  1. my new gpu 2080rtx stopped working so i was forced to play on an old 1060oc gtx and i was extremly positive supprised how well it run on the monitor. ( but i think i turned off shadows. ) Long story short the game ran with +60fps ( non vr ) on 2560x1440 and 144mhz monitor. And i even tried pimax 5k+ VR and i could run it on low resolution with a little bit of motion lag but it was playable. computer ryzen 2700X ( I really like that cpu ) 8 cores 16 threats 3700mhz but it auto boost to 4500 most of the time. 16gb ddr4 2xm2 drives 1060gtx removed and new 2080rtx installed. I think your vega card should be good enough to run the game on a monitor with more than 60fps... since its like 50-70% faster than the 1060gtx card from nvidia. And actual i think your cpu also should be good enough for dcs. To me it sound a bit strange you have problems reaching 60fps in dcs, maybe try to reduce view distance to high, shadows to flat. Other than that your problem could be a heating problem with overheating cpu since then the speed of the cpu will be reduced to not overheat. OR it could be the driver for your graphics card maybe is not that well optimized for dcs.. ( but i dont know ). Maybe also check if your power settings on your computer are set to full power ( especially on a laptop ) And also be aware that some cpus now a days have build in Graphics card and its kind of a basic one.... try to check if you actual play dcs with your vega card and that it is not using an onboard graphics chip or something. Finaly it could be that you have setup your cpu wrong in BIOS and that it do not automatic BOOST so you hit the 4200mhz that your cpu is capable off. And in general a good cpu cooler/fan is a must.. the ones with a huge metallic radiator is the best and super quiet cost about 70-100usd.
  2. a suggestion. After many of the updates to the fa18 i had to load my saved control settings since they dissaper. Also at some point in the past they introduced custom joystick profiles so that peoples joysticks would work directly out of the box ( the most populare ones with the most primary things such as trigger and launch weapon ect ect ) Try to load your old saved settings for your joystick inside of dcs and see if that help. but i think your problems with the fa18 sound wird that your joystick work in the f14 but not in the f18. Technical speaking you could try to reset all controls for the f18c to default and press okay and restart the game and then try again.. ( i dont think an uninstall is enough since it store your joystick settings in maybe even try to delete all the joystick settings in this folder and then start dcs world and try again.. maybe old settings somehow are blocking something. ( maybe make a backup first ) C:\users\your-name\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input\FA-18C_hornet\joystick
  3. Yes the Jdam is a bit unprecise at the moment but its not that bad i had good experience hitting within 5-10m of everything i wanted to hit. If you use the mk83 ( big bomb ) this will kill anything no matter what.. But if you use the smaller jdam well then you properbly will not kill a tank, but if its more soft targets you will. ( you will however damage the tank and make it inmobile or make it less efficient due to damages to example optics and maybe crew, but this is not really a thing in dcs yet ) No matter what i would like like to be at the recieving end ;-) I would say in general JDAM's is mostly usefull against stationary targets such as bunkers, buildings at the moment. If you are going to hit vehicles then i recommend another weapon for the time being such as maveric, or laser lgb or you manual drop other type of bombs. If you use "auto mode" bombing such as CCRP and use ordinary bombs, then you will actual hit very precise with ordinary dumb bombs.
  4. I ran dcs world prefect on 2560x1440 with more than 60fps with a 1060 oc 3gb and was very positive surprised how well this card run anything. I was even able to run dcs world in VR with pimax 5k+ on low resolution. My old 1080gtx crushed anything and could play anything on ultra. And my new 2080rtx is even better especially for VR pimax 5k+ ryzen 2700x ( 8 cores 16 threats 3700mhz auto oc to 4600mhz ) 16gb ddr 4 ram. PS.. turning shadows off always is a good way to get more fps.
  5. JDAM caucasus coordinate problem Map caucasus F18c with 4 jdam ( any ) Problem waypoint from editor is not allowed on the jdam page. When i setup a test mission i put 4 waypoint on top of 4 tanks on the X shaped empty airfield N41.50.33 E41.47.50 ( something like that) BUT when i look at my HSI and data page of my waypoint 1-2-3-4 Then i can see the coordinate that the editor saved when i made my waypoint to look something like N41.50.89 The JDAM page do not accept ( 89, but only numbers below 60 i think ) So in that specific area at the airport and maybe other places, you cannot trust/read your waypoints and read the coordinates and directly enter them into the JDAM weapon page, you have to manual navigate to the F10 map view and write down the correct waypoint and then enter that into the JDAM page. Els the coordinate will not be correct. PS.. im not sure, but i once read something about the caucasus map coordinate are "merged" together on the map and that this in some situation when you navigate and read cordinates can have issues.... not sure if that is the problem of if i remember correctly.
