  1. I was typing up a different perspective on this but lost interest. The reality is the OP request will never be implemented anyway, and the tireless guardians of “realism” will never be swayed. So what’s the point.
  2. Agreed. A visual reference would be nice to offset the lack of a physical reference.
  3. FWIW I do a lot of flying on Enigma's Cold War server, which is very CPU dependent. The difference between the 5600X and 5800X3D was night and day, and really worth the cost.
  4. I did that exact same upgrade and thought it was well worth it.
  5. Still experiencing this in ST using openXR. Labels in one eye only. MT works okay.
  6. Labels are working for me with this exception: Flying in VR single thread, labels are only displaying in one eye. I do not experience this in multithread.
  7. I wish this were a higher priority...
  8. Even accepting the 10.2g-load (which I don’t, but have no evidence), it is still far too easy to break the wings. I have had the smallest stick movement at 500+kts result in them snapping off. This simply does not happen in real life. So maybe the problem is with the default curve coded to stick movement at high speed.

    Not the F-8?
  10. Is this what you're looking for?
  11. This is the disconnect. You believe it, but it’s just not true. There are lots of public servers that don’t address it one way or another.
  12. No, it was the original series. I remembered it myself, but did google searches to confirm my memory. The original series was 1978, and the name seems to have been first purposed around 1980. Seems the jet didn't have an official name yet, and pilots were suggesting Viper, taken from the TV show. The name Fighting Falcon became official that same year (I think).
  13. I intended to include this quote as well
  14. Nice to see people with apparent first hand knowledge dispelling some of the long held myths on this topic.
  15. Well said. Much nicer than I could phrase it.

    Are you on Open Beta?
  17. It was the 80's.
  18. Fair enough. But I fly VR with PointCTRL and love the simplicity it brings to operating the controls. So, an interactive cockpit is a very high priority for me.
  19. You misunderstood. The F-16's official name is Fighting Falcon, named after the USAFA mascot. The alternate name "Viper" for the F-16 was taken from the name of the fighters spacecraft in "Battlestar Galactica". null
  20. I fly FC aircraft when they are the only option for the job. I.e. flying the Su-25 and A-10A for ground attack on the Enigma Cold War server. I would likely fly them more if they had interactive (clickable) cockpits (not the mod),
  21. So you find your RIO annoying and can’t make him change his attitude? Just simulate being junior to him and consider full immersion complete.
  22. As to your first point, so what? ECW must have struck just the right cord because it came out of no where and became hugely successful. Your second point borders on a sort of mis-placed elitism. Do you really believe only FC3 players takeoff from runways? If so, then you been paying attention.
  23. 1. What he made was one of the most popular servers in DCS. 2. Options satisfying both preferences already coexist in DCS and it seems to work just fine.
  24. I would be surprised if most of the actual pilots playing DCS don't use auto-start most of the time. Speaking for myself, I use it exclusively, if available.
  25. You say that, and from a technology perspective it might even be true in an all-out war, but "peacetime" ROE's can still result in WVR engagements.
