@Scrape, Thanks! I was one of the people that wanted 4 HARMS, if it's not used operationally then we shouldn't have the four HARMS period. If two is all that is carried by the USAF then that's all we should have in-game, anything more than that would invalidate the F-16 as a simulation aircraft, how can it work if there is no wiring for smart weapons on those stations? It can't be justified.

[SPI RELATED]How do I use the Maverick?
SmoglessPanic replied to jonsky7's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
One quick question I've had and kept forgetting to ask. Wags turns on the laser in his video, this is strictly so that the TGP can get ranging information right? I normally fire the laser even when I'm using dumb bombs to get ranging information (quick burst), it might not be modeled but I heard somewhere it helps with dumb bomb accuracy. Also: I noticed if you switch to "area mode" on the H and K Mavs and then SOI the weapons page the you can lock and fire after the handoff is completed in PRE-mode, I need to do more testing I was only able to try a few times last night. -
[SPI RELATED]How do I use the Maverick?
SmoglessPanic replied to jonsky7's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
In Pre-Mode the crosshairs on the Mav Weapon display page are disappearing and the Mav is not firing or locking for me after the handoff is completed by the TGP. I did notice that the non IR Mavs tend to lock in Area mode more than they do in any other mode for me when I get the handoff crosshairs disappear issue, not sure if anyone is experiencing the same. I read just now that seeker range is 9nm, maybe that's it. Thought I would share the issue that I'm experiencing on here just in case. -
Excellent. Thank You!

None of the new Mavericks are laser guided, right? I tried to check the variants online and none seemed to be laser guided so I decided to ask. Thanks

[LATER IN EARLY ACCESS] Can't add 4 Harm's in Mission Editor
SmoglessPanic replied to Kayos's topic in Wish List
[LATER IN EARLY ACCESS] Loading 4 HARMS I'm unable to load more than two HARMS, from what I understood ED is going to allow us to use four HARMS on the Viper. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have the two that I have, seriously, no gripes. I just wanted to check to see if that's going to be made available with the next patch or if perhaps I am doing something wrong. Thanks -
ALIC Tables for the AGM-88C HARM (.pdf and Kneeboard)
SmoglessPanic replied to AstonMartinDBS's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Thanks! -
I would've taken two HARMS as long as we also reduced the number of Mavericks, seemed only right for some reason.
-
Yeeesss, Thanks Wags!!
-
All right then, good enough for me. Thanks Wags

I could've sworn the Viper can carry Four HARMS, why only two? I'm cool with a center tank and refueling it's actually how I use my Viper, maximize load-out through use of the tankers.
-
Why would you want 6 Mavericks? Mavericks are awful, they make you so vulnerable and you have to get so close. I'm on the side of make it like the real Viper, ED won't model extra damage, you know how long that would take? It's how the plane was meant to be used, if you carry 6 Mavericks your Viper should be slow as all hell and a sitting duck to anything you want to shoot those Mavericks at. HARMS, HARMS, HARMS, HARMS. That's what we need to be discussing when it comes to the Viper, not Mavericks the A-10 primary weapon. My two cents, take it for what you will.

LMAO :thumbup::thumbup:

I voted for HARMS first, it's just not enjoyable to get beat up by SAM before I can get in there with dumb bombs. NO, I don't want to fly a damn Hornet. I want to fly a SEAD Viper. I can wait on the other stuff just please, please, let me kill some SAMS.
-
Agreed. I got the basic hang of AAR in the Su-33, then moved on to the Hornet. I absolutely hate the basket. Once the F-16 rolled around it was easy as pie.
-
Took a break for a couple weeks and see Mavericks aren't in yet. This would've been a worthwhile wait if it was something more useful like I don't know HARMS? Just venting....soon, soon. It's funny because I thought the Hornet guys were being unreasonable when the Viper came out and their much more fleshed out Hornet hit the back seat for a bit. I understand why they got up in arms now but at the same time I have to remember that I was thinking that they were being a bit selfish/overreacting seeing how they had so many more systems. I keep reminding myself about that feeling I had and this is why I keep my mouth shut...mostly...sometimes you have to vent a bit. I get it though, our time is coming but I wont fly the Hornet though, they talked too much crap...LOL

Warbirds / Mustang FM Questions: Development
SmoglessPanic replied to SmoglessPanic's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Art-J, This is exactly what I waned to know, appreciate it very much. I appreciate the history lesson. Thanks! -
I've had the Mustang for a while and love it, I picked up the Jug and I read post over there stating that the Warbirds in DCS were developed by another developer who went belly up and then ED completed the development. (Not sure if from scratch or part-way) I wanted to ask anyone with knowledge of this if they could explain to me what happened back then. Also, is the flight model that much different than the Jug? They were saying there was a difference. (perhaps how it was developed?) This was all before my time in DCS, I would love to learn a bit about the history of the Warbird modules in DCS. Thanks!

Greg's Airplanes is an AMAZING channel, been subbed to him for a while, dude knows his stuff.

I'm starting to understand her now, I have to constantly trim no matter what the situation is. I have to say she is incredibly fun to fly due to that, she feels...organic. (horrible term I know lol) It's tough when all you have to face are the AI 109-K4 UFO's from the Instant Action missions but after a couple of days it's starting to come together. I'm not sure if I will ever be good (I'd be happy with OK) but one thing is certain, it's a Jug load of fun! The Jug is unlike any other Warbird, what an unique DCS ride. Kudos ED!
