category "sensors" in controls setup, as always!

don't forget they just introduced a new IR visibility system! We will see a lot of changes in the future

Is it only me, or does it feel like the hype gets even stronger after release?? I feel like back in the days of Janes's Longbow 1/2 flying single mission hot potato or hornet's nest. Thank you ED for keeping it up all these years. It was and still is a pleasure to see the community grow and get blasted off my flight seat with modules like that!

reported earlier Hellfire not catching laser.
Niehorst replied to MrSniff's topic in Bugs and Problems
Had the same trouble yesterday. Multiplayer, but was alone in my Apache. First Hellfires worked just fine. After some time I could only get the solid SMALL box. Missiles were not guided. Hope that get fixed soon. Troops on the ground were relying on those precise Hellfire shots! -
Thanky you Newy, I really do..! I love my whole hangar, but with the 64 you guys pushed so much further than I could ever expect. A true army aviation comrade! Would share the Apache's office anytime with you, Sir. Exactly what I was looking for, THX!

Hi mate. THX! Didn't know I could map buttons. Have a Warthog stick, VPC collective, TM TPR's and a blackhog botton box installed... ah, not to forget the additional Warthog Throttle (Engines lever) Still looking for a M4 carbine -> H&K MR762 holder adapter. Thought those few buttons simply look cool! (VR pilot here) No offence! I have love for everybody involved in DCS!

A big THANK YOU to the Apache SME community here

We really need some female Apache pilots in here! I still see a chance to make my wife the most feared CP/G in the DCS World. -
It can't be stressed enough: You want to have a long extension on you cyclic. If you're doing without any, forget it! Think about it: The flight model wants to be as realistic as possible. The real thing does not have a F-16 like grip without any extension. Curves will help, but it will never give you the precise control over the aircraft. (Over compensation leading to oscillations especially in pitch are the typical problem) Pedals that don't need to be trimmed (using the TPR's + damper mod without springs) help A LOT! By know the Apache does exactly what I want. Hovering and precise landings are an absolute joy to do If you struggle to refuel your Hornet or Tomcat in the air, or catch the wire you want, an extension will do the job too. Don't blame me for your later alcoholism. You'll be hanging out at the bar the whole day!!! For Jets I would reccommend 10 -20cm (depending on the aircraft) - You wont't need a curve anymore -> absolute linear control in pitch and roll! In Helos I use about 32cm (15 straight + VPC curved extension) Still experimenting with curves. Startet with 20, now at 15. Think I can go down to 10. You should always trim a lot for a smooth flight. But with a setup like that you don't have to trim every cyclic change and it is still smooth. To hold the stick in the exact position needs much less force and is so much more precise. Took me years of flying since LOMAC to realize this! It is absolutely amazing to throw the Apache through the street canyons of Dubai! You can take a crossing in fast flight, NOE, I mean at lantern post level, in the very last second! -...And you can't believe you made it like a Boss!
-
I know what you mean, but it will get easier very fast! Since release I could not keep my hands of that beauty and got better in controlling flight and hovering and click cockpit buttons. I will check out to get betty not talk so much, despite the fact that I really like her voice. "Missile! Missile!" sounds not too dangerous from her mouth, "SA-8 tracking!" - No problem at all! Let's sit behind that treeline for a bit. Yesterday I was surprised by some armoured vehicles on a road between some trees during a rocket attack on an artillery position. I managed to get some 30mm on them while evading but took some hits and lost engine #2. Her warnings kept me calm and I made it back to the FARP.

As the title says: Is there a way to have the IHADSS not in front of your eye when entering the cockpit? Some lua file value from 1 -> none or something? In good conditions and when not in combat, I enjoy flying without it. When you want to show a mate this awesome flight experience (especially in VR) it would be nice to be able to increase the "flash factor" more and more, if you know what I mean?!?

I messed around with the good old Georgian Hammer (CA) campaign that was made for the Warthog/Combined Arms. During the first fam flight I observed enemy frontline troops. Second mission was CAS for the advance of element Razor and Elm. Looked amazing, seeing those other assets in action over the battlefield through the TADS. Enemy AAA and MANPADS revealed their position and regret it soon afterwards. Most of us already know that it's really worth it to dig into the ME a little to modify existing missions and especially campaigns. But it won't be long until someone loads up a full converted APACHE Georgian Hammer...

