Is it going to be worth going 3090 to 4090?
Tom Kazansky replied to Digitalvole's topic in Virtual Reality
DCS is not openGL like XP11 was. So I would not expect that "MASSIVE" gain here. And there is no AMD/ATI penalty in DCS like it was in XP11. -
I see advantages in carrying two poles. The multithreading pole and the clouds/weather pole. But I respect every other opinion in this case.
-
Agreed. And I insist on being hyped between "soon" and release for at least 3 months! An over-night release of multithreading could be dangerous for my health.

Is it going to be worth going 3090 to 4090?
Tom Kazansky replied to Digitalvole's topic in Virtual Reality
Agreed. But AMD changed the "launch" to a "reveal" of the RX7000's on November 3rd. This does not bode well. -

Announcing the F-4 Phantom for DCS World!
Tom Kazansky replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
I'm completely with you. It is important. But HB's top level of quality and reliability is not harmed by that. My opinion. So back to topic. Does HB give enough info about their F-4? Well, not for me. Does it mean I don't trust HB anymore concerning the F-4 project? Not at all! I'm sure HB will not let us down. -
Is it going to be worth going 3090 to 4090?
Tom Kazansky replied to Digitalvole's topic in Virtual Reality
Well... a lot of people that don't have a problem with money have a problem with patience. So nVidia would sell a lot of RTX 4080s and 4070s but most of those customers won't buy a 4090 one month later, imho. -
Announcing the F-4 Phantom for DCS World!

I don't want to offend anybody but isn't the fact you have chosen that issue the best proof for the top quality of the HB F-14 in DCS World? -
Is it going to be worth going 3090 to 4090?
Tom Kazansky replied to Digitalvole's topic in Virtual Reality
Thanks for the update. Makes my answer to OP's question a lot easier: no. -
Oh, oh... one more subject for "when...?"-threads Seriously, that's really looking great. Impatiently waiting for it.

Is it going to be worth going 3090 to 4090?
Tom Kazansky replied to Digitalvole's topic in Virtual Reality
It seems odd anyways that nVidia has spent 10 billion $ to get enough 40X0 chips of TSMC and has produced 4090's since August and now all very expensive products are sold on day one. -
Is it going to be worth going 3090 to 4090?
Tom Kazansky replied to Digitalvole's topic in Virtual Reality
same on the German nVidia web site. there are sources that say it starts 15:00 CET (13 UTC) -
The one thing I don't get is: why should the poorest customer in your examples now should pay 14.99$ instead of the offered 9.99$? I am one of those and beg you: please don't speak for me.

Ok. At least you don't kill my high hopes. Thanks.

So, can you confirm, that new multithreading for DCS will run faster the more cores are used and not just go from 2 threads to e.g. 4?

Thanks for the hint. Sometimes I don't check the language and just answer the question in the language that is used. Sorry. Edited my posts.

Why is ED suddenly recommending MP players use BETA over Stable?
Tom Kazansky replied to Dangerzone's topic in DCS 2.9
and since ED established their closed beta testers team, the quality of open betas they put out seems to be quite decent, compared to earlier days. -

What kind of accuracy should I expect from JDAMs?
Tom Kazansky replied to Nealius's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
JDAMs are specified 43 ft (13m). I read of realised 5m to 7m with GPS/INS and 30m with INS only. To check accuracy in DCS use unlimited weapons and active pause. Then drop as many bombs as you need on the same spot and check circle of hits on the ground. It helps if you place an indestructible target with known size. -
Some more modern "Flaming Cliffs" modules
Tom Kazansky replied to Flogger23m's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Would you be interested in purchasing more simplified "Flaming Cliffs" style modern fighters? Where is the "no" button? -
