  1. Hi Andre, Just wondering, any chance you could implement a feature where we could have just a regular constant rumble in IL-2 in addition to the pitch/roll data? I know it wouldn't be the most realistic thing since it's not tied to any telemetry data, but at least for me it would be preferable to not having any feedback at all when my stick is centered.
  2. Not sure if you have it on, but IL-2 has a post-processing sharpen filter that really does a lot to increase sharpness in VR without much performance impact.
  3. I'm surprised you say that because it's one of the most obvious ways to increase visual quality in VR (at the cost of huge performance). If you try to read the text in your cockpit with PD 1.0 and then 1.5 you should see a pretty significant difference in sharpness of text.
  4. Another downside is comfort. Never tried one but I've heard very often the Quest is extremely front heavy and uncomfortable to wear for long periods. Quest is also 72 Hz, and the video will be compressed, so the image quality won't be quite as good and have more latency. Rift S is still the better pure PCVR headset, especially for simming imo. No regrets about buying it, and no interest in the quest here. I think they will continue to support the S, but it's clear Quest is where their priorities lie now, and I bet that's because it has way more sales. Encouraging thing since we need as many people getting into VR right now as we can. I was skeptical about the staying power of an Android based headset, but it seems to be doing well.
  5. Yeah, exactly. I was a bit worried at first, but people have been running the mod for years now with no ill effect. MS really built these things well. The power circuit area does get a bit warm to the touch, but not too bad. I always unplug it after use anyways.
  6. They must just be out of that part. I ordered some Cougar hats a few months ago.
  7. 12cm extension using this part: https://www.shapeways.com/product/QDSU4NS69/force-feedback-2-to-thrustmaster-adapter-120mm?optionId=63770860. I did a mod that boosts the current going to the motors by 2x. You just have to solder 8 resistors on top of some existing ones. Feels about the same as stock with the extension, if not a bit stronger. Details in this post: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=152723
  8. I couldn't go back to non FFB. Completely killed my desire for Virpil/VKB. It just feels more alive. I love it for helo trim especially. The F14 FFB implementation is also really good, in particular the stick shakes proportionally to AoA, so you can gauge it by feel. I added an extension and changed the grip on mine and it solved a lot of the issues I had with precision and lack of inputs.
  9. Keep in mind low GPU usage can be normal if you cannot hit your headset's native refresh and you go into reprojection, since your GPU now only has to work half as hard.
  10. Pretty sure that's called an ICD connector: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insulation-displacement_connector
  11. Finished mating an F-22 Pro grip to my MS FFB2 with debolestis' excellent parts. I mainly used this post as a guide for the wiring and code: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=152723. To remove the software deadzone, I also tapped the X/Y pots and ran them through the Teensy 2.0. I had a ton of jitter on the output at first, but I found some smoothing code on the arduino site that averages the analogReads which got rid of it. I also lost a bit of range at the extreme ends of travel. But the lack of sw deadzone is so great! Much more precision near the center. Here's the modified code I used: And the final results: Extra pics: I didn't bother with screwing in the connectors for either end, and just did a friction fit with heatshrink. Can't say I enjoyed soldering all those wires and connectors but it was well worth it. So nice to have that many buttons now. I also really didn't think an extension would make that much of a difference, but it's so much better for precision and immersion in centre stick planes. The length is perfect with the resistor motor boost mod. I have to turn down the shake in the Tomcat because it's far too violent at 100! Thanks debolestis for your work!
  12. For what it's worth, I've always seen Andre's 8-motor seat out of stock when I checked the page over the past year. Finally decided to buy one recently and it took just over 2 weeks to go out, (although the page says up to 6 weeks so YMMV).
  13. Can these used with an extension, say 10-12cm or would the force be attenuated too much?
  14. Yeah this. You paid for a warranty as part of your purchase price. Use it.
  15. Maybe an old F-22 pro or F-16 FLCS stick would work for this? I know they're the same basic shape, but not sure if the size is the same so that all the warthog internals would fit. edit: Just realized, the paddle would probably be an issue. Ah well.
  16. I personally like the halo more. It has to be worn very differently, more like a crown, but I find I have to do a lot less fiddling to get it in the right place once I got it adjusted than the CV1. Took some time to get used to it, though.
  17. Happens with my TWCS throttle too. It's particular to the Huey. Found this possible explanation: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2105411&postcount=5
  18. Not sure if this is the one he means, but it's not listed on the site and the one with 8 motors: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4000824&postcount=2433
  19. What kind of FFB effects are you expecting? I find the quality of the FFB implementation really varies with modules. If you have the F14 or Viggen try those. They both shake the stick pretty violently at high AoA, so that's a sure way to test. The effects in other modules can be a lot more subtle.
  20. I haven't delved into multiplayer yet, but my experience is acceptable. Wish it was better, but still very playable and looks pretty good. I do use Kegetys' VR mod. Settings: Specs are in my sig. I set PD depending on how resource heavy the module or map runs. Huey I can get away with 1.3-1.4, whereas on the Tomcat I have to drop it to 1.1-1.2. Same idea for Caucasus vs. Persian Gulf. Get 40fps most of the time. I mainly would like more headroom so I can get some less ugly shadows, a bit of AA and at least 1.5 PD. Might get a 2080 super if there are good deals around the holidays.
  21. Can you be more specific exactly which lines you are editing. Not immediately obvious to me.
  22. Oops, I see that now :) I think I might be able to answer your actual question though. I notice that OvGME works just fine if you have the folder structure directly and no zip file. So if someone uses the "Extract to \DCS VR Shaders performance mod 2.5.5.33174" option in their archive program to unzip into their mods folder, OvGME will pick it up the same as if it was in a zip.
  23. There has to be a top level directory, usually with the name of the mod, and the actual mod inside that directory. There should be nothing else in the zip other than that top level directory (no readme, for example). So for this VR mod, all you have to do is create a folder called "Kegetys VR Mod" or something like that, extract the mod in there, and zip up that folder. The structure should be "Kegetys VR Mod\Bazar\..."
