  1. OP could have put a poll and at least we could have gotten some stats outta this
  2. Regardless LOAL has always been on the DCS ET, I had something similar happen a year or two back. Popped up over a ridgeline just after a flanker happened to maddog an ET upwards from the other side. Was very confusing till I looked at the tacview :D
  3. No
  4. So I have decided that the Mk.60s and 54C will be banned, and only Mk.47s allowed. I may however increase the limit to 3 from 2, thoughts on this?

    RWR update

Awesome work! Do you guys have any intention of fixing the whole magic RWR issue of it being like perfectly accurate?
  6. As for evading ETs the main issue is SA. If you know its coming just chop throttle and ~5 flares in quick sequence will do the trick. If you keep good SA ETs really arent that dangerous dont see what so many people are complaining about.
  7. The DCS ET had LOAL, IRL I have yet to see any evidence confirming it has. Just from one source: http://eng.ktrv.ru/production/military_production/air-to-air_missiles/r-27t1_-_r-27et1.html "The missile guidance system employs an updated proportional navigation method with the target lock-on accomplished on the suspension under the carrier."
  8. I use both tbh, but I like manual start overall. For the F-16/18 I almost always manual start it, for the Mirage I autostart, simply because I havent bothered to learn it yet. TBH one of the main reasons I dislike the autostart it how inefficient it is. Being an airquake/air combat/BVR guy I really dont care for the full complete startups, its just not what I play for. I can literally start the F-16 in 30 sec manually, the Hornet under a minute (excluding INS alignment). Meanwhile the autostart seems to take forever. Just my 2c
  9. ^this tbh.
  10. You need to learn to exchange speed and altitude fluidly. You need to know when the altitude is helping you, and when its not. You can absolutely enter the fight high over flat terrain you just need to learn how to employ and support ERs while defending AMRAAMs. Find out how close you can get to an AIM-120C carrier and evade his missiles with a crank + gimbal limit dive and start your gameplan there. Also, while against experienced pilots this wont work, vs the AI sneak LA override ET shots from long range and high alt are really effective.
  11. AFAIK terrain textures have no visual effect, but putting it on high does increase RAM usage. See this post: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=202092 Now textures, from what Ive noticed, changes the resolution of cockpit textures (it may change the external textures as well but I usually am not paying attention)
  12. Trees will not stop the radar lock. Now the tree can block the missile physically and cause it to crash, but it will not break the lock. Buildings are probably the same way, I havent tested specifically however. Also, even if they did work its not gonna stop a Viper from 40kft throwing AMRAAMs at you from above. Best bet is to simply stay away from areas where enemy fighters have not been cleared.
  13. The reason is EA. Unfortunately if you want a feature complete Viper, you will have to wait till it is out of EA. And the reason other modules are more complete is that theyve been around far longer to be worked on.
  14. I may end up restricting it, going to do some more testing.
  15. He is referring to the new API, not ED taking control of the AIM-54.
  16. I do intend to keep hosting different editions of this so stay tuned after this one is over :).

  18. What that ED employee did had nothing to do with ED, the manual collecting was what he was doing personally
  19. Also even with the final upgrades dont expect the Flanker to magically start taking on the AMRAAM cariers head to head. 1980s SARH vs 2000s ARH only gets you so far. Especially when your main tactic is the valley sneaking nonsense. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
  20. That means another Viper (maybe hornet as well?) is locking/bugging that guy, an thats his callsign. ED probably means Enfield, so Enfield 4-1
  21. Youre right, I was remembering things off the old 54s, where the A models were much easier to notch than the Cs. I will likely just allow all the 54s
  22. Also does cold/hot option even do anything in DCS? I normally am using 9Xs so it doesnt matter.
  23. Ik for the AIM-54 chizh said they have not taken it ovr yet
  24. 1) the specific test Chizh ran where the AIM-120B and R-77 came out roughly even in terms of Pk was AI vs AI yes, that was the point I was making. 2) The issue Max is referencing is where the missile in its 5 sec radar "memory" will not respond to chaff. Im not sure if max is referring to the autopilot.
  25. Thanks for clarifying, apologies for the misunderstanding on my end. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