  6. regarding fps and VR in dcs. wags wrote something about they improved fps in vr by 50% after they fixed something with the ground texture/terrain that was the main fps "killer" in dcs. I asume this new update for vr will be avaliable in 2 days from now ;-) ( i hope )
  7. My guess of what come in the near future 1). The Harm will be finished in the upcomming update 2). jdam 3). we will see a basic TGP pod ( from the a10c ) The TGP pod will be a fantasic tool to have, it make the hornet much better at A/G missions since now we can actual find the enemy on the ground. ;-) 4). maybe most of the SA / data link system will be implemented for data sharing of targets and sharing MARK points from the TGP. ( lets face it, its really helpfull to share a point on teh ground with your wingman... hey look here ;-) 5). maybe we soon ( within 2 month ) will see the first A/G radar mode.. however since the ground radar is rather complex and have many submodes and so on, then i would imagine we see an A/G radar that maybe "only" can show moving targets and not all the other radar modes to start with. And a A/G radar mode where we can slave the TGP to look at a radar target.
  8. I wonder a bit if the new carrier will be avaliable for everyone to land on but where people who pay for the module would have more detail, and though who did not at least can land and taxi arround like the carrier today. With other words 1 simple model for free and if you have the paied dlc then you get all the extra stuff. What do you guys think ?
  9. Hello Today i got the pimax 5k+ ( widescreen vr ) I notised when i use the VR zoom with 5k+ then it make my eyes look at my nose ( dont know the correct english word :megalol: ) but my eyes look inward and it become impossible to use the vr zoom function. I typical use the vr zoom to read the bottom MFD in the fa18C, and then ofcourse to spot enemys on the ground, wich is almost impossible in vr anyway but the zoom button is nice to have in vr no matter what. With the pimax 4k vr headset I did not have this problem at all and zoom worked perfect all the time. I like to suggest a little new feature. It would be nice if we in the control panel under UI layer, VR zoom could adjust the Max value of the zoom, and the speed of the zoom fuction. Example with the pimax 5k+ I would like to only zoom in example 50% when i press the zoom button. But with pimax 4k i like to zoom in 100%. PS... with the pimax 5k+ i can only use the vr zoom function if i close one eye and zoom in.. that is a bit annoying ;-)
  10. I think this screenshot fit very well into "todays" topic about planes :pilotfly:
  11. Hello Question. My 2080rtx stopped working af few days ago since the memory had become damaged due to heat and poor cooling.. Well i made an RMA and i expect to get a new card in 3-4-5 weeks as replacement. BUT Today i bought a 1060gtx as reserve so i at least can use my computer and play some games on low graphic settings the next weeks. My question..: All of my planes/maps ect. are the stand alone dcs world beta and locked to my account and the keys are still activated but "locked" to my 2080rtx card and hardware profile. Will it be wise of me to load dcs and play with my 1060gtx card and will i get hardware/key problems ?? Should i manual navigate to all planes/heli/maps and unbind the keys and register the keys again ? And IN 3-4-5 weeks from now i get a new 2080rtx and then again the hardware id of my computer will change.... will i have problems again with keys ? Should i avoid playing dcs and wait for my new hardware to arrive? Thank you for the answer in advance.
  12. Thank you very much ;-)

  18. I think all dcs pilots think of their plane as being a super bomber. But in reality when it come to the a10c that is slow and not a high level bomber then I find it kind of limited to dropping many jdams at once due to the slow speed and "limited" height. The faster your fly and the highter, the greater the distance your bombs can "fly" and hit targets. So regarding the a10 the targets need to be rather close together such as 3-4 buildings in a village in afghanistan before ground forces goes in to cleanup. I think its only in "rare" cases that the a10 have to drop example 2-3-4 jdams. Ofcourse it would be cool if you could preprogram every bomb and then drop everything with one press of a button. But the a10 pilot can rather easy change inbetween his target points and then cycle though them while pressing the release button .. he should be able to drop a jdam every 1-2 seconds that way and i guess that is good enough. But yes would be cool to be able to drop everything at once with "pre programmed" bombs".
