  1. Old F-16 pilot with his F-16 pilot son agree the F-16 bleeds to much energy when turning, even in an A2A loadout. No worries, it is not hard to make it an option or even auto-detect the hardware and apply any configuration.
  2. If I follow the steps it still doesn‘t seem to use OpenComposite, because the image is still inverted. Before I forced it to use OpenComposite instead of SteamVR it worked, but the MT bin uses the ED OpenXR implementation with the inverted picture.
  3. For me the picture is upside down and vertical translated movements inverted. This issue is known on the developers side, but he says it’s some funky stuff on EDs implementation and is reluctant to do a fix.
  4. But radar range is not saved, so this is a bit moot
  5. Drives my point further across that even between GE and PW afterburners in real life look a lot more similar to each other than what we have in DCS. As you can see there are different photos with different lighting conditions and the afterburners look all different to the graphics that we get.
  6. Currently the afterburner texture is very underwhelming compared to for example the hornet. It hasn't changed since the inception of the EA viper: The flame in the real world is more yellow, black, blue and white: I've thrown together a quick collage. The real afterburner effect and texture in daylight looks more like this:

  8. Sounds worrisome. Would be great if anybody can confirm.
  9. Happens to regulariy. Using an absolute axis. Toggling to TWS and then back to RWS is a workaround, but it's cumbersome since you still have to press and then release TMS right, in order to switch from RWS -> TWS. So I'm pressing longer than needed. I believe there is a bug report already for this?
  10. He’s using valve index
  11. Yep, if there are two bandits in front and you put the ellipsis on the upper bandit, the lower bandit will be locked, even if the lower bandit is not inside the ellipsis at all! I can do it consistently on a dogfight server. Have no track, but this issue is apparent, as well as not being. able to lock any bandit looking down towards the ground.
  12. The JF-17 is able to sustain energy even better than the adjusted FM for the viper. No talking about AI. Fly the Quick Start JF-17 CAC mission. That pits you against a ACE M2000 AI. With the JF I can eventually get behind its back. When I open the mission in the editor and replace the player craft with F-16, and fight against the same Mirage, I get shot down so fast and so often, it's not even funny. The Mirage AI FM is a real UFO FM. But, that shows that the F-16 is not able to sustain energy as well as the JF-17.
  13. Maybe it's more that the heart does not need to pump so hard, because the brain is located in a lower location in a reclined seat. Combined with the lifted legs it is very plausible that it helps against GLOCs. Also I would think the engineers did enough research to confirm the advantages of the reclined seat.
  14. Will he withstand more gs with the reclined seat in DCS?
  15. Will the effectiveness of the new flares eventually be fixed? Any news about that?
  16. Inside a hornets turn radius? In a viper? Also you’ll be bingo by the time you’re in the control zone if you achieve anything at all.
  17. Even Tricia Helfer, a tall thin blonde actress, who never sat in a fighter jet before is able to withstand 9.4g without problems:
  18. So the main criticism depicted in the Mover vs Gonky dogfighting video is about the viper's energy loss in a turn. Mover as well as Gonky are pretty clear on this. So it's not about g-onset, ITR or STR, which can be modelled more or less accurately using the E-M diagrams. Does ED have sufficient data for the parasitic/induced drag for the viper? It does seem there is a grey area. Also, one credible anecdote can be dismissed. But not multiple anecdotes by professionals, real viper drivers. Including Mover's blk50 buddies, who allegedly claim that even the blk50 wouldn't be as draggy as the current DCS Viper. I don't think the public E-M diagrams speak the whole truth, and is there anybody who verified those against the real aircraft?
  19. He just told you.
  20. Custom liveries for the F-16 in the main game folder breaks IC. Custom liveries for all other modules in the main game folder pass.
  21. Hopped on a dogfight server and did some ACM and BFM. Against the hornet I had no chance. He was laughing while we were in a perpetual rate war and I could never get my nose on him. Even going vertical I had no chance. Just halfway pulling the stick still bleeds too much energy. I lost every match. Jumping into an JF-17 instead evened the odds. On a different session, fighting with 4 amraams and 2 9x at 13k ft felt like turning like an airliner again. Is the store drag accurate?
  22. It's been a rather high priority for two years now
  23. Dogfights are not artificial 2 circle fights at 10.000ft. Any opponent will just low yo-yo and shoot out of the sky while you perfectly maintain your turn rate at altitude.
  24. Placebo, probably. I never had problems with the aerobrake or with actual control, despite the bad axis gains with no FSSB.
  25. Turn rate, energy bleed, onset and AOA
