There are a number of horror stories going around in relation to the quality of the Pimax products atm. Personally I would avoid, I feel they are just trying to exploit the stage before the big boys come back with the next gen and wipe them out. Best avoided I think.

What`s this compensation for a short stick. The majority use a short/standard stick when playing dcs. An aircraft has to be trimmed regardless. One has nothing to do with the other. Now for aiming/fine tuning targets, a longer throw will give finer adjustments on the fly. But in relation to trim and having the aircraft fly straight & level w/o inputs just use trim as per usual. It`s not rocket science.
-
A short stick is fine for the F-5. Set your trim to your hat on your stick and just make your gradual trim adjustments, left, right,up, down etc. On taking off just raise your nose wheel to max and trim up according to your loadout weight. It`s simple and straight forward, the F-5 is actually a nice aircraft for steady flight. The F/A-18 is even more of a doddle. If you are short on buttons, consider using a modifier button.

I like the Mirage, it`s a nice aircraft, BUT, RAZBAM have to update the cockpit textures for VR, it`s completely subpar in comparison to other modules. All the switching is completely unreadable. Not really acceptable for today`s users.

This , the clicky cockpits cuts out the nonsense of messing with keybinds (only fly in VR). For this reason I have very little time in the FC aircraft and tend to stick to the full fidelity modules. I`ll have to try the F-15, but much rather the full fidelity version. Luckily we`ll have the F-14 and later F-16 to get to grips with. The F/A-18 is a great module and I imagine great practice for the Viper.

i7 4790k@4.6ghz, 24 gigs ram, SSD & RTX 2080. Mirrors do have an effect on fps and any drop in VR for the sake of mirrors is an unacceptable trade-off imo. Check your fps in VR the next time you toggle mirrors, with ASW off.

HTC Vive & GTX 1080 ti only getting 30 FPS
Zoomer replied to AmazingTechVR's topic in General Tutorials
I get 80-90fps with the rift on the Nevada map, even when only a few feet off the deck. That`s running a i7 4790k @4.6ghz and an RTX 2080. 1.4 PD MSAAx4, AFx16 and High VR settings + shader mod. The other maps, yeah I`ll hover above/around the 45 fps on the deck. -
Yes, there will be an AI pilot in single player (as said). How good is another story. I would likely avoid canyon runs with the AI at the stick.
-
Yes, the cockpit is fairly simple and plain, so there is no wow factor. Best to pick it up on sale.

All pretty good in VR to be fair, even the warbirds since the update. The Mirage is problematic in that you just cannot read the detailing on the cockpit controls even with the VR zoom. The lettering is just tiny. It`s still a great aircraft. The VR difference between modules is not big enough to put one above the other (bar the Mirage), you are better to judge the module on what it can do and whether it`s an A2G or A2A experience you primarily want. Personally the F/A-18 is a great A2G & A2A aircraft with a expanding palette of abilities. It`s the best bang for buck atm, until we see what the F-14 brings to the table. Still the F-18 will be the more versatile when completed. It`s easy to fly and quick to pick up.

Eye tracking and foveated rendering are the future of VR to ease gpu load, Oculus are already working on it. RTX cards already can provide the deep learning on the fly for VR.

Shaders mod, https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=215373 -
Unfortunately in VR, where the mirrors should function as intended, they have to be in the folded up position due to the hit on fps. Let`s hope it gets tackled in the optimization pass.

DCS World - Heatblur F-14 Tomcat - Early Access First Look
Zoomer replied to Jabbers_'s topic in DCS: F-14A & B
The F-14 shaping up to be an excellent module and thanks for your video Jabbers. While the mirrors look excellent, unfortunately for VR they will likely be unusable as usual. Use of the mirrors on all modules leads to a fair amount of fps drop, even running an i7 & 2080. Maybe Heatblur could advise re same, as they are a handy feature to have in a dogfight. -
I wasn`t particularly referring to you initially in relation to the cries of impatience, as previously seen on the thread. Just call it impatience with the impatient
-
You have already made the purchase like myself, which proves my earlier point. Discussion re same after that, is a tad academic, as the horse has not only bolted out of the stable but is halfway to the next parish. Regarding the open beta, I thought most people ran same for the very reason of having access to features early.
-
Non issue. As I said it just an aspect of timing of said purchase, pre-release or just on release. Either way such individuals are going to buy the module and Heatblur`s bottom line will not remotely be affected by such dithering when individuals have already made up their mind that they want the F-14. It`s just a lot of heat over nothing.

I fail to see the complexity of the decision to be made. You either are willing to buy now and wait, or you wait now and buy later. It`s not exactly rocket science.
-
Edit.

I was going to buy the SO+ on Black Friday sale in the U.S and ship to Europe, but there are conflicting reports as to blurriness and comfort etc. I decided to stay with the rift and wait for CV2. With all these different reviews it`s makes the decision to buy less of a dead cert. For some reason the SO/SO+ are not available in the EU, possibly due to stronger consumer rights here, and they are weary of returns. It strikes me that Samsung don`t have sufficient confidence in that product, especially when you can buy every other of their products in Europe without issue.
-
I still think the pilots face looks a bit pale or washed out, it`s like he was out on the tear the night before.
-
Alt+enter works fine for me in the rift.
-
Christ, buy it or don`t buy it, it`s totally up to the consumer. No one is beating anyone with a stick to jump in early. It`s like dealing with a bunch of children. Heatblur should just disengage from such discussion and give a firm release date when ready. In the meantime those of the impatient variety can keep their money in their pocket and fly whatever modules they already have. I fail to see any reason for a song & dance over the issue.

Ok, will have a look later, thanks.
