+1 to that. New features brings new "lack of features". The copilot "view zoom" level also could need some adjusting, or ad a "binocular".

I think we can close this thread now.

To bee clear I do not have a problem with how loud the starter is. However I didn't think the plane in your video (wich sounds just like in game:thumbup:) actually had a inertia starter, but I'm obviously not an expert on this subject. So as a counterargument I I found this clip, at 2:28 I think he starts spinning the flywheel (energizing?) And about 15seconds latet engages it.?
-
Fair enough and thanks for answering:thumbup: Idon't want to criticize your guys work but it do bother me a little:) I guess many P47s have different starters nowadays but on the only 47 electric inertia starter I'v heard, the motor and flywheel slowly speeds up for about 10-15s? In my game and headphones it sound more like a sound loop that repeats every 2s and after 5s there is a low "huumm" sound (flywheel?) and after more then 15s it starts "cutting off" every 5s. Ok I will stop "complaining" now but my wish-list still stands:D.

So this is really small and most people wont notice it, but maybe your sound guy/girl needs something to do, after a shutdown (or crash landing) I love the turbine spooling down and you can even hear the clock ticking  buuuuuut maybe add a that "clicking/crackling" sound from when the engine cools down? It felt really anticlimactic after crash landing with a severely damaged plane, just making it down alive sliding down the runway sideways and all you hear is a ticking clock..... Maybe you could hear fuel leaking out or a leak in the air tank as well? And talking of engine shutdown there is a short "BRUUURRHHrrRrrr...." sound that is played on top of the sound from the cylinders just before the engine stops, its feels to loud/abrupt in my setup:music_whistling: and the inertia starer also sound weird, like a short sound loop just repeating itself instead of the sloooowly increasing pitch/gear grinding I would expect from it.... so :imho: tweak those sound design a little.:prop: Anyway LOVE the P47 and the new DM even makes getting back to base interesting.

Yes, I love it, although the AI pilots seems to have found that the best way to glide home without an engine is upside down... continued flying like this for 20+ minutes.
-
Yea I have the same problem, was waiting for someone to report it. Not that I notice it when flying but...
-
Yea, it works just fine with a simple joystick. However if they change/update engine damage model it might get a bit tricky. If I understand it correctly overboosting and turbo overspeeding, engine temp, oil and inlet temperature can all lead to failure. Together with water injection, gun sight ranging and targeg size there is alot of stuff to manage. :-[

Yea noticed it now, wonder where that texture has gone of to now...
-
Just tried this out and they fire just fine for me, I'm no expert but it seems that in the -40 you fire them with the regular "bomb release" switch after setting the switches on the lower left panel to "READY" and "rockets", lower center on "single". Bombs have to be armed with the handles to your back left floor as well as the switches... I think

P47 Electric constant speed vs. prop pitch lever
Rover replied to fiendlittlewing's topic in DCS: P-47 Thunderbolt
You can actually see the prop blades change angle if you use the switch in manual mode, after engine shutdown for example or after a engine seizure in flight. Guess you can use it for "feathering the prop"? Edit: After some testing it might actually be modeled, I get a little further in a glide (lots of variables I know) and in my very "scientific" test where I'm standing still, engine off, on a runway with a 30m/s headwind she gets pushed back more without it "feathered"... XD -
Yes, It's unplayable for me at the moment, but my PC isn't the hottest so can't really complain. Maybe I have a ram shortage.
-
Oooh shit your right, I didn't use it like a incremental setting, since it just say "Upp/Down". Yea holding it down gives it a red color. Thanks! Now I feel stupid...
-
Yes, using RAlt+RCtrl+F "Radar Night Filter" keybinding. Without it the radar is way to bright but it sure ain't red. :-[
-
I was thinking I would share a screenshot to show how it looks for me when I noticed that image brightness actually differs enough just between my two monitors that I can't see some of the ground lights and the taxi light on my IPS monitor but not on my older one. :/ So it might look VERY different or you. Second image is almost pitch black on one monitor and very usable on my main. This is me at night in Oktober 0100 Caucasus, NOTE like I said you have to both turn radar brightness to zero AND activate radar filter! What you guys think?
-
Yea, have I missed something? Don't be so pessimistic, see it as a challenge, like orienteering in pitch black darkness holding a glowstick 10cm of the ground just to see where the road ends. ???? Ok so from this conversation I guess we can all agree that everyone's monitor/game settings and environment is different AND that many of the light's in DCS needs a rework! Hueys search light has been almost useless since DCS 2.0 FOR ME, even the recently released P47 landing light is that bad. Dammit now Im complaining too.
-
Yea you (I) need to turn on night filter AND adjust radar brightness to lowest. Also make sure your monitor and windows brightness and gamma settings are correct, you can do a calibration in windows. Then adjust gamma in game. The taxi light is very dimmed after EDs light updates compared to earlier (worse then huey), CK digits and autopilot lights are to bright/white but for me with my settings and my IPS monitor it works just fine and is very beautiful at night.
-
I also had this problem so I did windows "color calibration". Had to turn down brightness both in windows and on the monitor. Then adjusted gamma in game and now it's OK. Individual modules still have problems but in general the game is usable again.

Latest update:"Tweaked engine behavior at medium altitude.".... thanks for being so specific Heatblur :D

Please update me on the status of the huey please.
Rover replied to BlacleyCole's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Miniguns no longer kill tanks and heavy APC's (good but makes it less effective on generic PVE servers). Also miniguns "basically" can't kill an AI helicopter and some other units for some reason.... New bullet impact effects looks really good on buildings aircraft. Still to much splash on dirt for my taste. -
With the frequency ED is doing changes/upgrades it feels like developers have to spend half their time just fixing things that's already implemented. Rockets where great but then ED "fixed" something with the atmospheric and now they miss. Lighting was amazing but then ED changes it, yes it looks better in the "world" but it breaks it in the modules so the developers have to redo it. So as long as DCS is evolving the modules will have to do the same so it's never really going to go out of early access. At least thats my view.
-
Yea, I also started with high curves, 25% on all but the "rudder" and trimming a lot, gives really fine control for hovering. Then as I got more practice I started to incrementally lower the curves. Now Im at 15% with an old saitec cyborg evo desktop stick.

You can always pretend they are dug in.....a really deep foxhole....;-)

Wow Thanks :-)
