  1. The model looks great! I love to be able to turn off that horrible bloom-effect. :) Implementing choice is catering for everyone
  2. Centering the head tracking is done through the head-tracking software. In the latest version (20100910) of FaceTrackNoIR you can set this to any key of your liking through the interface (Options>Keybinds).
  3. Noticed this article in technology newspaper Ny Teknik in Sweden this morning. http://www.nyteknik.se/nyheter/fordon_motor/flygplan/article2467546.ece Short summary: SAAB J35 Draken for sale in California. Initial price was $499 000 USD, now lowered to $175 000 USD becase there were no interested buyers with rising fuel prices. Unlikely to find a buyer in Sweden since it is currently in US and needs new permits to fly here. It was renovated to near mint-condition 10 years ago by Verlyn Wolfe and has been flown in airshows over there: It underwent inspection in 2005 and is ready to fly. Uses about 400 liters of fuel per minute at full throttle [with afterburner I assume]. It is a mach 2.0 capable airplane and pilots needs jet- and supersonic licences to fly it. One of the picture captions states that it climbs to 10'000 meters in one minute with full afterburner. Another picture caption states it has had both 30mm cannons removed and mounting points and weapons systems removed. Edit: There was a link to the exact specifications from Wolfe Aviation http://www.nyteknik.se/nyheter/fordon_motor/flygplan/article2467618.ece/BINARY/SpecifikationerJ35Draken.doc
  4. Or fly the Shooting Range mission, no one will care if you don't go for the targets.
  5. Nice! I really wanted to go but couldn't get away. Saw some of them flying to the show over my head the day before and saw the DC-3 on the day of display as well.:)
  6. It is a real pity but I've gotten increasingly little (nice eh?;)) time for flying lately with my master thesis in the works and responsibilites both at home and in the ArmaII-clan. Maybe in another half year or so. :(
  7. I've written a little bit about my progress with this in the other thread a while back. Currently I feel that my slow CPU is totally hampering me from using this at all. The only way to get it smooth enough in Arma II is to increase the smoothing but that introduces massive "head-lag" ;) to the movements. Also, the games framerates are reduced to such a high degree that it just isn't fun playing. We'll see how it works out with a new processor in the future. Edit: Now I've done some thorough testing in Black Shark and come up with the following settings that worked best for me: Using the 20100716-version I used "Fake TrackIR" as protocol with 2 samples smoothing (EWMA) and a neutral zone of 4. [Direction] [sensitivity] [reduction factor] (inverted) Yaw 300 65 Pitch 300 65 (Inverted) Roll 200 80 X 21 92 (Inverted) Y 21 70 Z 8 100 Still it is sluggish and induces motion sickness in me with the drowsy response, most probably because of my processor not keeping up (see signature, also my web camera is listed there). Hope this helps somebody looking for information.
  8. To use my Extreme 3D Pro I installed the logitech profiler software and adjusted the sensitivity for all the axes to something like 30%.
  9. I can second YS Flightsim 2000! We had a lot of fun on LANs with that!
  10. REALLY cool, I've been waiting for something like this ever since I read about FaceAPI. Thank you a lot for the information! Unfortunately it's still a bit jumpy, needs some clever smoothing I feel. Also, I'd like a way to manually center when I'm looking straight, because now my "straight-forward-head-pose" is interpreted as slightly down... Edit: I was obviously a bit too psyched to try it out that I didn't even read the readme. There exists settings for manual centering already. They even added a clever smoothing scheme in the last version! It kind of works right now. The tracking is a bit slowed down because of the filtering unfortunately, so it's not as responsive as I'd prefer. But still, it's (essentially) equipment-free and free (as in free beer) head tracking that (kind of) works quite well! I'm going to try playing Arma2 with it today during our clan game. Edit2: If anyone is interested: I could not get it to work with either DCS Black Shark or Flaming Cliffs 2, even with TrackIR fixer. Not entirely surprising though, since it only employs the FreeTrack protocol and not the TrackIR-protocol (like the FreeTrack software does). Take note though that I did not try chaining it with a GlovePIE-script, there seems to be some way to emulate TrackIR to make it work in these games as well.
  11. Fairly boring display from engadget imo. Kind of lame they didn't use headtracking and really slewed the view around with the coolie-hat of the stick... Also a lot of talk about A-10C when they were obviously flying the regular A-10 in FC2 (except for Mr Wagner at the very end though!). The hardware looks amazing though, a shame they didn't put some more effort into displaying that. On the other hand the write-up at simhq looks very nice! Going to enjoy reading that tomorrow
  12. Really makes me want to see the movie! Hope it gets over here
  13. Wouldn't that extend to "If you're looking at your model at all, you're playing it wrong?"
  14. Wouldn't it be better to tell them the output resolution? If you print it at 300 dpi then you get the exact right dimensions.
  15. Fantastic! Great thanks to ED/TFC and igormk!
  16. Still miss my Plantronics Gamecom 367, lovely headset but it met an early unexpected and yet unexplained death. Now I use Creative Fatal1ty gaming headset or whatever it's called. Wouldn't recommend it unless you've got very small ears..
  17. Maybe one day late, but hey - somewhere in the world it is still your birthday! :D Congrats!
  18. To be able to fly the Ka-50 on a server with slots available for it you need to have bought DCS: Black Shark and joined the server through that. If you're playing LO2 and just feel the urge of skipping into a Black Shark you're unfortunately out of luck. They are two different products but with the ability to fly online together. Hope this answers your question
  19. Looks REALLY cool! My first reaction upon seeing the stick and throttle was the same as leafer though - too bad there aren't any HOTAS with the russian look
  20. Boulund

    Aeroscout!

    Congrats! Have fun!
  21. A button that you can press half-way for one function, and then fully press it to the stop for another function. (Like the trigger of the X52). Convenient for some things, looks to be really useful in DCS warthog with the stabilization feature before firing the cannon edit: lost the fight to digitaljjd ;)
  22. :) maybe shark-flyers are too occupied inside their cockpits?
