  1. A good idea indeed, many people with freetrack don't use a webcam (but use wii remote or eyetoy instead) so it was a wise decision.
  2. I'm using a Microsoft Lifecam VX-1000, it was cheap and gives a solid framerate between 25-30. I also did not need to modify it other than taping some developed (exposed) negative photographic film in front of the lens. It works very well. I have a gallery of my Free-Track cap here: http://forums.eagle.ru/album.php?albumid=315
  3. Works for me too! Easy to install and no configuration issues at all. Great job! Will you make the code available? Thanks!
  4. Wonderful! It works perfectly, I had no issues at all installing or using it. I saw no reason to change from your default values in the .prefs-file either, everything works very well and was very simple to use. Thank you!
  5. Searching the forums (or google) you'd find something called TrackIRFixer. That'll do the trick for Black Shark and FC2 until (if they ever) they are released as 64 bit applications. http://naturalpointofview.blogspot.com/p/trackirfixer.html DCS A-10C in 64bit will NOT work with FreeTrack even with TrackIRFixer because the freetrack software is unable to "attach to" a 64 bit process.
  6. There is AFAIK (As Far As I Know) no way to do you what you request I'm afraid. You want to zoom only the cockpit but not the outside world and this is not possible in the manner you describe you want it to. You can IIRC (If I Recall Correctly) move you head position, even without FreeTrack/TrackIR/FaceTrackNoIR, by holding down the middle mouse and moving it to a position of preference.
  7. Windows 7 x64, but still install the 32bit binaries to be able to use FreeTrack
  8. Would you mind keeping the first post updated with information about the latest version together with a link to the program? That would be lovely!
  9. I guess it serves a similar purpose to the supposedly "secret" lunch boxes in the Swedish Gripens :). Though the cord in the A-10C is multi-function as opposed to the lunch boxes:lol:. (Reported recently in NyTeknik: http://www.nyteknik.se/nyheter/fordon_motor/flygplan/article3147413.ece)
  10. Indeed it is msalama, but still - a working outside air temperature gauge would sure be handy sometimes :)
  11. I love flying online, no way better to improve flying skills and to have fun. I seldom play on public servers though, usually stick with friends.
  12. There was a guy here in the forums that had a triple-head setup with removed plastic frames. Can't seem to find it right now though...
  13. There is already a thread about FaceTrackNOIR http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=56837 It's usable but not as good as FreeTrack IMO.
  14. I have essentially the exact same system and recently had to buy a new card since my old 8800GTS burnt out. I bought a GTX470 to replace it and to be honest, it did not make a big difference in Warthog for me. Still, I could increase my FSAA a notch or two but the game is still slow in the same situtations (slow flying over towns with AI etc).
  15. It should be possible, if I'm not mistaken, to make bands of the rotary axis so that you can have one band in the center position that does nothing. Bad ascii: <----------------|--------------|-------------> gate size - (nothing) gate size + Then you can center the rotary so that it stops sending the command.
  16. Your PC is a bit on the low-end to run A-10C I'd say. But still, as you already figured out it works anyway :) The main thing you should upgrade is the processor, or at least consider overclocking it. In Black Shark the graphics card you have should be more than enough but I'm uncertain about whether it is the perfect match for A-10C, of course it never hurts to have a too powerful GPU ;). For faster loading times i think your best bet is an SSD or something along those lines. It is not stated in your post, but is your XP 64bit so that you can make use of all 4GB of RAM? Not that it'll make a big difference anyway but worth considering. Also, there were many mentions in Black Shark where moving up to Windows 7 gave significant improvements to overall game performance.
  17. I'm on the following and it runs just fine for me. Up until two weeks ago I had just an old 8800GTS 640MB from 3+ years ago. Unfortunately it burnt out and I had to replace it, but still, the graphics card isn't the bottleneck here anyway... Unfortunately I didn't get to test it in DCS:W since it gave up two days before the beta release. It worked just wonderful in Black Shark and probably would have done the same here (maybe a little less because of all the fancy graphics stuff, but still good enough I'm sure). Core2Duo E6750 @ 3.2 Ghz (2.67 Ghz stock) 4GB DDR2 RAM Geforce GTX470 Windows 7 Professional 64bit
  18. Yep I had it a couple of weeks ago but didn't matter which drivers I used, turned out it was actually a cooling fin that had gotten loose on one of the memory units and it had thus overheated badly and gotten damaged.
  19. This is in no way intended to be rude or disheartening or anything but I think that $400 USD is a tad to little to get a gaming rig that runs these games well. If I were you I'd save up until I had at least twice that amount of money before even thinking about buying a gaming computer. But if you're lucky you might find something used for $400-550 that is in the range of being able to play these games. The main limiting factor (in these games) seems to be CPU-power, so don't go shy on that one, get at least a lower-range Core i5 or something similar from AMD (don't know what models sorry). The next big thing is graphics card, but you already got some good suggestions there I think. Considering that RAM is as cheap as it is and not the biggest factor in gameplay you'll be fine with whatever you can get a hold of (preferably minimum 4GB+ DDR2), and if you're really lucky and plan wisely you might be able to get a motherboard that can fit your current RAM sticks. I'm not sure about the prices in the states but over here (Sweden) these bare necessity components will run you (buying new, retail goods I might add) at least $500+ USD, if we assume you'll keep your old HDD, computer case, power supply and peripherals. Read some reviews, ask around, look through the internet and you'll hopefully find something :book: And as a last note from me, never ever consider buying a gaming computer with an integrated graphics card. A computer sold with an integrated graphics card is in my opinion the hallmark of a computer that's always going to be just-below what you want from it, in any regard. It's a great indicator of a computer vendor that includes the crappiest hardware in packages to make the greatest amount of money from uninformed customers that look at the specs and it says HD and they go "whooow, H--D--!". I'm not saying you are like this, just making an example. I wish you the best of luck in finding your good rig for DCS!
  20. But there is, in the dedicated Screenshots section http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=58337
  21. I case you need another push I also agree on the X52 Pro :D
  22. Fantastisk! (yes that's swedish for fantastic!) Itchy clicking fingers can't wait to press "buy" :D
