fixed 2.8.1 still has serious issues with terrain objects shadows
Gripen 4-1 replied to some1's topic in Game Performance Bugs
My guess too - If you use ASW /Motion Reprojection you will never notice the performance loss -

Bin absolut deiner Meinung! Aim-7 verbugt und spielt am HUD verrückt.

With the rollout of 2.8.1 is this bug now also in the stable branch, or was it fixed? I mean guys, this is absolutely irritating and for me A/A combat is messed up with this bug.

investigating Large performance drop in VR after updating to 2.8
Gripen 4-1 replied to some1's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Maybe, but can't you understand the VR users, who throw a lot of money in for enthusiast Hardware, and loose performance with every major update. Many others and I have a massive performance loss since 2.8 on the CPU side. Is it a bug? Maybe, maybe not..... For me it feels like a bug, if I have a massive performance loss after an update. I don't want to insult you or the team, but please also try to understand the VR community. For us it is sometimes very disappointing, if the game was smooth before the update and is not smooth anymore afterwards. And despite it 2.8.1 is pushed to stable too fast. -
investigating Large performance drop in VR after updating to 2.8
Gripen 4-1 replied to some1's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Yep, as a VR User I am pi**** off now! Where is the promised "performance increase"? Where is multithreading? FPS and frametimes are decreasing and decrasing..........with top tier hardware. Really slowly loosing my motivation for DCS -
investigating Large performance drop in VR after updating to 2.8
Gripen 4-1 replied to some1's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I hear this since 4 years, 3 graphic cards and 3 CPU's............ Guess what it never got its promised performance patch. I do not believe in this promises anymore, I only believe when and what I see it in the Sim - and at the moment I see an up to 4ms CPU frametime increase, which means a big performance loss -
What happened to VR Performance in the Persian Gulf?
Gripen 4-1 replied to dburne's topic in Virtual Reality
2.8.1 happened with new lightening and dynamic weather........ CPU frametimes are up to 4 ms higher now, performance loss is noticeable even with top tier hardware. The whole journey goes in the wrong direction! If this goes to stable branch, we (VR users) are sold......... Read more here: -
investigating Large performance drop in VR after updating to 2.8

But this is only a temporary solution! The will roll out 2.8.1 to the stable version and then we have a problem! I simply do not understand their order of developments anymore! Dynamic weather, new lightening......great, but do we really need it if performance suffers like with 2.8.1 I don't need it, if it is a massive performance tradeoff! The main problem is the core and until this is fixed, the problem persists. I am tired of throwing every new CPU and GPU at DCS to keep it smooth. The aliasing problem of the new clouds persists since they introduced it. If you look far away on the horizon they look ugly even @ high settings. Not fixed since when? Over 1 and a half year? Performance is degrading since 2.5 and still no sign of the promised 50% VR performance improvement. It's all about the order of developements and honesty towards the community. As I said: Since 2019 they are promissing VR performance improvements - I have not seen any until now. The opposite is the case; with every major update I loose FPS on the same settings. I mean if ED would tell us, that they need money to fix the engine problems, I am sure there are enough people in the community willing to donate some money rather than buying an new GPU/ CPU every generation. -
investigating Large performance drop in VR after updating to 2.8
Gripen 4-1 replied to some1's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I think people are not ranting about "eyecandy" they are ranting about the priority ED has for some developements or in which order ED rolls them out. I mean the logical order would be: 1) increase performance of the core /modify the engine 2) then "eyecandy" like the clouds 3) and in the end such features like dynamic weather -

The 4090 is perfect - I would buy it again. The problem are the CPU frametimes since the jump to 2.8 -
investigating Framerate decreasing up to 16% with 2.8.0
Gripen 4-1 replied to Limaro's topic in Game Performance Bugs
I just tested and have to agree that there is a massive performance impact in VR especially the CPU frametimes suffer: F18 caucasus ready on the ramp: 2.7.18: CPU 12-14ms 2.8.1 CPU 14-18 ms and this on my machine 5900x / 4090. Just switched back to stable. It was smooth and also looks good. The whole mess began with 2.8 and dynamic weather. Where does the up to 4 ms CPU frametime hit come. I don't think, that just some have a performance loss in VR, I think that only some check their frametimes and only this folks are crying out loud now. The others who don't measure the frametimes are quiet There is a massive loss of FPS on same settings, and this does not make me happy ED! Insert an optional button for dynamic weather or do something to bring back some FPS. There is a promise to bring a VR performance increase since 4 years, but it never hit the ground. This is very frustrating! I mean a 4090 and a 5900X should be fine to play 45 FPS under all circumstances. You read right, i don't even demand 90 FPS, I am fine with smooth 45 under all circumstances. But not even this is possible. Example: Sedlos Eastern Friendship under 2.7: smooth under 2.8.1: stuttering in the ground attack in the first mission Do you recognize something? Smooth under 2.7 - not smooth under 2.8.1. Something is messed up in 2.8.1!!!!!- 31 replies

The ASE Dot for the 120's and 7's is still moving arround in the HUD like crazy. This bug is not solved since 6 weeks allthough it should be high priority! I know it is already reported, but come on guys this bug can not be unsolved that long! For my part this makes Air to Air combat really difficult, if not impossible. Still try to get that stupid dot into the circle to get a "Shoot" indicator light, but I can't.
-
It should be high priority to fix this, it is a really annoying bug!
-
Okay, it happens with Aim-7 as well. Here are tracks. Sometimes the cue jumps arround more. But I barely can get a "shoot" because I don't get a valid fire solution. 7's.trk 120.trk

Is there anything wrong with the 120's? The steering cue dot is jumping arround on the F-18 HUD like crazy and I barely can get it in the ASE circle. This is in TWS ans STT mode. Very strange behavior. Any ideas? @Маэстро any ideas?

But I agree with you. I think the F-5 Tiger has a similar gun layout. There is a F-5 thread
