The TPOD has a self protect mode, so if you leave it on, it will turn itself off when it gets too hot and stay off until it cools down. Now I can't remember if you need to cycle it off and back on to get it to work again once it's cooled off.

How to use the FLIR in conjunction with Mavericks?
LTRMcrew replied to LeCuvier's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
hmm I never thought of using the F with a TPOD... so it transfers the target info to the mav then once designated by the TPOD? And then the mav IR page will slew to that target? -
does LSHIFT+V auto set the baro? such a chore scrolling for long ways if the pressure is quite off from standard...
-
In that position I've calculated out to be approximately 20-25 seconds ish. Based on your position and the speed of the SA-10 missiles. With maneuvering though you extend that time.

The L Bar does indeed retract even when down currently. I tried it yesterday, you can hear an audible click as it flips up.

Known issue yes, but they've never said why it's happening; sounds like they may know now why so they know what to change to make it stop.

Also, if I remember correctly, even thought the tpod looks at the waypoint you can still move it from there to find the target. But it's certainly handy for getting you in the right spot to start your search.

Good ol' Canadians! Darn spot light for those bloody Russian bears being annoying along the arctic. Interesting he uses it for the tpod, I find mpcd with tpod is easier to use... maybe i'll try the green screens again...
-
Good to hear they have a culprit in the Carrier sliding and actively pursuing the perp.
-
Well it does suck having to relocate the targets... but it's fairly easy with the triangle in the hud.

try the repair for sure, doesn't take very long. Also, make sure to empty out the shader folders. And keep trying... sometimes I need to close the app on task managers several times to get it to start properly.

GB what would the "normal" or trained up pattern be for each of the following in regards to DDI use, i.e. what is initially trained as standard ops to have what screen on which ddi?: 1. A/A - RDR attack in right ddi [since that's where the system seems to default it], SA on mpcd, and stores on left ddi? 2. A/G - FLIR on mpcd (for contrast), SA on right ddi, stores on left ddi 3. Generally nav cruise - HSI on right ddi, fpas on left ddi, ew on mpcd? Obviously i'm just throwing this at the wall as generalities. Thanks!

Yes, the missile just stares straight until you tell it to do otherwise.

So to clarify as my head is now swirling with numbers; you would have to do TWO passes currently? You can only assign a "rack" to a target? i.e. the rack can only retain one target position.

Quick should be easy to answer questions: when planning the drop, is the pipper point the start of the dispersion? i.e. if I want to hit say three trucks in a row, do I place the pipper just in front of the 1st truck? or on the middle truck and it disperses 'around' the pipper point? Note I always use the about 400 kts and about 25-30 degree dive method.

Adding to what GB says above; I'm RL pilot but not of hornets (B1900 biggest I've flown) what I do prior to launch (and this probably deviates from RL, GB may correct me) but I check 4-5 spots. First I check the warning panel left of the UFC, this should be black/ blank, this is where you would notice L BAR lit in green indicating status is not as it should be. Then I check the bottom of the left ddi for warnings. Check trim is set via right ddi. Then I do a quick left right view of my wings (easy to do with head tracking obviously). Then verify that's the position of the wing fold handle and it's locked. Then eyes down to the warning panel below it, this should be blank/black. This would be called a "flow" in civilian flying as your eyes and/or hands flow over the panels in a controlled and predictable manner.

^^^ Must be a Canadian thing eh?
-
i use it quite a bit, I have head tracking so it's easy to glance down at it or lean in on it. I like how the mpcd has better contrast when using the TPOD so I use it for that quite a bit.

I believe I've read that the super hornet or even later model of the legacy raise automatically after launch, i.e. the switch is electrically moved. Which may be causing some confusion.

Helping to stop re-occuring headaches after updates
LTRMcrew replied to unltd's topic in General Bugs
Nice list, thanks. -
i wish we had a button to press to set altimeter like fsx 'b'

You may also have seen a Super Hornet which has an extra station on each wing because the wings are bigger than our model.

hmm I wonder if the act of changing freq is what did it? or the mav is only liking the default code? I'm also having massive issues with the E. cool down mav, mav on ddi, go to tgp, designate target, fire laser (laser code confirmed same on laser and mav) mav ddi soi, IN RNG, uncage, it searches... and searches... and searches... never does find the laser spot. Aircraft is aligned, I'll even fly directly at target so the "arrow" is passing right by where the target is.

I'm guessing here but maybe when you call inbound the crew will vacate the landing area and only be present on cat 1/2.

if you're too low the "meatball" is under the ifols essentially so you'll need to climb a bit to get the meatball back in the rack.
