  1. I think Nevada is a smaller terrain mesh just as a good training ground. But... as ED said, they are actively working on other maps as well...the hold up is basically EDGE.
  2. Thats true. Its logical to add a 6dof cockpit to the Su-25T which is a free aircraft. Its a great way to demo the quality of DCS world modules. There is a reason why great game demos showcase some intense action-based moments (ex: God of war demos).... Its a direct indication of quality of the rest of the product and its payware.
  3. It is indeed a shame though that the Mig 29's and Su 33 won't be updated with these amazing cockpits. Damn!! This is truly turning to a next gen flaming cliffs
  4. Definitely is a positive sign. I was just thinking of this a few days ago. Glad to see Nvidia's monopoly coming down. Nvidia cards are good, but they are expensive compared to AMD.Competition is always good.
  5. Woah! That afterburner looks awesome. Can each jet have its own colour for the afterburner? Also were u at slow speed when u turned it on or did u mod the files to enable heat blur at any speed? That would be awsome. Would be nice to get this ...
  6. I have done that instant mission many many times and never had this issue. Perhaps you are hitting a friendly by mistake.
  7. yeah! its the shame that they were removed. They should have left them in as an ultra option for the water setting.
  8. damn! this thing looks good
  9. Sobek...check this out: http://www.geomerics.com/ a game lighting technology. Would be pretty cool if these dynamic lights could be properly implemented in DCS.
  10. Problem is in licensing such tech. Mainstream games have million dollar budgets and they can afford all the fancy tech. But a dev like ED needs to pay atleast a few thousands of dollars for tech from Autodesk which could be their entire profit margin. Of course I don't know any numbers, but I do know the customer base for ED sims isn't as huge as say Witcher 2, Batman Arkham city etc etc. I think ED's menu system is amazing as it is. Very clean and functional. Although I would love a search function in the control settings.
  11. I must say though..you are right..I would take advanced FM for all FC3 aircraft....especially more realistic dynamic landing/take off for all aircraft than special fx. For sure you are right with that. ;) But I must say...a bit excited about EDGE. When lock on came out...it was so ahead of its time in graphics for a jet sim. I wonder how EDGE will look when it finally hits public.
  12. I had a recent A-10C mission (quick mission) where I asked the AI to attack infantry at my spi with gun. But once I went over the waypoint, it switched to the next and he got confused...then I re-commanded him...and he kept going straight ignoring all commands. Then after a while...he said heading back to base. I asked him to come back...he kept going straight and just rammed into a mountain.
  13. I agree DCS has a pretty good physics system in place. Or else we wouldn't have the amazing FM that we already have. But I think the other aspects/graphical fidelity, special FX and so on are lacking. And rightfully so, the focus is on the simulation aspect. The prospect of using third party systems allows you to alleviate the burden of doing everything from scratch in-house. But hey, having no experience with coding at all, I don't know if it will be any less effort using these existing APIs....but it might help. Perhaps even open the devs to some new perspectives on how to code/model these other aspects of DCS efficiently. Sometimes its great to break everything down and re-analyze your own work and compare it to other game engines to figure out how to improve it to the next level. Either way, I think the multi-threading is a great approach. That should definitely help a lot. One step at a time and maybe after that, the devs can push further in the graphical "effects" department.
  14. love the new missile flame. The smoke still needs improvement.
  15. So is F4's campaign truly dynamic? or is it scripted? I do plead ignorance on that as I never played F4 long enough. But it gathers all the praise as a perfect DC.
  16. Yeah... Considering edge is going to be the umbrella renderer for terrain and everything else...why not leave the simulation/physics core on first thread as before and focus the newer development on the next cores/threads. Atlesst this way the rest of the stuff is taken over by others and the process becomes efficient. Its not too early to restrict dcs to a dual/quad core processor.
  17. Yeah....but isn't that worth it? All the fps issues and too many objects limit will be "alleviated" at least by a fair margin. Why not do this now as edge is still being developed than postpone it again.
  18. rigid body collisions. Projectile impact. Fragmentation and rag doll physics.
  19. They can't use the Physx SDK without trademarking it Physx and limiting it to Nvidia cards. Besides...exclusivity...is just not something they can afford with such a niche market. I think the priority comes down to usage of multi core/multi threads in the next engine. That will perhaps greatly enhance performance and quality of DCS. Sobek, I understand ED is capable of making their own physics system (considering the amazing FMs ED has already made). But, why not license things like Havok for effects? Would tremendously help them. Havok probably has a huge library of existing templates/examples and is highly customizable.. and very very resource efficient. Like one time ED was considering Speedtree. I wonder what happened to that. Would definitely make terrain more like ARMA and pretty detailed.
  20. If its Physx...no way it will be allowed to run on a non-geforce card. Running it on CPU is just too much. The old demos used to allow comparing CPU vs GPU and a CPU just can't handle everything. You need GPU acceleration. This is where the other third part non affiliated physics engines come in: Havok, DMM, Euphoria etc etc.
  21. I think more than scratches...real physical birds flying to go along with the slider would be amazing. :p And yes please... rain drops, snow.. also rooster tails from wheels on runway in rainy take off/landings.
  22. Problem is physx is nvidia only....however, I think it would be amazing and just insane if ED licensed HAVOK and Euphoria for EDGE. I mean imagine GTA 4 style physics for infantry, ground vehicles physics, all the freaking demolition and debris we want at smooth frame rates...and ED can layer that with their in house AFM etc. Now thats a true next generation Eagle Dynamics simulation.
  23. Also IIRC...the F-18C, Mig 31 damage model is not implemented yet? The plane just goes down in fire without any damage model.
