  1. THIS! absolutely. I just feel that why bother putting the effort in to bring this beautiful terrain with the detail of the airbases and the shrubbery and foliage only for the very basic LOD configuration to let it down entirely. If you fly low level in Syria at around sunrise near the mountains you notice huge square shadows popping in and out where it is rendering a bush' shadow as a HUGE block until you pass within the LOD range and it shrinks down to practically no shadow as it should be. It's a minor detail but at the same time has a huge imapct on immersion and overall wow factor. I love simulation as much as the next DCS fan but hey, if we didn't care about graphics there are other far less expensive ways to enjoy the hobby without DCS...
  2. Hopefully clear from the images what i mean... If you look at the shadows from the posts the "LOD line" is just feet from the aircraft and to me is now excessively limited.
  3. Dear ED, With respect, it seems that in order to counter the performance issues in DCS of late that you have further limited the draw distance within the sim. To the point where it is now almost unbearable to taxi around my new found Syrian airbases due to shadows popping in and out all over the place and so on and so forth. Could you give a loose idea of how/roughly when this will be looked at or indeed whether it shall be looked at, at all? It is visible from any altitude though most noticeable the closer to the ground you are and is something that the community have been upset about for some time. I do not believe that holding out for Vulkan/Vulcan will solve this issue as it will most likely revert textures to blurs if performance is impeached, as can be experienced in other sims which have gone down this route. This is something which needs to be addressed and from what i gather from other games and sims is something that if done well can actually save a whole lot of processing power for other areas. I know to the people developing this side of the sim this will most likely be a  facepalm moment as I do not possess the experience or knowledge to lecture on this subject. The lighting is looking grand, the new map tech is coming along very nicely, the bugs are being squashed slowly but surely and the other less obvious tweaks are awesome too (missiles etc.) BUT there is STILL this GLARING omission in that we have to contend with our imaginations to block out the hideous site of the *insert correct phraseology here* "LOD line" :( Please advise as best you can Much Love FlyB :smilewink:
  4. Not sure if exclusive to L39 but noticed that when i am farther away from the jet in external view i can see the damage but it disappears as i zoom in. See pics.
  5. Clouds look awesome ED. I don't generally condone the sense of urgency surrounding new feature/module releases which can rush them into being laden with bugs but in this case i say... "ALL ABOARD!!!!!!!!"
  6. Thanks, i am saving for a 1/2 TB M.2 drive tbh. Have a 500gb SSD and 1TB HDD both pretty rammed
  7. I get the feeling that i should have done this instead of deleting the folder as now I will have to re-install the terrain just to remove it...
  8. Hi folks, I have run out of space for all my dcs products and so have had to temporarily remove Nevada from my hard drive. However, whenever i try to update dcs it starts re-installing nevada. When i go to module manager i can't see a way of disabling nevada as it is not installed so does not show in the list. Any ideas how to tell dcs to stop downloading this terrain? thanks
  9. Trees inside stadium
  10. Have attached images showing small issue where the town meets the hills. There are sharp ridges and ground textures with no buildings on top. F10 map shows location Loving it though, really something else
  11. DCS:BONNIE SCOTLAND would be better x100 :music_whistling:
  12. Run SSAA x2 and MSAA x2 in game. You will struggle to find flickering. Better still, add Bokeh DoF to the mix and external views look amazing. If your rig can't handle all of that then the problem isn't strictly the sim though it does need optimizing again
  13. I believe the "RIO"'s job is mainly heads down outwith a dogfight. The "Pilot" is in charge f flying the aircraft :)
  14. DCS accepts NVidia MSAA. Period. Setting MSAA in game to x2 and then selecting enhance application and x2/x4 gives a completely different result at the cost of FPS. I prefer to use SSAA but it is down the pan at the moment due to performance being so low in comparison to how it was when 2.5.6 first launched to OB. Currently i am running 1440p with MSAAx4 in game and enhanced mode at x4 from NV and it gives a decent result but it's just not popping like x2 SSAA that i was used to previously :(
  15. Save that to a word doc you could be copy pasting it for a while knowing these forums :noexpression:
  16. I believe the mirrors in the F14 are mainly there to keep an eye on the wings/flaps state. May have read it in chuck's guide or somewhere? Can't really remember but i didn't make it up it's definitely somewhere
  17. Yes! but their is a large discrepancy between no love and "not as much love"...:)
  18. Fair point but it's their product now so they should be doing ALOT more to keep it up to standards. It's something that applies across the board with the modules to be honest but something i hope will become a thing of the past with the new update strategy they have employed.
  19. I don't want to/shouldn't have to delete/edit anything. I just don't think they should be spamming the same contact repeatedly. Thanks
  20. Can you bind the commands radar on/off to a key? That would help
  21.:thumbup: I get that, i played about with the jet noise thing but it slowed down the tempo too much to be honest. It's difficult to find the right track to do this with. I did consider some dubstep at one point to be fair! Subscribe to my channel as there will be more coming once Syria is out the box
  22. If you have the latest Open Beta then you have the latest stable as it were... Just don't update when the next OB patch comes out and you will effectively still be on the stable release. No?:)
  23. They could use some work to define them better but i would say overall they are pretty accurate The thing that i am not certain on is that in the video still below, the grass area to the right of the monument which matt is flying over is not meant to be a grass area as per the attached image... Hmm, maybe based on a certain historic date in which the building (theatre area? who knows?) was not there? Would be nice to have verified what date the map is based on actually
