this has to be the most true statement i have seen in these forums. bravo. i have been working in IT since the late eightys and cannot tell you how many time i have heard someone mention newer is better. for the most part, it is probably true. though sometimes it is totally unnecessary. especially video drivers. and cards for that matter. what is the true benefits for getting the newest gear when it comes out? the answer is negligible. there many posers that think having the latest and greatest of anything makes them somehow a better human. in the US this idea is personified by a lifted pickup truck. i see bumper stickers mocking this attitude "member of the 2 inch penis club". if having latest and greatest helps you, who am i to say its wrong. in my case, i have a computer i got is 2021. DCS from that point, and quite honestly on the previous computer, has never had many of the issues other users have had. so.....

did you have game ready drivers installed previously? although i do not know of issues with studio drivers, perhaps game ready will give you better results.

yes. especially if you want help. there is nothing secret in the files except there are several places in the log that exposes your windows user profile name. make a copy of the file and redact those bits. there are many users that have been helped that swore they had no mods. the log file showed they did.

since you posted three (that i know) topics about odd behavior, and none of them had a supplied DCS.log, i would suspect you have mods that could be messing with core files. i suggest disabling all unofficial mods and then running a show repair of DCS. if it continues afterwards, a DCS.log from a session experiencing the issue would be a big help. this topic is really odd.

agreed. if just some of these users complaining in the forums took action to report the false positives, the AV companies will check the submissions further. what most people do not understand is DCS is quite different that "all other games" in that, ED has a base game that is free with umpteen modules and maps for purchase. all of these available for purchase items have to be encrypted to keep them safe from pirates. quite frankly, and an unfortunate fact, there a many thieves in the world taking advantage. here is a scenario to consider. a legitimate software developer has one of their DLLs hacked and the original is replaced with an unsavory version. yes it has happened. these DLLs are also intellectual property. no one wants their blood, sweat, tears efforts stolen. no one. if you cannot trust ED, then you should leave the rest of us (and ED), that do, alone. i personally do trust them and will continue.

home users, enterprise users, and developers (hint hint ED) can submit files for analysis. afterwards, MS will give the files a check and then mark good files for exclusions. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/filesubmission give it a try and make the world a better place. the rest of us will watch.

nearly every patch that comes out, there is a new DLL being blocked. and then the discussion drags on that ED needs to fix. AV does not work that way. the user that gets the error must report these blocks as false positives. wouldn't be inane for a developer to add their own exclusions? these DLLs are encrypted and usually cannot be scanned. the AV software errs on the side of caution. it is more effective to allow folders than specific files. you will be chasing the pink elephant. there are many DCS users that exclude these folders and world has not yet ended.

fair enough. according to the last log you posted, neither of these statements are correct. the idea is to post the log, make the suggested changes, then if no change in the crash, post the new log.
