I fly FC aircraft when they are the only option for the job. I.e. flying the Su-25 and A-10A for ground attack on the Enigma Cold War server. I would likely fly them more if they had interactive (clickable) cockpits (not the mod),

So you find your RIO annoying and can’t make him change his attitude? Just simulate being junior to him and consider full immersion complete.

As to your first point, so what? ECW must have struck just the right cord because it came out of no where and became hugely successful. Your second point borders on a sort of mis-placed elitism. Do you really believe only FC3 players takeoff from runways? If so, then you been paying attention.

I would be surprised if most of the actual pilots playing DCS don't use auto-start most of the time. Speaking for myself, I use it exclusively, if available.

You say that, and from a technology perspective it might even be true in an all-out war, but "peacetime" ROE's can still result in WVR engagements.

Fair enough. I doubt any fighter that broke under those conditions would be accepted, but that's a subjective opinion and checking the numbers is prudent. I would offer that even if the numbers supported the likelihood of a break, then the problem may be getting to that point with very little effort on the part of the player. In other words, I had very little stick movement, so maybe that is what needs to be adjusted.

People can judge for themselves if this can be attributed to normal behavior. With the proven popularity of the F-5 in the Enigma Cold War server, this problem has only become more critical. I confess I have no idea what that has to do with my post that you reference. However, it does seem to me that you believe modern jets routinely maneuvering at 12g is just normal aircraft performance.

This is exactly the point. Yes, F-15's have pulled 12g's in real-life, and it's such a rare occurrence that it's possible there's public information about every single one. And in real-life that is the exception but in DCS it is the rule. To compare the real-life "12g" examples to the performance in DCS completely misses the mark.

Except in real life they don't ever use the paddle switch except in extreme circumstances to save the jet. Tanks or no tanks. If the goal is to compare the real-life performance of the Hornet v. anything else, it simply has to be done without the paddle. Otherwise, it's just fantasy.

No, I meant the F-14. I was referring to the comment above about "the other jets". The F-14, like the F-15 (and others, as well) can be made to overperform.

So for the record, you have no reason to believe the F-15 and F-14 are over-performing. And, no. I am not going to provide evidence. I would no sooner try to prove the earth is round. Sure, but that can't happen right now. Plus it wouldn't solve the "problem" of the other aircraft (See comment above) The very existence of Auto-GCAS seems to dispute the "fantasy" claim. BLASPHEMY!!!!

Really? Pilots don't ever start getting tunnel vision at about 9 to 10g? Pilots have never GLOC'd snapping to 11g? They would start blacking out at 8.5g and GLOC at 9.5g

I agree with this. I recommend a two-tiered over-g model. First, the player starts experiencing gradual gray out starting at 1g over limit, culminating in GLOC at 2g over limit. This would allow the player to use the resulting tunnel vision as a sort of g meter, helping them stay within the limits. The second tier of the over-g model would be instant GLOC for an extreme, instantaneous spike. For example, a Tomcat or Eagle pilot yanking the stick back to 11 or more g's. To discourage this behavior, the resulting GLOC could even be permanent for that sortie, meaning they would stay blacked out and crash. It could be called, "Tournament Mode" Just a thought.

Maybe people are putting too much credence in the comments of real pilots who have flown or flown against both jets, and almost universally agree the Hornet is great at slow speeds, but the F-16 is otherwise one of the toughest opponents. Anecdotal, certainly. But maybe in this case the consensus of opinion is pointing to the truth.

There is plenty of information posted already, and still people cannot agree. So, I prefer to not waste my time. But I'd offer the F-18's complete BFM dominance in DCS is the biggest indicator there is a divergence from reality. No one speaks about it that way in real life. Not even the Hornet pilots themselves. And its dominance comes from using the paddle. I have a lot of time dogfighting in the DCS Hornet, and the difference between paddle and no-paddle is night and day.

This is the one thing I agree with you on. Personally, I have no idea if the F-16 is underperforming, but I have no doubt that the F-18 with the paddle is severely overperforming. This assumes, of course, that we are comparing them to their real-life counterparts.

What? Seriously, it's probably me, but I have no idea what your point is. Also, your assessment of the paddle is just plain incorrect. The dominance of the Hornet in BFM is directly attributable to using the paddle.
