  1. It seems to me that you are mixing 2 things here: datalink and gps. These are 2 different things. GPS is for navigation, while Datalink is a combination of Link16 and MIDS radio and is meant for exchanging data among other aircrafts which are in the same network. But since Datalink also requires GPS to be sync-ed, I suppose that's why you can only turn MIDS on, after alignement is complete. Thats how I understand that, but I might be wrong.
  2. DataLink (DL) and Map Power Switch (MAP; top right on the same panel) switches are not in use in Block 50.
  3. As far as I know, the only thing that has recently changed is functionalty of the MIDS switch, which you have to put from OFF to ON after the alignment is done (not before) for Datalink to work. So move the MIDS switch to ON, after putting the INS switch to NAV mode.
  4. Thats why we are here, with constructive criticism Ugra can improve the map, I have not a single doubt about it. What we have now its only the 1st early access version.
  5. @-Rudel- can you guys add the map names into the R_NAV_data.lua file? Thats all we need to use RSBN and ARC navigation for Mig-21, which really needs something like that for navigate around vast terrains. So the Maps_Table of it would look like: Maps_Table = { "Caucasus", "Nevada", "Normandy", "PersianGulf", "TheChannel", "Syria", "Kola", "Falklands", "Afghanistan", "Iraq", "GermanyColdWar" } -- Can you also add new *.lua files for actual RSBN and ARK content, so the map structure would look like: Thx a lot, I really appreciate it.
  6. Check it out here:

  7. For the last two days I was working hard to gerther and put all the data on the paper of the RSBN navigational system for Germany Cold war map. I was really surprised how many air bases Russians have made (or adjusted to their needs) after the WWII in the span of 20-30 years on such small erea as is East Germany. There are over 60 air bases, which is incredible number, I doubt that the dencity is bigger any where else in the world. In the rsbn file for Mig-21 there are all the air bases included which were/are there in real life on the East Germany in Phase 1. I also added few more air bases which in real life didn't have the RSBN beacon, these are all the rest of air bases which have tarmac runways. I didn't work anything on the ARK yet, just so you know. So, which channels are included for the phase 1 (note: there are few airports on the far east which are already on the list, but not yet implemented into DCS, will come later in phase 2 or 3): - from channels 4 to 40: air bases with RSBN real life beacon - from 41 to 62: air bases without RSBN becon in real life Here is the Kneeboard which you will also see in the cockpit: -- How to install it: Simply unzip the content of the file into main folder DCS World OpenBeta. There is one file you guys have to edit, because I don't know how many maps do you guys have, so you have to do it by your self: Inside the folder: ...\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Cockpit\Systems edit the R_NAV_data.lua by adding this line of text: "GermanyCW" some where inside the brackets, I added it at the bottom. Just don't forget to add the comma after the penultimate map name and no comma after the last map name! This is my example: Maps_Table = { "Caucasus", "Nevada", "Normandy", "PersianGulf", "TheChannel", "SinaiMap", "Syria", "Kola", "GermanyCW" } ATTENTION: with editing this file, you will break the Integrity Check (IC) in the multiplayer, offline will work normally. If you want to use multiplayer, you will have to remove the map's name from the R_NAV_data.lua file. I hope the devs include these 2 things in the near future to be part of the DCS game so we can use RSBN navigation online as well. -- NOTE for all: if you find any issue please let me know here, so I can fix it. RSBN Germany CW.zip
  8. Can't be, sorry. Map needs to be the same for everyone.
  9. Will there be Germany in today's update? Can't be (but I took a day off for tomorrow anyway)
  10. It's not in bold, but it's in white (at the bottom of the mission's loading screen) I don't care either if it simulates the real thing or not, I don't know how real thing even works exactly. Point is, that's beliveable, and that it makes sense; and that it works of course
  11. I was also kidding. Even F-35's systems base on well known (publicly available) principles, they only raised the bar to a higher level. So even if some guessing is needed to use, you won't miss much I suppose.
  12. What I miss on this map are the mountains. I wish so much to have the Alps included oneday.
  13. I hope not.
  14. but you get a numerous variations of colors of the sea for that. Which is also something, right?
  15. I suppose the 200GB is a total size, including phase 3.
  16. Maybe a bit too picky, but wouldn't it be cool if some taller structures like the chimneys would colapse sideways down to the ground, actually falls like a tree?
  17. ED only has to provide a new file. It has to be there, else IC fails. Thats all regarding RSBN. Not so sure about PRMG. But I guess it uses same files.
  18. RSBN is pretty simple to implement, I did it my self for SA and Kola, but since files are not part of the game, the IC fails. Here; DISK:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Cockpit\Systems a new lua file for particual map has to be created, and also the map name has to be added into a common file for navigation (R_NAV_data.lua).
  19. I also hope navigational system like RSBN will be fully implemented into 1st release, its a must for Mig-21.
  20. Depends on the weight. If fully loaded, its quite hard to make it fly. I always start with afterburnets (just some times for the test sake and clean, without it). Speed up to 170-190 knots then slowly start to pull the stick back until the front end of the plane wil starts to pull up. And hold the stick there until all wheels are off the ground, then keep the nose up between 5-10deg. Don't forget to gear-up at that moment (or before reaching 300 knots). When you reach 300 knots, then go out of afterburners.
  21. Whats he trying to tell you @Muchocracker that F-35 is out of this world, and it's systems doesn't base on any princilpes we know here on earth. If so, ED really can't get out of 0,9% of accuracy and it's all pointless. But just in case if not... who knows
  22. How do you find the multithreading working in DCS? This is how all 8 cores (and 16 threads, for OS means 16 cores) work atm while flying in DCS. For me it looks like all the work do 3 cores, 3 more for some 50% work, and all the rest 10 are more or less idling.
  23. Most of them, they say!
  24. F-16 is definitely ok. It's a shame I can't use it against mighty Mig-31. I know it's hard to debug such issues, in case if you find it,
