  1. @cfrag thanks a lot for the miz and the updates! I believe there is a huge need for such an effort for each and every map in DCS. I also find it usefull to have a thread where people can add their findings and their spots of interest. Just think about doing this for the other maps, plz. So that we will usually hear people saying: "Have you tried cfrag's tourist map of the (new) map yet?"
  2. +1 With the mission editor you can add an important way of training with low frustration potential by using the invulnerability option. After the flight or even during the flight you can evaluate hits by enemy weapons with the event/score page of DCS. For immersion I use Nevada map. Flying out of Nellis to a target range feels very much like training the "real thing" imho.
  3. I don't use open beta and can confirm that Marianas map is also available to stable version of DCS for a long time.
  4. Both have similar max weight. Ka-50 has ~10% more power and retractable gear which could be an advantage at high speeds. edit: I also wonder if the Kamov's coaxial rotors are better for top speeds. There is no loss of energy like the Apache needs with its anti torque tail rotor.
  5. No worries, DCS means patience.
  6. please feel free to post your results here. I'm very interested in this subject, for I wonder what I could gain with a faster CPU even with maxed GPU load. Especially in MT-DCS.
  7. 100% agreed. But I didn't mean to stay on those lower settings. I suggested it to understand how CPU/GPU load works, then return and enjoy. I can only repeat: as long as GPU load is 99% maxed out, there is no way a higher CPU load gets more FPS. I for one am quite happy, that my GPU is the bottleneck too under those conditions because as soon as there are more AI units or other players, your CPU will get enough work to do.
  8. Have you monitored GPU temperature? Do you have a tool like MSI Afterburner for testing your issue with (e.g.) a 70% power limit to reduce GPU temperatures?
  9. Imho you see the expected behaviour for a maxed out GPU (99% in your case). Since the rendering work of CPU and GPU happens parallelly (shifted by a couple of frames) the CPU is not able to push more frames if GPU is at full load. For testing you could reduce GPU load by reducing e.g. the resolution significantly. Then you should see a higher CPU load.
  10. I also use LMC for ground stabilisation. Works quite well while the Apache moves slowly.
  11. It is "promised" to be available before launch:
  12. After pressing ESCAPE you will find an option to show all messages of the mission.
  13. Same here. Tried a hover landing today and had an uncommanded 360° "aileron"-roll (yeah, helicopters don't have ailerons) at an altitude of 500 ft and survived. You see those rolls are very fast. (I'm sorry I have no track file.)
  14. And when you trim you shift the deadzone to the right or left or what ever in the real thing? How is that working?
  15. And the real Hornet stick has a deadzone too, so the pilot doesn't have to fiddle with the BALT hold? I doubt it. I guess Boeing/McDonnell Douglas implemented their autopilot with more tolerance to movement, but I have no proof.
  16. 11:20 "in the real aircraft... when you refuel... the boom will kinda drive you around a little bit. so once you get connected it's pretty easy to stay where you're at" Although I'm able to refuel under the unrealistic conditions of current DCS AAR/boom implementation where you don't feel any contact at all, I won't stop to ask: Please ED, can we finally get this kind of realistic improvement??? I don't want to start another DCS-AAR-discussion here. I would like to end those with this request.
  17. is this a "Spherical Earth Map"-teaser? So I would name it: "The whole world"
  18. Thanks for the news on voice chat progress! Can't wait to hear combat radio style sounds with real people.
  19. That's the problem. / does not work airborne. You wanna find and bind the buttons each aircraft's radio(s) need to transmit. The "/" key is only for ground ops as @Art-J also stated. This seems to be one of the most unintuitive features of DCS World. There are lots of users (me included) that have been running into this trap. So I hope the new ATC implementation will get rid of this - some day, better sooner than later! Good news is: If you'll get by this issue it will feel really great to use the radios with each aircraft. Imho.
  20. There are lots of threads that state that the comms button you use for ground communication does not work airborne by design. Are you sure you have the proper key bindings for the radio buttons? (not the # or \) You will need those midair. Maybe a short track could be useful.
  21. 1. Are you on the ground or flying when you try? (It doesn't work midmair, you will need Comm 1 or comm 2 buttons of the plane's radio) 2. Is it only with the F-16C? 3. Is "easy comms" in the ME on or off?
  22. thanks a lot. yeah, that thread is not for the current version of Virpil software, but it finally showed me the way to getting things sorted. Biggest issue was not having a "result button" anymore. But Virpil decided to simply create "physical" buttons when needed by "axis-to-buttons" (or whatever they call them). I'm ok with that, now!
  23. EDIT: disregard plz. I've found out that my version of software does not need the "result button" anymore. The resulting buttons are created without it. original post: hi, I'm new to Virpil stuff. I'd like to have this axis to button thingy for my new CM3 throttle, but my Virpil software doesn't seem to have the "result button" area in the "axis to button (customizable areas)" block. What I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mine looks like (VPC_Software_Setup_v20230328):
  24. I don't want to derail this thread, but could you please lead me to an explanation of how to do exactly this with my new VPC throttle? Does it keep the "usual" throttle behaviour once you get over the idle detent (coming from cut off)? edit: disregard. I've found this thread here:
