. The larger warhead on the AIM-7 provides more assurance of bringing down bigger aircraft.
I'd rather they work on the core features along with the A2A systems first for the F-16. The Falcon to me was always a fighter first and a striker second. The opposite of the Hornet if you will. I'm sure the Tpod will be implemented alot sooner in the F-16s lifespan than it was in the DCS F/A-18.
The Hornet's lethality definitely jumped with the tpod. I won't consider it a true death machine until we have Paveway III, Harpoon and SLAM-ER.:smilewink:
It's interesting that the Hornet can use not only the AIM-7F but also the Echo in DCS. Granted, the AIM-7E is incredibly fickle when it comes to acquiring a missile lock.
I see the Maverick was functional on the F-16. :smilewink:
I'll still be shocked if any of the guided air-to-ground weaponry is actually implemented at the start of early access.
There are going to be two campaigns correct? One for Caucuses + F-14B and one for the F-14A and the Gulf as I think I recall. Is there also a chance down the road that HB might design a campaign around the eventual Syria map?
Really considering pulling the lever and getting the F-14 once the whole ED miles goes live next month. The state of Jester is something I've been pretty curious about since I don't have anyone to fly with in MP. Is Jester reliable enough in A2A engagements or does he still need alot of improvement? Not too concerned about LANTIRN just yet.
I'm still crossing my fingers that a D model can be done but would gladly take an F-14B(U). Other than the JDAM, it uses the same weapons as the older A and B. Although, we still don't have the AIM-7P in DCS and I hope that changes in the future.
Also.

I think it would be awesome if they got cooperation with the Malaysian or Singaporean military's to get a few actual MiG-29s or Su-30s in as adversarial aircraft.
