  1. Bump....any chance that we can get back these new water effects as an ultra option? DCS 1.2.2 says improved water effects, but that has been effectively removed in the newer patches.
  2. haha yeah! BTW...do u guys see and realize how much better the hinds FM is than the landing model in FC3 for flyables? :p Man! I hope this is what the new landing and ground handling dynamics that should be extended to the flyable aircraft of FC3. I hope its in the final release.
  3. oh? You completely removed reflections? Well..I think it looked cool..but well...I still can't wait to try these out and make some new skins myself. Been years since I last made a lock on skin. I still can't believe that AD salaveskya skin that I made is still added into the game. :) I remember sending ED the psd file with like 50 layers or something. ;p
  4. Really glad to hear about a new engine Matt. I think its about time for an upgrade. I am sure you guys will.....but I think you guys should take as much time as needed to make a great engine. Its the backbone of this whole ecosystem and needs to be smart and scalable. I think tech has progressed a lot since the Lock On age and maybe its nice to re-assess the code and perhaps even consider looking at a few other engines like frostbite 2, unreal, cryengine etc for ideas to see how they efficiently process their workflow.
  5. Well...its an issue of realism. There are no tracers for the GAU8 cannon IRL...so I personally am glad to see them gone..but IIRC u can get tracers for training rounds. I must say though...I saw the ricocheting bullets in a video the other day and damn...I think i miss some of that ricochet effect from FC2. But I think we all know that it was a bit too much in FC2. There was no feedback of the cannon hit...almost felt like the tank was invulnerable. I love the current DCS world effect when rounds hit the tank....a lot more natural feeling.
  6. I preordered it and already finished the first 3 or 4 sequences. Its not bad. I do hate that the end part (main hit) is sometimes cinematics. But well...the creativity is still there.

  8. Amazing HungaroJet....can u implement this in Tomcatz amazing new CVN and Kuz models? :) Would be nice to get a model and a lighting upgrade. :)
  9. Yeah! The Su25 and 25T are different planes...but they are similar in that they both have a dynamic FM. What surprised me is the A-10C FM is probably exactly the same as the A-10A, so I don't understand why we didn't get the same FM for A-10A. But anyways.... I know thats a different issue...at this point, the most annoying and disappointing thing in FC3 is the landing model. I think we all were very happy when it was announced that the landing model will be improved. I hope this advanced ground handling is really implemented in the final release.
  10. In the older method...well even the current method...lines and rivets are painted on the skin. When this is done with a second line/rivet displaced/offset by a pixel or so, it gives the illusion of a 3d rivet/line. Now in DCS world with A-10C/A and F-15, ED introduced specular mapping which allows you you give a better depth to the line by defining it in an alpha channel or something. Even now you would still paint it on the skin, but a bit lighter shade and the 3d effect would be obtained by the specular map. Bottom line, you can make new skins with lighter lines/rivets and that should address the issue.

  13. The panel lines being dark is because of the skin. That layer needs to be tweaked. We have gotten spoilt by the specular mapping in newer models. Hungarojet, I can help edit some skins if u need an extra hand. :)

  15. Tomcatz or hungarojet, can we also get this model updated for DCS FC3? :p Looks like in a different league compared to the current model.
  16. Well... Even EDs promo itself shows that they know how disjointed FC3 is. Lock on has always been that way from the beginning: different caliber of models which make the differences apparent. Even they choose to promote the shiny cover model, but not the other ordinary dated models. Anyways I realize that modders will take care of the external model, just hope that ED will give the final lock on release a very well dedicated push and incorporate the advanced ground dynamics and 3d cockpits in due time. It's such a immersion killer when u see landing in these videos. Heck, I was hoping that in their promo, perhaps they would show off the advanced landings/takeoff. I realize that chopper AI and dynamics were only updated in BS2, but at this point, non flyable choppers have better landing dynamics than player aircraft. Regd... 3d cockpits, not much more needs to be said on the difference it makes. Hope ED can take the time to slowly update the other cockpits.
  17. Yup! Warthog...no comparison. I upgraded from the X45 to a T16000M and then a warthog. Uncomparable really. I even tried a X52 in store. Better than the X45...but warthog... is just something else.
  18. Hi guys, Just tried a sample mission with CBU under 0 wind conditions and figured out that my problem was with the wind. Under windy conditions, the CBU do not hit the target and there is no accurate way to consider wind in FC3's A-10A. ANyways...I was trying to blow up a T-90 with a GBU 110 lb JDAM...and look at this. Spot on....and the tank stilll lived and just a fizz on the surface. (Notice the small "bullet ricochet" effect...that is where the GBU hit....see the orange yellow dot at the base of the turret?? Anyone ever had this problem? It seems like a one time thing. Wanted to know any other weird happenings like this. V
  19. I can absolutely never ever get old with CBU 97 animation. Totally fantastic. Absolutely fantastic animation and wonderful smoke/special fx.
