Hey Weegie, did you ever figure out if this works / what you need to do? I have the same question and could not find if your question was ever answered. Version 2.5.6 has broken too many things at the moment so I want to keep a pre-256 install so I can finish up some of the campaigns (Piercing Fury, EW3) at my leisure without fear of permanent breakage. cheers

Thanks Chic, that is a solution I would have never guessed in a million years. I had no idea Simshaker for Aviators had such things in them. I'll try the silent wav file replacement. I appreciate the link to the info and file - much more helpful than yet another unsolicited 'git gud'. cheers

Mission two - triggers bugged?
wowbagger replied to Sawamura's topic in A-10C Operation Piercing Fury Campaign
One of DCS's biggest problems is the way missions are broken so frequently with updates. It must discourage mission/campaign builders and it lowers the attractiveness of older modules (Mig-21 for example). I am specifically avoiding the 2.5.6 update because, until last week, I hadn't yet started Piercing Fury and was afraid it would be broken by the update. And since it is no longer for sale, I'm worried about future functionality. I will either put off updating until I finish this campaign, or make a separate installation just for this kind of thing. I did the first mission last week and I must say it is amazing work! This campaign (so far) shows the true potential of DCS. ED would be far better served to have talented campaign builders brought in house and make much more such content, instead of incidentally breaking the missions so often and leaving it to the mission designers to always play catch up. Imagine how much good content this game could have by this point. It seems like such a neglected and lost opportunity to greatly enhance DCS. -
Bumping this thread. (apologies) Has it been explained? In the UN Campaign, Pedro (or whatever his name is) chastised me in Russian when I wasn't following his flight plan closely enough. And, sometimes I get the 'Spanish sounding' (VRS?) warning shouted at me even when flying non-UN Pilot campaign flights. Both ruin the atmosphere a bit.

Yes I have to agree. From a developer's perspective, perhaps doing the Kiowa first and then coming back to the Gazelle makes sense. From the consumer's perspective it makes no sense at all. I'm waiting on the Gazelle before buying the Kiowa.

Wow, the level of behaviour in this thread is just ... wow. Everyone is allowed to express an opinion about the game which they bought, without being discounted or insulted or treated to schoolyard bullying.

"Ka-50. Possible typos in EN cockpit" - DCS 2.5.6.43872 Open Beta Is it coming with English pit already?
-
That looks so good. Blue/ English is what I would like. Actually I will wait until an English pit is available. It's difficult enough to memorize multiple cockpits for this game. I can just about manage the Latin based alphabets - Swedish pits and French pits etc. I just don't have the time available to try to do it in alphabets I can't read, though I know lots of people do.

Haven't tried it again yet post DCS 2.5.6.43453 Open Beta patch, but thank you very much for fixing this. This kind of thing is much appreciated!

I love my Jetseat from Andre - it makes sims really come alive. For helos it is simply amazing. And Andre's service is excellent. I've mounted my Jetseat motors inside the seat of my sim rig. It works extremely well and is super comfy this way. However the vibrations are strong enough to be noticeable on the floor below the gaming room, even with carpet and massive old wooden floorboards. I was playing through the Enemy Within 3.0 a few days ago :joystick: and afterwards my wife asked if I was moving a lot of furniture around upstairs. :D I have tried turning down the vibration strength but it doesn't make a huge difference. The rig sits on little round feet. Can anyone recommend a good vibration insulating material to slip under the feet which could prevent awkward explanations about my vibrating chair? Cheers

 Good point, well made.

I always say simpler is better. I'd lose everything except the yellow tank top, red bikini bottoms, and big hair. And perhaps a paperclip holding everything to the kneeboard.

Updated manual and other goodies from Baltic Dragon
wowbagger replied to baltic_dragon's topic in RAZBAM
Completely agree! Thanks BD -
If this could be fixed it would be highly appreciated. I understand that the earlier modules take precedence, however this seems like it would not take much to fix, so we could use this module frustration free while the more involved work on the Mirage and Harrier continues. As it stands none of the Razbam modules are enjoyable at the moment. The Mirage campaign and training is hampered by the changes of last year (welcome changes, I totally agree), the Harrier has no campaign (because it needs to be finished before the campaign can be made). I bought the Mig-19 specifically because it includes Baltic Dragon content (best thing about DCS) and because it was essentially finished. I actually had little interest in the 19 before, but I wanted to support BD and any company smart enough to employ him. At the moment however, it seems none of my Razbam modules can be enjoyed as they were meant to be - and this 'moment' is actually months and months long. Quite frustrating (and definitely affecting my future purchasing decisions).

Awesome. Many thanks! -
Thanks for these! This fun little bird needs a lot more missions/campaign.

Great little plane! Really needs a cool COIN campaign. :flowers:

Still a horrible mess. I'm starting to really like the huey, but this particular mission is hateful. The Huey could be one of the jewels in the DCS crown alonside the A-10C if a few things are fixed - especially multi-crew and the lighting. But seriously, this mission hasn't worked for years, apparently. It was contrived feeling from the start, so if it can't be made to work, at least just remove it from the campaign altogether. Better to have one less mission than keep it as a frustration inducing detriment to the module and the game.
-
Great. Thanks to you both for the updates. I can just wing it with the campaign for now. Cheers

Does anyone know which training missions are affected or won't work properly because of the changes from the past year? Thinking about diving into the Mirage again, but desperately need to refresh my knowledge. The campaigns work fine for the most part, yes? Cheers (Happy New Year to those celebrating this weekend :holiday:!)

Thanks for the great review! Helps with a lot of my questions. Much appreciated.

Gunfighter 3 - a new generation of a flag carrier base!

I'd love to hear your view on the upgrade, so please share when it arrives. -
I'm in the boring as f... camp. (not the Viggen specifically, but start-up in general) Also, the startup sequence on some aircraft involves reaching for buttons on the sides and often laterally behind the pilot. I find these can be a real pain in the butt to look at and reach with track IR /mouse sometimes, twisting your head in goofy positions, zooming in and out. I don't enjoy the button hunt. Once up and flying, 95% of everything you need is on the hotas or right in front of you, easy to see and reach. Again, I'm not picking on the Viggen here (and I don't mind the cassette insert etc) but talking about DCS in general. If I were pushing buttons in a real cockpit I think it would be significantly easier than using track IR and trying to twist dials with my mouse buttons. It's a little thing, but one more reason to have auto-startup on every module. I wouldn't avoid the Viggen because there's no auto-start yet implemented. But there is no reason not to include it eventually. Make sure your sim appeals to the broadest possible audience -> keep it viable and (in theory) cheaper. It's win-win. If anyone says auto-start shouldn't be allowed they are only shooting themselves in the foot. :inv:

+1 With so much BD content to look forwards to, 2020 is looking like Year of the Dragon.
