  1. I've been having an issue with DCS where the screen freezes but the sound remains live. Generally this is happening when entering a slot or after dying and pressing ESC to select slot again. I haven't been able to pin point where exactly this is happening, but it's happening fairly often and requires Task manger to close DCS and restart. Log attached. I only fly the hornet so i'm not sure if it's specific to that or not. dcs - Copy.zip
  2. Because some of us just got into DCS and the yet another charge so soon from ED on the credit card will be noticed by the admiralty brass :pilotfly::joystick: :helpsmilie:
  3. If the missile went active as soon as you launched it, they will get an RWR spike and that is reasonable for them to pop chaff.
  4. Glad to hear it's fixed as I was having the same late shoot que as well... but what a bizarre reason for it to break/ fix itself...
  5. Probably mostly mission planners in RL. The "pick order" for the ordnance is probably made long before the pilot ever gets their brief on the mission. Dumb bombs are WAAAAAAAAAY cheaper and can be deployed quite rapidly. Turn in CCIP on target, pickle, instead of having to scan on the pod. Wiki: MK-82 Unit cost $2,082.50 vs GBU-12 (Laser guided version) Unit cost US $21,896 CAP you'll want 2-3 fuel tanks for loiter time over the area then amraams and or sparrows (again cost comparison in RL). CAS - personal preference, I like GBU12 with the laser pod, needs laze to impact though (lightning) or the GBU38 (GPS guided, fire and forget with the pod). Also, depending on mission, may want some rockets for when your JTAC (if there is one) calls in danger close suppression. SEAD use AGM88 anti radar missiles. Almost always have sidewinders on wings and sparrows or amraams on underbody (can't remember correct term) stations. CAS and SEAD you may need/want tanks as well... depends on distance, tanker availability, etc. For specific missions this may change as well, such as JDAM's with PP (pre planned) targets. Everyone has your concerns... we just get comfortable with some weapons as opposed to others.
  6. having the same issue although mine was Generators... several of them.
  7. You need to turn engines off for repair to begin, then there's a delay with a countdown in top right "Wait 170 sec for repair"
  8. If I remember correctly, don't you just hit exit... it will always give you the fly again option... or is it not even giving you the option to move on to mission 14. Also, have all the parameters been met, maybe even needing to RTB, etc? Just trying to help and don't know definitively. I hear ya though it WOULD be frustrating.
  9. I'm using the Microsoft Sidewinder ForceFeedback 2 as well. I use the numpad with my left hand right next the stick. This is my poor mans TDC etc. 2, 4, 6, 8 are the TDC, Enter TDC depress. Then 1,3,7,9 is my sensor control switch (on the f18 stick). 5 is view reset for opentrack, plus is wide/narrow on the Tpod, / * are zoom in and out. - is also still up for grabs. Hat switch on my stick is the trim. I use undesignate/NWS for one of the two thumb switches, and actually still haven't assigned the other, but with this TWS I may go with cage/uncage for the other switch (useful for boat approach as well). Bottom/base buttons are comm1 and comm 2, and speed brake out and speed brake in.
  10. If you set the code on the bomb for the drop it should guide itself onto target via the JTAC laser?
  11. I have this as well, where using the FLIR to detect armour amongst the trees, then once bomb blast it goes all dark and requires switching to TV to see anything. I would think though that this isn't a bug? I don't know how the RL FLIR works but if you take any optical lens (including our eyes) make it dark and then blast it with a bright light it over saturates... even NVG's. Generally they return to normal and/or adjust to the new light level. Which when using FLIR around burning hulks you can't see anything then slew to the side of the flame and you can see again. This might just be 'normal'.
  12. From what I can gather, it is somewhat random (at least to the users); they seem to be implementing it in a beta on beta... to test it out.