  19. The map above with denmark, sweden and other countries would be a really interesting map due to the strategic importance of the big island on the map named "bornholm". I have been revealed that RUssia during the cold war planned to invade Bornholm and take it with an invation force of paratropers and bmp's ect.. and also would invade denmark from the south and south east. ( long story ) Els I think a map with Italy, kosovo, bosnia and balcan in general would be interesting due to the war there where nato fly from bases in italy and from carrier in the area. ( it was in that conflict the first stealth F117 was shot down by the way ) Just saying all planes in dcs fit well into this scenario.
  20. I am not aware of any fps problems with the hornet after the latest update. My game and the f18c run perfect. ( i dont own the f14 ) I would say its your game that maybe have become damaged Try to Repair DCS world. Alternativt maybe its the mission you are using with the f18 example a bad script in the mission can slow down the game allot.
  21. Hello After seeing the mirros in the F14 then I like to suggest that the F18c have the mirros redone. In the f14 you can in mirros see much or your plane and examle look if you have contrails via the mirror. In the f18 you pretty much cannot use the mirrors for anything. ( i like to add i only play in vr ) So my humble suggestion is that the mirrors will be adjusted so that the top mirror show our pilot + the top of the plane and that we maybe can see the engine if it contrail or not. And that the side mirrors are adjusted to give us a view of the wings. All in all i hope the mirrors will give us a better imertion and tactical view of what is going on behind our seat since today i never use the mirrors since its more or less impossible to see anything usefull in them. The f14 mirror in cocpit is excellent, hope we can get the same in F18c. ;-)
  22. TIp regarding chaff and flare in DCS f18c I did some study of how many chaff you need to "comfuse" an enemy sam missile ( radar guided missiles ) It seem that you need to drop minimum 5-6 chaff to have a good defensive effect. Example set your hornet to drop 2 chaff every 1 second, repeat 3 times. The same goes with flares defending against IR missiles.. drop example 3 flares in 1 second. The above will make your chances of survival much higher than if you just dump 1 flare or 1 chaff its rarely enough.
  23. My experience is that the harms work almost perfect... IN rare cases they find it hard to hit things elevated on a hill ( i asume its something to do with a specific sam model in the game but els mostly it hit ) In my experience the harm hit pretty much every time if they are not shot down. I always fire the harm from above 20.000ft and in general the higher the better. I fire in both TOO mode and SP mode and they hit very well most of the time. Regarding the IR maveric F, then yes they have some problems locking from far away.. I did not notise the distance or height but yes they can be a bit tricky. Its my impression that in the last few patches the lock became worse.
  24. I thought i add a little info. If i remember correctly then wags spoke about VR and performance in a recent podcast. Long story short, he spoke about that they want to optimize VR in dcs, and that they are aware that the terrain of dcs is a key area that really impact performance and that it need to be tweaked/updated to make dcs perform better. Personaly i use the pimax 4k, and when parked in the f18c quick mission where we start in the airport ready to go, then I have lower fps than when i get up to example 5000ft.. I find that a bit odd since I would asume it would be more easy for the computer to show things from ground view in airport where nothing is "moving" while me flying a 500knots at 5000 feet and looking out the window. Personaly though my pimax 4k and dcs have really good performance ( ryzen 2800x 8 cores 16 threats 16gb ddr 4 nvidia 2080rtx.. I had a 1080gtx before and it rand dcs good, but the 2080rtx have much more power and now dcs always run excellent in vr ).
  25. I think i can answer some of it.. Note..: In the video wags show how to turn on the D/L and he show the sa map page... However he forgot to say you also need to turn on the IFF system els what you see in the video will not work. The iff key is 3 buttons to the left of the D/L button that you turn on . He also do not mention clearly that there now are a new button in f18c named something with "depress" that you need to bind to a button on your joystick to mimic what he do in the video. ANyway regarding the video at 8:24 What wags do is that he press the "depress" button, and then it uses the IFF function to identify if its friend/foe.. The difference from 8:24 to how he do it later in the video is that when you are further than +25nm away you can "iff" and identify the other plane and see if its friend foe, however its is first when the plane come withing 25 miles that you will be able to identify it further .. example you can see if its a mig 29 or su27 ect if you fly towards it and radar beams hit the fans in the jet engine then you can identify the plane/model/type that way. The vertical line on the radar display at 13:44 show the distance of the wapon vs the radar contact.. Its like the Round circular "shoot" cue in the HUD display when you selected the aim120, but it just look different on the radar page. I hope this was of a little help ;-)
