cannot reproduce and missing track file F-18 Speed issue.
Swift. replied to 6bucks's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Sounds like you have game mode on, check in the settings and deselect the options such as game avionics and/or game flight mode or something like that. -
It sounds like you might have a double binding on the rudders somewhere. Have a check across the rudder axis binding, all the way to make sure theres no duplicates.
-
To avoid confusion, when the TDC is assigned to the HUD/JHMCS, you wont see a diamond. You will see a dot in the centre of the VV and a dot, with dashed lines radially expressed from the centre dot, in the JHMCS
-
'Useful function' might be stretching it a little. But yeah, if ED find they have a few hours spare then go for it I guess.
-
To be really pedantic, long actions are a thing in hornet too
-
By Markpoint here I assume you mean designation. Simply assign the TDC to the HUD, aim at the target, depress the TDC and voila. Everything is slaved to that point. If by Markpoint you mean markpoint, then go to the HSI, cycle the waypoints between 59 and 0 to find the markpoints. Once you have the desired one selected, press WPDSG and it will create a designation on the selected markpoint.
-
You mean the grid zone designator? Like 11S XX 000 000? You'd have to pan the grid square grid over to the new GZD, no idea why you'd want to do that unless you want to put a waypoint in on a different continent. The grid square selection page will centre over your own position or the selected REF WP. So it will pretty much always been the correct GZD.

Lot 20 was produced in 1999. Our hornet does have the EPE engines. For avionics lot isn't as important as OFP, ours is a mix of a little of everything. Its got some ancient stuff from 1990 aswell as some stuff from 2010s.

Its almost like a Direct reattack banzai from Skate. It's sound, dont be discouraged. -

Firing beyond what the jet tells you is RMax is absolutely not an issue. Its a commonplace occurrence and will be until ED update the DLZ for the new amraam kinematics. OP is spot on, those missiles didn't appear to be tracking despite a sustained STT and no LOST indication (outside of the initial 2 second LOST flash that happens at launch, another bug). I've seen similar things happen myself, but often accompanied by a LOST indication. I wonder whether the bug isnt the missiles failing to track, but the HUD failing to indicate a LOST missile? As a side note, no idea what you guys are digging into OPs mechanics about. I like what I'm seeing, nice aggression into the crank. Shooting when you did is fine. LOST after launch is a bug that afaik is triggered by firing beyond what the outdated DLZ say is good. Its not preclusive to missile tracking, as I've seen both outcomes with a LOST cue. -
How to cruise efficiently in the F18 with a full combat loadout?
Swift. replied to Tree_Beard's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
So for optimal altitude and speeds, check the FPAS page: What I'm looking forward to with the FM reworks is the ability to use the real world technique of flying at 4.2AOA for max range and 5.6AOA for max endurance. -
JSOW B never went to production, it effectively never existed. JSOW C's IIR seeker is effectively useless in DCS, firstly because we have no way to program is without a mission planner and secondly because DCS is perfect, the weapon will never miss unless there is one of those odd bugs again.

Searching for proof of underperforming AN/APG-73 radar
Swift. replied to GumidekCZ's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Tracks fading is more a function of poor track logic in DCS rather than an underperforming radar. If you are only getting occasional returns, keep in mind your radar set frame time. If you have something like 4 bar, 140 azimuth, Interleaved. You could be looking at something like 30 seconds between detections. -
Searching for proof of underperforming AN/APG-73 radar
Swift. replied to GumidekCZ's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Im curious what the actual root cause of the problem is here. Because I imagine you feel like 'hornets radar isnt powerful enough', but what you should be saying is 'hornet cant target aircraft far enough away'. The second problem has a simple solution: MSI. -
reported earlier AN/APG-73 Radar loosing contacts very frequently
Swift. replied to GumidekCZ's topic in Bugs and Problems
You need to increase the age out time. There is an inaccuracy in DCS right now where tracks go into MEM based on brick age out rather than proper MEM logic, but it can easily be worked around by simply increasing the time. Press DATA on the ATTK page, then in the top right of the screen there will be a number 2/4/8/16/32, representing the age out time. Set this to something higher until you get a stable track. -
See this post for the correct scales per zoom level. The reason some are missing is because that scale of chart is missing from the game. For example syria has a 1:500k so it shows, but PG doesnt so it doesnt show.
-
I would say rather than there are weapon wide features missing, not specific to AUTO. For example QTY release is still guffed, the IZLAR still doesnt actually adjust for terminal settings. Still missing launch points and the accompanying TOT features that brings with it. Still dont have PPIZLAR. So yes I agree JDAM is still WIP, but I disagree that AUTO mode is the weak point.

Should be available in, does not mean exclusive to
-
Sounds like you are thinking of FD
-
What special cues are you expecting in the HUD? When you press auto/loft you get the AUTO symbology in the HUD just fine, and it releases when the release cue passes through the VV just like it should. As for the loft initiation cue, thats shown by the appearance of the release cue. When it appears pull back and you will achieve correct loft at release. Whether or not thats working properly now or if its bugged is not something I concern with because lofting a JDAM is silly. The AP flies the most optimum path for the bomb, if it needed to loft it would loft itself.

Slew sensibility of A/G designation on hud and hmd
Swift. replied to gregfp66's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
This isn't really what the problem is here. In Hornet the HUD designation Slew is much much much faster than anything else in the jet. So if you reduce the overall TDC authority you might get a controllable HUD slew, but will get an agonisingly slow radar/SA cursor and TPOD slew. -
Lower wheel friction so that hornet can also air brake
Swift. replied to Dr. Anti-Vehicle's topic in Wish List
I believe so, its the most problematic part of the reverse ground effect bug that ED have acknowledged a while ago. I'm assuming itll be fixed in the upcoming FM corrections. -
So whats happening? Are you creating the designation and pressing the MK button on the HSI? Does the MK button go up a value, eg MK1 > MK2? Have you cycled through the waypoints to find the M1-9 points?

Lower wheel friction so that hornet can also air brake
Swift. replied to Dr. Anti-Vehicle's topic in Wish List
Firstly, shouldnt really be doing that in hornet. You risk hitting the stabs on the deck. Secondly, this is an issue with reverse ground effect under full flaps, not a wheel friction thing. You wont see it happening under half flap
