Pk is contextual and shouldn't be conflated with Pwe Otherwise on numbers alone one could think that an AIM-9H is a better weapon than say an AIM-9L or AIM-9X... It would be interesting too if we knew how many of those missile shots were used for posturing or for achieving mission kills If I am not mistaken we don't have nearly enough footage of those air to air duels as we do with say desert storm or southern watch Regardless of that in testing I think that graphs or testing against Players (though I lean more towards the former if possible) is going to be more useful. Even Nick Grey has commented at how lack luster the current combat AI implementation is in DCS. Not to mention the sim is supposed to a realistic depiction on the difficulty of avoiding modern missiles for players on both the shooting and receiving end
-
Yes, it certainly is All that's needed is an Aero rework of the R family of missiles and some avionics tweaked like the Peer to Peer on the Sukhois and Lazur on the MiGs
-
The first post implies its about the lack of DL stations / support not lacking the feature in the plane
-
Makes you think what was the original point of the vote The J-11 had DL like a Su-27SK though at the start of its service China didn't have ground stations which could talk to it, DCS does have those support assets which can talk to the avionics it already came with, if some one wished to model it without DL support the mission maker simply shouldn't give the J-11s side EWR or AWACS

What is Deka's opinion on the Peer to Peer and Fighter to Fighter modes of the J-11A? https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=187698 It is a problem with the Su-27 & 33 in DCS but does Deka plan to rectify this with their coming J-11A MFI-55 update? Would be much appreciated to see Deka succeed where ED could not, as it would also make for a more realistic depiction of its capabilities

[REQUESTED]Su27 datalink not working with clients
TaxDollarsAtWork replied to Frostie's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
Is this still in the tracker? Has work started? -
I'd be overjoyed at potentially getting and FC3/SSM Su-30MKK, Su-27SKM, Su-30MKI etc in MAC or what not Seems like the only way to go for modern redair
-
I'd like to know if it is possible for Deka to possible do some flavour of FF flanker Chinese or Otherwise As the type is in if I am not mistaken reserve service could maybe an early Russian/Kit built version be made? With avionics identical to other export Su-27SKs when first delivered? Maybe take the J-11A w/ MFI-55 thing one step further and model it in full fidelity? Or possibly even a Su-30MKK I heard one of you has access to the manual for it
-
Will you now be considering the addition of the R-73 RDM-2 to DCS?
-
Now another question since you don't need a dedicated CW horn on these modern aircraft to fire later SARH missiles, what is needed then? Some planes are incapable of using them, do they need certain software to communicate with the missile and give it PDI? Does that software take up too much space and is replaced with some other capabilities in later 4th gen fighters?
-
It would be interesting if I'm not mistaken don't both late SARH & ARH work on a PDI principle that is a Ultra HPRF STT with the difference being the guiding emitter somewhat mimicking CW (and ofc either in the planes radar or missile head)?
-
While this under some extremely rare circumstances might've been the case with 1st gen seekers like on the AIM-9B (even then it might just get close enough and proxy fuse the R-27ER so its a mute point) we are talking about something like a concentric annular ring reticle, which will continue to estimate the movement of the original target in its FOV to predict where it will be, which is how its able to at times tell apart Flares from the target when the flares obstruct the target, the bandit you want to kill would simple be seen and ignored as they never over lap, and if they did chances are it would stick with the original R-27ER you had locked more likely than not
-
Deka has said there are many different sub variants of the J-11/J-11A I'd like the latest one or one at least with the single MFI-55 MFD & better avionics to come sometime soon

I'd like to touch upon the topic of the AIM-9M & R-73 once again Previously you mentioned that there was simply one version of the Archer, the one we have in the game (with regard to gimbals not fuzes at least) This statement from a former RuAF pilot says otherwise https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4446356&postcount=3793 A version with 60/75 degree gimbals was adopted in the late 1990s Now then, could it be possible for DCS to have early and late blocs of the R-73 & AIM-9M? One version representing their performance in the 1980s and one for the 1990s? for the AIM-9M subsequent models would have improved CCM I'm not sure if the same could be said for the late R-73 but it certainly would then have the better gimbals and allow for mission makers to have more Authenticity in the scenarios they wish to make
-
Though I certainly wouldn't be against this I feel as though the Su-27SK would be a nicer choice because it would better satisfy those which want something that would potentially fare better vs modern noughties teen series fighters, provided the missiles get reworked and the avionics do too (such as intra flight data link) It would also allow for at least a depiction of reserve elements of a near peer adversaries air power Given the manual was unclassified in 2004 it begs to question why even this version isn't considered as a FF module
-
Uboats has mentioned that it was trialed on a late J-11A https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3598661&postcount=57 Though, it wouldn't make for an authentic depiction of the J-11A's capabilities A Su-30MKK would probably do the trick though...
-
I think that's a bad way to look at it People who want these games don't enjoy the tedium of interacting with every switch and so on, usually a patience/free time thing but they do desire the most authentic depiction of each system (in how it performs) as can be achieved, to do otherwise would shoot the company/product in the foot As an aside, I also see frequent mention of the Su-27SM, how hard would it to see something like it in the upcoming MAC/FC4?
-
I think Deka might just need to grow some thicker skin and counter criticism with module improvements. The internet is the internet and everyone's a critic some harsher than others. I for certain would hate to see Deka go as Chinese asset/plane development is pretty important to any combat flight sims rendition of redfor... its not all WARPACT...
-
Doesn't the Archer also needs a CFD like the AIM-9?

Today I found out there was a VTOL mig21
TaxDollarsAtWork replied to ngreenaway's topic in MiG-21Bis
Certainly would've been a fun Easter egg -
The version we have in the game is the RVV AE, from the mid 1990s though essentially unchanged from the original late 1980s design This version has a relatively small/low powered motor limiting it though with the new Aerodynamic rework you'll find it might be much better in regards to agility as it has a critical AOA of around 50 compared to 30 on most traditional missiles if I'm not mistaken and less drag when it coast above transonic speeds
-
We are getting something very close to this but not exactly The Marianas I'd be all for an all water map too if you could spawn small airbases in Mission editor like a certain older sim let you Or even a series of islands, like Northern Australia + Malaysia and Indonesia, would make a lot of sense actually given the Chinese assets pack
-
OP, I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment even though I have no interest in such planes my self anymore (though I did play these types of games a lot in my childhood and that's probably how I ended up in DCS). Lite sims or Survey sims are an important almost fundamental steppingstone between arcade games and study sims like DCS has now become and it's a market that since the 1990s has been awfully neglected, And partly why I think the flight sim community has not grown as much as other ones. ED is now coming out with Modern Air Combat though which adds more planes to the FC3 Line up (off the top of my head L-39, F-86, MiG-21, & F-5) in the survey sim FC3 style. It wouldn't be out of the question I think to later on see more DCS planes rendered in that style if it turns out to be successful enough.