Check, but I think it's still a workaround because of the following fact: One crew member observes the near surrounding (normally the pilot) with the IHADDS The CP/G uses the TADS (on TEDAC display or IHADDS). So the CP/G can quickly throw the TADS on the pilots PHS by selecting it as ACQ. So we are trying to do a task designed for two crew member as one crew member, by using the IHADDS, let the TADS follow, but not be visible. Perhaps we need Casmo here to get it right finally!

These "workarounds" show the missunderstanding of "sight" and "acquisition source" on TEDAC RIGHT HANDGRIP you got the SIGHT SELECTOR switch. It tells the aircraft what "sight" you want to use to look at something. (See my profile picture: I could get the aimpoint off that rifle and use the iron sight) Switch it to HMD and you wont see the TADS overlay in the IHADSS. If you use the PLT NVS, it switches to the "night navigation" IHADS symbology, the pilot uses to navigate NOE in darkness. When sight is set to TADS and your ACQ is set to GHS, you tell the apache that you want to see the TADS, but your HEAD will give the direction where to look. Only works after pressing the slave button. It always gets the TADS to the selected ACQ. When the TADS is not slaved to your HEAD, but sight TADS is selected, you see the overlay, but can move the TADS with the "thumb force controller" (TADS slew) on the right handgrip, as you would do using the TEDAC display in the middle. Having the TADS (FLIR or DTV) on your IHADSS in daytime is like having a FLIR telescope on your right eye what would not shrink your field of view. It's is absolutely incredible what this machine is capable off and it is so freaky fu***ng cool we finally got it! Sounds a little to wise? In fact I had the same question yesterday. While messing around with it, I think I finally understood this army "sight and acquisition source" thing. EDIT: just read the first post again. If you want to tune the picture, you use the same controls as you do using the TEDAC display. Selecting sight "TADS" but tune it down completely simply does not make sense, if you think about it. You tell the aircraft you want to see and aim with the TADS but make it invisible! Like trying to aim that rifle without any sight on it!

I think the PNVS does 120°/sec. The TADS does half of that, when I'm right. If you get the feeling it gets more "laggy", check your NVS selector switch. Perhaps you used the TADS as PNVS

I thin I know what he means... Editig the channel presets in ME doesn't seem to change anything in cockpit. The preset frequencies are always the same.

What I can tell so far, is that I'm quiet surprised about the apache's rockets. They hit quiet well! (both aiming methods) And for my absolute surprise, I already managed to damage and kill something that got more armour than a fuel truck. I think the elevating weapon pylons help a lot! I love to see the impact of such a rocket artillery barage through the TADS.

As the AGM-114 is able to fire in LOAL mode, there is no need to fire the laser the entire flight time of the missile.

Rotor RPM - High! It gets less I hear that message, but it still occurs. You always get that engines overlay over your FLIR picture and have to manually make it disappear. Is there a way to prevent the machine from overlaying this information when reaching a "Rotor RPM High" state? It really disturbs me during my hover attacks

reported earlier 30mm machine gun didn't recoil

yesterday, I experienced a strange issue: During a hover, I messed around with the front seat for the first time. Everything's fine so far. As I tried to aim the gun with the CP/G's HMD, I realized that the gun aimed WAAAAY to low. Was wondering where the bullets are going, switched to exterior and saw the gun shooting into the ground, while aiming on a target about 800m - 1km away. Auto Range did nothing. Increasing the manual range got the barrel up, more and more. Even on 5000m the gun aimed way to low, not to say it was just not pointing at the target. It felt like the manual range was set to 500m or even less and any change would not affect the barrel elevation...

Do you use an extension on your cyclic stick? That's "the touch" you're missing! I'm using about 30cm. Stickbase ist almost on the ground. Spring tension set to a minimum. Same thing as with the gazelle. If you have the right controller setup, they do exactly what you want!

I think about getting a gamepad to simulate the TEDAC grips in VR. What do you guys think about this?

A steering wheel in a car is "as nice to have" as some pedals in a chopper. You can fly with a thrust lever. Since some time I own the VPC Rotor collective. I don't want to miss it anymore.
