  1. News update, Feb 26th 2023!! Recruiting is currently open for the F-16C, F-15E, AV-8B, and AH-64D. We are not recruiting for the F/A-18C, F-14B, A-10C, or LotATC at this time.
  2. I believe Jester is a bit bugged. He IDs NATO aircraft as friendly even if they are enemy coalition. He IFFs them properly, and so does the AWACS, so just ignore those "we locked a friendly" call outs, and reference the HAFU symbology.
  3. Are you playing an old build? It got changed somewhere between 6 months to 1 year ago, I believe. The AWG-9's PDSTT is only notched by the zero doppler filter now, not the MLC filter. (PD search modes can still be notched both ways though). When I asked HB why the 54, which has a PD radar, can be notched by perpendicular aspects but the AWG's PDSTT can't be, I was told it's because HB controls one while ED controls the other. So we can chalk the 54's behavior to notching targets up to either 1. API limitation, or 2. ED game-balancing the Phoenix. Combine that with the evasive pull up maneuver I reported in ED's forum, and the Phoenix has a major problem aside from its nerfed overhauled kinetics. PS. Thank you for the server recommend.
  4. It's a double edged sword. Human opponents can't detect the missile from as far away, but they can anticipate it and preemptively defend it earlier. And you don't need AI-perfect notching to break the AIM-54's active lock and send it into its evasive pull up maneuver. Human pilots can do it easily too of their RWR is good. The AIM-54 is not easily defeated because the AI is too smart, it's easily defeated because of the current guidance limitations. It's a PDSTT lock that can be notched , (and once it's notched even once it's toast), while the AWG-9 is a PDSTT that can't be. It's illogical, but an unfortunate limitation apparently. New API can't come soon enough! By the way, what servers do you recommend? Seems like everything these days is either air Quake, or cold war (Fox-1 only), or PVE.
  5. I seem to recall a recent patch note about fixing some missing reflectivity textures in the cockpit. I thought it was the VDI and HSD, but maybe it was the HUD too? I just went back through the last few patch notes, but I couldn't find it. Another reason why people might be noticing it more lately is the extra performance hit that came with 2.8, and many people downgrading their settings to maintain FPS. I just don't see how flat shadows would work in the pit. Would it be like a 2D gray shadow cutout half way between the virtual pilot's head and the consoles? What would happen if you used your head tracker to lean forward? Would your head go through the shadow? Would the shadow follow your head position forward and start clipping through the front consoles? How would it work with the seat and floor? Would it slice/clip down through them vertically? I don't ever recall seeing flat cockpit shadows in any version of DCS, or even in any youtube video.i don't think it was ever a thing, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong if someone has a video link.
  6. Just wondering how everyone expects flat shadows to manifest over all the different surfaces of the cockpit. I can't even begin to visualize how it would work.
  7. Interesting. This has been happening to my Winwing throttle lately. I upgraded my PC recently, so I assumed it was an issue with a USB port or my USB HUB, but now you've got me wondering. Rescanning devices works for me as well.
  8. Just checking in to see if any progress has been made. Are we still on track for the beginning of 2023?
  9. Are you flying with shadows off? I don't see any shadows in the picture, and your seat and head can't block the sun if shadows are disabled. That might be the issue.
  10. Finally a picture. I've never seen it that bad. Screen cap your graphics settings?
  11. I wouldn't mind the 6 button presses to center the NAVGRID if Jester was smart enough to keep it centered. (And to re-center it after you've come back to it from an aircraft stabilized mode). Basically he should keep centering it until you ask him to do otherwise. The center Navgrid function is probably the #1 reason why I switched to using VAICOM, becsuse i do it probably 20+ times every flight. The hilarious and ironic thing is the entire Navgrid category in Vaicom is borked by default, so you have to fix it on the user side. It's a pain in the butt, but it's worth it in the end. But now with the new pure scripts IC option, many servers (like Hoggit) don't allow it. Hopefully Jester 2.0 is better, smarter, and allows an easier way to interact with voice commands.
  12. You don't like making 6 button presses to ask Jester to do it? /s

  15. Jester has always made odd choices about what he chooses to hook. In fact, I'm not convinced it's Jester and is instead some other underlying bug with the AWG, because even when I fly as a human RIO there are times where my TID becomes possessed and hooks/unhooks random things. I think someone made a bug report about it too. That being said, the TID range has always functioned successfully for me at prioritizing only targets within the fishbowl. TWSA won't factor in trackfiles outside the range into its automated azimuth/elevation. And it won't assign any tracks outside the fishbowl to the Phownix shooting order either. It's a good habit to always shorten up the TID range to the minimum you need to engage whatever targets you're committing on. Not only for the reasons above, but also as a courtesy to the driver who has to look over his stick to see the repeater. I think it was Mooch who said he always tries to keep everything important in the upper 1/3 of the TID.
  16. After struggling with the Jester interface for a couple years now, I want a cursor for A2A mode. With a human RIO I can tell them verbally to hook a contact to my 2 o'clock 40 miles out, or to hook the hostile contact behind me in my ground stabilized mode. Without a human RIO I'm at the mercy of Jester to hook the right contact, and it's pure luck of the draw, and he never hooks anything useful in ground stabilized. They gave us a way to slew the LANTIRN in A2G mode as a substitute for being able to tell a human RIO to slew left/right etc, (although it's tied to using a head tracker for some strange reason, they should just allow us to ditch the "put the dot in the circle" method and let us map it to an axis), and they gave us q-eyeballs to simulate being able to tell a human rio to move the LANTIRN to something we see outside the cockpit. My wish is to have a similar substitute for A2A mode. Not direct control of the half action TID cursor itself, but some kind of red dot or something I can slew as a substitute for being able to verbally direct a human RIO. Also, they should make every Jester function able to be mapped so we can access via Voice Attack without needing Vaicom/AIRIO which is now blocked by pure script integrity check settings. I'm hoping for major improvements in Jester 2.0.
  17. Press the PrtScn key on your keyboard. The images will be saved in your saved games / screenshots folder. Attach a few of them here so we can see what you're seeing.
  18. Do you use any of those keys for anything in the driver controls? I've noticed there is some kind of driver/RIO overlap in the controls that is also affecting me only in multiplayer, but it's relating to my Winwing not my keyboard. I can dispense flares, lower the hook, toggle the parking brake, and many other things from the RIO seat using the same controls I would normally use if I was driving, and it's only in multiplayer that it happens.
  19. I had no idea that opened.
  20. Sorry about that. The link should be fixed now.
  21. Hey, sure thing. Check out the discord: https://discord.gg/51stvfw The application is in the pinned messages in the #general-discussion
  22. Recruiting for the AV-8B has re-opened! Join the discord today at: https://discord.gg/51stvfw Recruiting is open for F-15E, LotATC, and AV-8B. F/A-18C, F-16C, F-14B, AH-64, and A-10C II are temporarily closed, but may re-open soon, so join the discord to enquire about getting on a waitlist.
  23. Interesting, I've never noticed this before or heard it mentioned when I ran BVR sets against an opponent. I've noticed the AI F-14B's jammer is a constant noise jammer, even in the most recent patch. Is this a known limitation of DCS?
  24. We noticed some interesting behavior with the F-14 jammer tonight. I don't recall it behaving this way in the past. New bug?
