It was just an estimate... But they did hint it might be around late August. They did make no promises though, so it depends on how well they iron out the bugs and so on..

Nice find!:D Looks like he wasn't following the SOP procedure...or since its a long runway, decided to go easy on the gears. That was a smooth landing from the pilot! The spoilers open still with the nose pointed high up. SB deployed as well. Flaps fully down...ext tanks too I wonder which version of F-14 was that...?
-
So, if its not a Mig 29...then what do you think? Any guesses that is really mind blowing? I hope its not a turboprop or WW2 stuff...:noexpression: That would not be mind blowing much. Maybe Apache? They did hint its not F-111 nor the Tornado. They also said they hope Tornado is taken up by someone other 3rd party.
-
:D You have no choice on the matter....all we can do is wait...
-
Good news! Slow and stead is better. We can wait.

The nose wheels also wobble erratically side to side on the ongoing landing run around 60 kts.
-
I think we can expect the development to start around 2023. I mean there is no confirmation on if they are going to do it. They got plans...but thats just it for now. Its a pity we can only have Redforce jets of late 80s around. They are certainly no match against the Blueforce unless we manage to merge.

Both versions of A? So, whats the difference between US A model and the Iranian?
-
They never stood a chance against opponents having AWACS and other C4ISTAR assets and network tech advantage. So there are somethings...even skill won't do much. The Serbs had only Ground radar to depend on and via radio reports... Much of the F-15 exemplary record is all thanks to having AWACS helping them.
-
Well, they did hope Tornado would or could be taken up by some OTHER 3rd party developers. So whatever surprise they are announcing remains anyone's guess.... Did they say, this year?
-
I think most of Mig 29s bad rep is that it was used by the opposing force or axis force ( whatever we call them these days). The thing is...their opponents have always had intel advantage like AWACS. The Mig 29 users never had AWACS advantage or C4ISTAR assets much. The wars before...even allies had so much casualties and losses. Today, technology on intel gap is intense. The allies have yet to face Migs aided by AWACS at the very least...

Damn...they are getting our hopes up :D They did hint a lot...and here is me hoping that we get two Phantoms. One for AF and the other being Naval. Then again, it was originally designed by Navy. Hoping IF WE get Naval, that its the J or N version.

So as you say...the surface friction is an ED issue. But they have hinted its not going to be corrected coz its too much work and not on their priority plans. And you did say, if any ADJUSTMENTS are to be made by Heatblur, the end result will be too much or too little friction, and that shows the adjustments CAN be made in accordance with the Surface friction issue that remains doubtful on whether it will be ever corrected or not. Correct me if I am wrong on this... Also, there are some modules that do have different levels of adjustments. The F-18 as told by ED still has further improvements on FM to be made or fine tune it. Yes, this goes for the Mig 21 from other 3rd party developers that has suspensions issues and front tire wobble up and down and mid speeds at taxi ways ( wobble sideways) and "gummy" rear tires. The FC3 Mig 29 shows VERY little friction effect. So much that even if your main gears make contact with the pavement, you wont "feel" it or the indication is not that noticeable like other modules.

Why are we discussing this...? Oh,that... Maybe the flight modeling or the Landing characteristics/behaviour could be adjusted in accordance with the DCS modeled high friction surfaces. Will the surfaces be adjusted in future? coz I don't see they'll be doing that. Of all the planes that is difficult to aerobrake for ME is the F-18 Hornet legacy with FULL FLAPS, For the Mig 21 (Its doable, but out of 10, I'd only get 2 landing to aerobrake. And before you all say F-18 is not supposed to aerobrake, I do see Finnish pilots doing it, I did post a vid in this thread. They do it with load too. The F-14 with full flaps, spoiler and SB deployed...Its pretty hard. You can hold the aerobraking WITHOUT the spoiler for sometime (Does the spoiler activate only with engine idled?) The only exception is the FC3 Mig 29. You cant even feel much, if the tires made contact with the surface when landing, feels floaty, aerobraking there seems to have no effect on speed bleed. Its mandatory to deploy Brake chute.

Yes, he did hint and I am hoping it was coz of that it was being delayed... I'd love to see the Naval version come along with it and with that it will be very marketable module. I'd be wishing to see the F-4J being developed or whichever is easier that would go with their version of F-4E.

ED did say the FM did need some refining and as it is now some of the characteristics are not accurate. For eg: There are also NATOPS recommending NOT to aerobrake the Legacy Hornet as in, NOT recommended. But we see, LAND based air forces for those nations that use them for their Air force and not the Navy. We see them aerobraking, I do believe I've posted a vid here in this thread showing Finnish pilots Legacy Hornets doing just that. In DCS its impossible to aerobrake with Full flaps on the legacy hornet. Also, stopping the hornet is also very tough, its got very low brake power and sometimes, even with SB deployed plus stick full aft, the plane does not seem to be slowing much.
-
Yes, that is the RECOMMENDED Method. (SOME) of those landings look rough, like slamdunk. I get the landing gear is tough for carrier ops, but...I mean, the runway is long and its not the carrier, so could have given those landing gear some love. That kinda landing is easy...:smilewink: There are also NATOPS recommending NOT to aerobrake the Legacy Hornet as in, NOT recommended. So if the Runway is long, I do believe its good to go easy on the landing gear, and that is why Iranians "grease" land them, and also the Fins doing those on their Hornets.

Passive aggressive...? I do apologize if I had sounded aggressive. I just wanted to see if it was me that's not getting right and the problem was on my end. The only difference I see here compared to the video I posted of the Iranians doing it is that they have the spoilers deployed when the rear mains touch itself and they have the nose up (especially the first aircraft). But in your landing case, I see a delay of approx of 2 seconds around when YOUR spoilers get deployed and that's only seen after your NOSE GEAR touches the ground. With the spoilers off, you can hold the nose up like the Iranians did. I suppose its only minute differences, or there are some aerodynamic plus weight difference between F-14A and the B version. Yes, I do realize the A uses a different engine. Perhaps, some tweaking could be done... I appreciate your test attempt and posting of that video.:D

Which F-104 versions would we all like to see?

So...it was challenging to fly... There are other records it did set, other than crashes... -

Why even post a reply at all...? All you had to do was ignore... -

Yes ED did hint of the interest in F-104 during the interview. They did note the fame of F-104...that exotic design and the records it achieved... -
Its landing behaviour is odd for now....for land bases Its very easy to aerobrake on the Hornet with HALF flaps and keep the nose up. But with full flaps, its almost impossible. But, I see in airshows that they do aerobrake the landing with full flaps, especially those Finnish and Canadian pilots doing it in some airshows. Skip to 4:35
