  1. I'm in exactly the same position. DCS is fun but learning a new module takes long enough and comes with enough frustrations that, for me, it doesn't seem worth spending an hour, 2 hours, 3 hours trying to do something only to eventually learn that it isn't modeled correctly yet. Perhaps if there is a precise, regularly updated list of what works, and what doesn't I would be more inclined to dive into learning the Harrier. But in the current situation there are better ways to spend my limited DCS time. I'm looking forwards to the time when this one is polished and working well - the little time I have spent messing about with it was very fun.
  2. Great, thank you. PM sent. To clarify, I believe rrohde was suggesting that the engineering lads were, at the time, neck deep in getting the next batch of Gunfighters ready to ship while simultaneously finishing up the Kosmosima. This was the reason to expect a bit of a wait. Also I have been using the older model Black Box which came with my pedals and seems to work with the Gunfighter + MCG P (just the lights don't behave as they should according to the manual). So it's not like haven't been able to use my Gunfighter this whole time.
  3. I checked the North America store, once a day, almost every weekday, for about 5 months. I finally had success on the morning before Christmas. I knew that by the time the mailing list email arrived in my inbox, they would be have sold out again. Surprisingly, however, there was stock available in that store for quite few more hours/days than I expected after I submitted my order.
  4. What's the best email to use? The black box that came with my Gunfighter Pro was faulty when I received it. I have support ticket which is almost two months old but hasn't seen any reply. I was warned by rrohde that the engineers can take a very long time to reply to such things. I would love to get this sorted before moving (to a different continent) this summer after which matters of support might become more complicated. Cheers
  5. Thanks, I'm looking forward to it now. I've always been put off it by what is likely a misconception that you spend most of your time trundling around in great, slow circles, head down staring at computer screens, like some kind of heavily armed, hi-tech, overweight vulture. I'm not really into the button pressing aspect of DCS. But I like BD's mirage campaign so much that I've already bought EW3 as well as Piercing Fury.. and I think even the Red Flag campaign - hoping that owning these campaigns would spur me on to learn how to use the damn thing. Last week I started mapping my controls and messing about a little bit. But with this confirmation that the first half of Operation Iron Flag is still happening and the teased model updates I think I will wait it out until one or both of those are ready to go. 'Sides ... 8 days till the Tomcat :music_whistling: which should keep us occupied until Iron Flag is ready to go. (Is it still going to be called Operation Iron Flag, by the way?)
  6. Awesome. This will be what finally (after years of owning it) gets me to bother learning the A-10C.
  7. Excellent. Can't wait for tutorial videos to start popping up all over. On that note, would it be possible to have a stickied thread just for listing official and unofficial F-14 tutorial videos (maybe ask people to refrain from comments and questions in that thread)? Or perhaps one for official HB sponsored videos and another in which anyone can post links to tutorials? It would be lovely to a one-stop reference source. Cheers
  8. Thanks Andre. My apologies - we had a big wind storm here yesterday and my internet connection was not working for the last day. I will send you a private message to arrange this order. Thanks for all your help.
  9. Thanks Andre, that sounds great! Do you mean hairy for the velco to attach to the seat cover? It's quite smooth, velcro will hold things in place, but weakly. The Jetseat straps could easily wrap behind the seat cushion and velcro strongly to the actually seat under the cushion. It's difficult to describe, but I don't think holding the Jetseat in place will be a problem at all.
  10. Thanks Chic. rge75, you are correct, it's only when I'm in copilot and have the gunsight down. Your post made me realize the best way is to just use my autopilot button to toggle control when using the copilot gunsight. It's only one more button press and works well enough to toggle control on/off from that position too. Thanks much for your help. By the way, I really enjoy your helo videos - I watch them all the time. The cinematic ones are brilliant. cheers
  11. Is there a way to prevent the autopilot from taking control when switching to the left side position other than disabling autopilot altogether? When I move to the left seat, my flight controls no longer affect the huey. If I switch back to the ride side pilot seat to make flight adjustments, and then switch again back to the left side, the AI has stowed the gunsight and I have to flip it down again everytime. I know I must be missing something here. Cheers
  12. Hi, I'm looking for a little advice. I'd like to get one of Andre's Jetseats, however my seat is a bit small. I use the same rig for flightsims and race sims and both get about equal play time. So I am wondering which version would be best, both for fitting my seat, but also for maximizing the best tactile feedback for both game types; the JetSeat Race or the JetSeat FSE. my setup: It seems like the JetSeat Race would likely fit better. But how difficult would it be to make a notch for the centered joystick? It already just touches the seat at maximum backward deflection. Also would the JetSeat Race still provide accurate and appropriate feedback for flightsims? Thanks for any suggestions or guidance from anyone. Cheers
  13. Please don't consider a few very vocal and shockingly unreasonable voices on these forums as 'the community'. The vast, vast majority of us are quietly, if eagerly, awaiting the best F-14 you can make; whenever it will arrive.
  14. Personally, I very much hope it has autostart. :drink: :joystick: And maybe some function to weed out would-be-elitist, keyboard warriors too. Does Jester have a 'Lighten up, Francis' in his repertoire?