  13. Wow @earnil great explanation!
  14. I do not use curve for my throttle. I like having the direct control. When banking the hornet it needs a lot more juice when in landing config at AoA, off memory i'm talking like 80%ish to maintain altitude. Then need to remember to remove that extra when going wings level. In the groove I'm moving the throttle (again this is muscle memory as I'm at work right now) between maybe 40-80% with "finer" movement in the 50-70% area. The movement is constant so it would be like 50 to 70 to 60 to 70 to 45 to 70 to 80 to 50 to 60 for example. The throttle basically doesn't stand still. I've also found it easier to once set up for AoA to never move the stick pitch forward and back, just don't, resist, as it will muck up the whole balance. Left and right bank ONLY once on AoA. It's essentially the same movements for AAR (Air to Air Refueling) other than the AoA and dirty bits out. But keep the throttle moving, there's no sweet "spot" only a sweet range. And for the love of god relax your hand. This is by far the most influential but also the hardest thing to remember. When I find myself overcorrecting for AAR I'll think of my grip and sure enough I'm white knuckling it. Relaaaaaaax almost finger tip the stick. I'm not sure which resource I read it from but make much smaller movements than you think are necessary (credit might be @104th_mavrick). I'll repeat in my head "smaller movements than you think are necessary and relaaaaaax".
  15. That shouldn't be too difficult as Flight Sim has had it for quite some time with the GSX Ground crew marshalling you to the gate. What will/would be cool is if the ground crew reacts to our inputs. So when they signal wings spread which I believe I saw, we spread, then launch bar down etc. Also, on landing will they signal hook up, fold wings, etc, and marshal us to an empty parking spot?? :pilotfly::joystick:
  16. Have you tried the Repair option? instead of Update, use the Repair (I think it's an exe) same folder.
  17. Is 4864 MB the recommended size? or is that what he had and is too small? Sorry I can't seem to find the answer in the forum you linked to. Also, I noticed Win10 has an auto option, would that be best to use? Thanks! This is what I was looking for: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=230471
  18. I also struggled with this mission. The best tactic I found that actually worked was orbiting until the SEAD flight pushes. Then tuck in behind them about 5 miles in trail. The cruise missiles from ships do their thing (hint: use F6 and watch these land pretty cool, two per target). Then SEAD does their thing and you push hard AB on the helos. You can usually get bombs away BEFORE the MIGS engage. Now it's a shat show fight with the Migs you and wingman. Do what you can to NOT die (obvs) and try and make for feet wet. As said above once you get the Migs feet wet they get wrecked by the Cats. It is a difficult mission, but it's like the "final boss" it should be hard.
  19. + 1 Gajillion :pilotfly:
  20. I found that auto was hard to get pinpoint accuracy. The slewing of the "dot" doesn't seem finite so when targeting a mobile HQ with various trailer, even when wanting the middle of the pack I found it jumped from side to side of the camp rather than being able to move slowly from one trailer to the next. On a side note, how much does wind affect our ordinance? I usually note the wind during the mission brief and then make a mental note of what side of the target to place the reticle... but it doesn't seem to be affected. I'm talking dumb bombs.
  21. Has the "auto" been activated? I don't believe it has as it's never worked correctly for me, but that could be user error.
  22. Check out the below, should work for you.
  23. Roger that, I did notice the word "export" in the title but I plead ignorant and have no idea what that is... I'll see myself out. :)
  24. I don't understand where the bug lies? Night mode is for night... when it's dark (I'm not being sarcastic). I just did a night ops in the hornet and it was very dark out so having night mode on the ddi's helped with the night vision. edit: however, if your room is "lit up/ bright/ not dark" yes night mode won't "do" as it's too dim. But I think it's modeled correctly to the aircraft and not to us using it?
  25. I always do full stop up procedures on the first flight of the "session". I don't use random failures for two reasons 1. I don't fly enough to need the distraction, I want to play the game... err simulator... and let's be honest "blow shat up". 2. I'm a pilot RL and "random" failures in sims (lots of FSX time) the failures are way to often compared to RL. RL does have issues but generally minimal in nature, sure you could get an engine failure but in my experience (I've never had one, worst I had was gear failure which was eventually sorted and got it out) engine failures are 1 in a huge number. My airline would have 1 engine failure in many years. Good mechanics I guess and gentle pilots? I do enjoy the immersion of the full start up and checks etc, but mid battle i'll cheat and get going again 'simulating' that I did the check on the first flight. But to each their own. Why criticize someone for getting rolling before you... if you enjoy the full on checks every spawn, enjoy, don't worry about the others.
