  1. Is there a way to turn off the cockpit labels that appear whenever you hover the mouse over a button or switch? I don't mind it so much down on the consoles, but it's super annoying when trying to type in the UFC or something. Everytime I move the mouse cursor over a number when typing in a radio freq or Lat/Long - the label pops up and obscures everything. Same thing on the MFD's. I don't really need the label that says OSB 9 when I over over the button to push something.
  2. Yes, well done ED. To those of you in the hard hit EU countries, stay safe and good luck!
  3. This whining just proves you can't please all the people all of the time. This happens everyday in every other aspect of commercial sales. You can buy something at full price if you want it right now or you can wait until it goes on sale. How long that wait is is the gamble. Companies specifically don't advertise sales a long time in advance because then no one would buy anything until then. If Intel or Nvidia said their new super chip would be on sale at 70% off in 6 months, who would buy it now at full price? Of course most would wait until the sale happened. Companies can't run that way. You pays your money and you takes your chances. Welcome to the real world, snowflake.
  4. Sorry, double post
  5. Very Well done ED! Thanks.
  6. Ok, so here is my "ghetto" solution to the eye relief problem. I used some very thin strips of 3/8" weather striping around the eye pieces to push the face pad out further. Its not elegant, but it works.
  7. I think that is already happening....
  8. Quick question...... has anyone removed their earpieces completely from the reverb? I am using some awesome Bose earbuds that plug into the headset jack and the built in earpieces are no longer required since the sound quality from the reverb earphones was very poor. I'm currently just flipping them up to stay out of the way, but wondered if there was a way to remove them. I see there is a screw off piece that holds them to the frame, but does the little wire inside quick disconnect or do you have to cut it?
  9. I have a 6 month old Vive Pro full kit with hand controllers and 2x base stations (that smell new), if anyone is interested? I just got my replacement Reverb, so the Vive is just sitting in the original box waiting for me to get off my lazy @ss and advertise it on Craig's list or Ebay.
  10. Where does it show 60hz vs 90 hz when its gone to 60Hz? Is it in Steam settings, or do you have to see it in something VrFPS?
  11. Interesting.... I had zero issues installing and getting WMR and the Reverb to work PnP. And I'm about as far from a computer nerd as they come. I do agree the cable is heavy. However, my fix is to ziptie the cable to the back headrest of my dedicated gaming chair so that there is enough slack to move your head around without pulling it, but the cable being anchored to the headrest took all the weight off of it. I don't even notice its there now. I did this when I had the Vive as well because of the cable weight, so this is not unique to the reverb. It is a bit heavier, but still has the same issues.
  12. That can of worms has already been opened.... https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=266226 I for one think it's a great idea.
  13. THIS^^. Some people are SO overreacting to the suggestion of a sale. I get that nerves are on edge and the world has gone to Sh*t is many places. But a legitimate and valid way for people to deal with crises like this is to use humor. Calling it "disgusting" completely misses the point. Given that there are actual companies out there price gouging on critical items and clearly taking advantage of the situation for pure greed, putting out a suggestion that a company offer a DISCOUNT to possibly bring a bit of joy to folks stuck inside is certainly nowhere near the threshold of "disgusting". Its not even in the same universe, much less ballpark as what is actually going on out there. My suggestion for some of you humor challenged individuals is to go find a pair of needle nose pliers and attempt to extract the panties from your person that are clearly bunched into a ginourmous wad. Just saying.
  14. Thanks BN. I just found out all at my work have been told to stay home UFN, so I for one will be playing a lot of DCS. I still maintain that a Coronavirus sale will be not only good for the users of DCS and ED, but be an invaluable way for many to get through these difficult times by giving us something to occupy the time and keep us indoors. I don't in any way see this as capitalizing on a crisis, but rather performing a valuable service to your customers at a reasonable price. To me that is the best PR possible for a company.
  15. Concur
  16. Even more than that, the pod that is doing the searching has to have the laser in the FOV for it to track and lock on to the Laser. So the two jets need to coordinate the target coordinates so they can get both pods looking in the same area. The LST then refines the spot to a precise point.
  17. Close the air refueling door. Seriously, I had the same issue and it turned out to be the AAR door was open and it would suddenly PIO around 350-400kts.
  18. Anyone..... Bueller??
  19. Stirring the pot award....
  20. Ding, ding, ding! Political correctness sucks goat's @ss. What a bunch of snowflakes.
  21. One caveat I forgot to add this bullet point is that once the bomb is off the jet..... slow down a bit. You want as much speed (up to carriage/release limits) to give the bomb the max energy to help overcome the shortcomings of the PWII bang bang guidance. But once the bomb is on the way, stand the throttles up and slow down to something like around best corner speed (400-450T). This slows down the rate of closure to the target and helps preserve standoff distance. This is especially critical if dealing with a podium effect problem. You don't want to get too slow however in the event there are threats and you need to maneuver to evade a missile someone might pop at you at a bad time.
  22. Correct. PWII on movers is as much art as science and is one of the toughest attacks with that weapon you can conceive of. AS you said, the key is to set the designation point well ahead of the target, one TOF (~30-40 sec) ahead of the mover. How to gauge how far that is the key. If you have a good measuring stick in the TGP (which DCS doesn't have), you can get pretty close. Otherwise you have to figure out how big your screen is side to side at the slant range you're looking at. There are formulas and trig to figure that out. But I would have to take my shoes off to count that high. ;) Head on attacks are the best for weapon energy, but as you said - if you tube up the designation point, the GBU might not ever see the laser spot if the target is closer to the designation point that you expected at release. Tail on attacks are likely the worst plan for bomb energy. Beam attacks are viable but again, there is an energy issue as the bomb is going to be going pure on the target and depleting energy. The final key to a successful mover attack is leading the target by the correct amount. It's all about target speed. A good ROT is to lead a 20mph mover by roughly 1 vehicle length, maybe a smidge less. 10mph = half a length. Anything over 20mph is likely never going to hit anyway. That's why point track can't work, because you need to have the crosshairs out in front of the vehicle. Also, because of the uncertainty of the designation point and the fact that the target is moving - Continuous lase from release to impact is prefered over delay lasing. Yes, you're using more energy, but you have a much higher likelihood of the bomb never seeing the spot if you delay lase - 100% ensuring a miss.
  23. Yes, exactly. 3-4 G initial hard turn to achieve a 45-60 deg heading change and then roll out wings level. That achieves the best compromise of standoff, masking issues and providing a stable platform to be able to guide the weapon in the terminal phase. It also is ideal for solving any podium issues because you stay further away from the TGT. I am not a big fan of maintaining a constant AOB during the TOF. It works, but it creates a much higher workload for the pilot and makes the job of tracking the target much more difficult since the pod angles and changes much more rapidly and the X-Y axes are changing as well if you're making small corrections while maintaining a bank angle.
  24. Yep, the smaller, more choreographed and realistic MP stuff is what I'm looking for.
  25. I don't really see anything in poor taste. Given that a lot of people are going to be homebound as the world economy grinds to a halt - I think offering a discount to loyal ED customers to be able to buy a module on sale is actually a good gesture. Now if they jacked the prices to take advantage of the crisis - that would be in poor taste. Offering a discount or a sale is just the opposite. Its not like the stuff isn't currently on sale during the coronavirus crisis right now. ED, I say go for it. I think its a good move for the community.