  15. I know I'm jumping the gun here - pre-release and all, but ... I think the F-18 Mission for the Week is a brilliant idea (especially for a sim which has had, since inception, a paucity of actual things to do). I assume ED has more resources to draw on for this kind of thing, but I would LOVE to see something like this for the Tomcat. It doesn't need to be fancy, with voice-overs etc. It doesn't even need to be weekly. Mission for the Month would be great. I buy all my modules purely based on content available for it. I had no interest in the Mi-8, but when I saw that it has as many campaigns available as it does, I decided to buy it. I bought the Mirage and the Harrier solely because it has Baltic Dragon powering the offline content. I'm really looking forward to the official Viggen campaign, having already purchased the Red Flag one. I have zero interest in the F-18, but am on the verge of buying it purely because of its Missions for the Week. I know the Heatblur F-14 doesn't need more incentive for people to buy it, but having a regular-ish mission drop for it ... sometime down the road after release etc ... would be a real cherry on the top of the already delicious Tomcat Cake (caveat - I don't really like cherries on my pastries :puke:, but you get my meaning). Maybe you could work the mission drop into beta testing features, or something. Anyway, just a thought. This game needs sooooo much help in the offline content area and I very much like the direction ED seems to be heading this past year. Looking forwards to release and hope you guys can have a well earned rest a.s.a.p..
  16. Then don't include instant action missions. But I would rather have it fixed. I enjoy DCS more as a flight sim than a button switching sim. With a real life family, simming time is short and often interrupted. I use automatic startup and hot starts all the time. The first thing many players will do after purchasing a module is hop into instant action. Being instantly assaulted by blaring warning beeps and Rita haranguing you makes a lousy first impression. I also play Battlefield with my friends occasionally, and though I'm sure it wasn't meant this way, this comment rings slightly of elitism and sim-snobbery. Pay for the game - play it the way you want.
  17. Thanks for the reply. Yes it is truly bizarre. Yesterday I tested it a dozen more times - same results. Almost every time there was no audio and no text for either the pilot or ATC messages, ground crew always works fine. Once or twice, the pilot voice and text would work but not the ATC - from either Anapa or Sochi. And only once, everything worked. During every attempt, I tripled checked the Wave Number settings, because I suspected that must be causing the issue. Today it seems completely fine again, all is working as intended. I think it must be related to using Vaicom Pro (perhaps the Force Nato Names setting?). Except that I know, 100%, that I tried playing it without Voice Attack and therefore Vaicom running, more than once, and it didn't fix the issue. Anyway, fingers crossed it remains working. Thanks again for the reply. And thanks for a very fun and immersive campaign! The reviews for The Museum Relic are universally full of praise - I can easily see why. Your campaign was the only reason I purchased the little Mig. And now I'm very pleased I did, it's all kinds of fun. I will add my voice to all those that heartily recommend The Museum Relic. Now, make another one for us please. :pilotfly:
  18. I've just started this fun looking campaign but seem to have strange a issue. I am probably missing something since I am still just learning the Mig. I'm only on Mission 2. When I try to request permission for startup I never get a reply. Actually I have reloaded and tried this mission multiple times trying to figure out what is wrong - and I did get a reply once. But then when I ask for permission for takeoff, again no reply at all. I have tested the Mig in instant action and everything works as expected. 1- Ground power on 2- Generator on 3- Radio on 4- Check the wave number is correct ATC replies every time in Instant Action. However in the mission, I get no reply and when I pull up the menu again, 'Request Startup' is gone, and 'Request Taxi' has already appeared And if I request taxi, I again get no reply. Just to be clear, there is no audio reply and no on screen text reply. It doesn't seem to matter if I am using Vaicom Pro or not. I know this is a very minor thing, but I suspect I am just doing something incorrectly, and I want to get as much immersion from what looks like a terrific campaign. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might be doing incorrectly or what might be causing this? Cheers
  19. Anyone know if can you assign these buttons a shift state as well? Cheers
  20. Perhaps, but not written like it was. Sorry about that - I hate typing on a mobile. Thanks to rrohde and everyone who contributes to this thread.
  21. This thread has some of the best explained info. I just got my MCG Pro/GF Pro last week. The first hour of looking at WIZZO and VKBdevCfg was intimidating, but thanks to this thread it quickly all made sense and became very easy to set up. I got my folding trigger working as desired, and set up a shift key to double the number of buttons very easily. Once set up, it's quite brilliant.
  22. Thanks. I figured only one box is required. I just wanted to make sure there hasn't been any updates to the boxes themselves over the years. Cheers
  23. Quick question: is the Black(Orange)Box that currently ships with the MCG Pro-Gunfighter MkII identical to that which came with the T-Rudders Mk.IV? There is no reason to use one vs other, correct?
  24. Absolutely! This was the main (maybe only) reason I bought both the Mirage and the Harrier. It shows a commitment to provide quality content for the game above and beyond just building the aircraft - which much of DCS lacks. This sounds great. I know it sounds corny to say, but I love the foreign accents in the English voice-overs. It adds so much to the atmosphere of the game. There have been many games where the voices used completely turn me off (I'm shallow); the yeehah voice of Strike Fighters and the goatrope voice in Falcon 4 made cringe every single time I heard them. The French accent for the Mirage adds much to the atmosphere of the campaign and compliments your narrative, which is so well written. This is something that a generic, nonsensical accent would definitely detract from. I know it takes a long time to have such high production value, but it's totally worth it in my opinion. If you keep making campaigns this way, I will keep buying them, without a doubt.
  25. I'd love to have it lightened up a bit too. It feels like the inside of the cockpit was painted for Hotblack Desiato - absorbing most of the visible spectrum and reflecting very little.
