  1. Ok I did a free flight and with the TWCS Throttle and I didn't really see any improved FF accuracy with negative curves. Merely having throttle set to Slider and curves at 0 seemed to be the most consistent to my untrained eyes.
  2. You're a gentleman and a scholar my friend. I'll try this out! (I suddenly REALLY want a blackhawk module so I can aar with a helo lol )
  3. No issues with it, but I've been flying 109s in il2 for years. I'm probably just used to it. Wouldn't know what to do with myself if I got a f16
  4. The AI mig15, mig21, and F-5 have really bad flight models. They are basically little ufos that ignore energy states and gravity.
  5. Sorry if this is too obvious and doesn't help, but does it center when you cage the hud?
  6. I'm not trying to be a dev apologist or fanboy, but the f18 and 16 are already the greatest sims in existence, and ed has a track record of actually improving their products but also missing deadlines and having many delays. Of all the games I currently follow and have followed in the past, I'm the least worried about Ed's f-18. That's just me though
  7. Pitch and roll axis curves sound good. Can you elaborate, why the slider and why negative value for the throttle? And oh my goodness why the curve for the rudder? I mainly fly rw so curving a rudder sounds like crazy town to me. Please elaborate :)
  8. If you're just getting ONE, then hands down the F/A-18C. If someone told me I could only keep either the F-14 or the F-18, I'd flush the F-14 off my hard drive in about a half second, and mind you I really really like Heatblur's F-14. The F-18 can do air to air fantastically, it can do the silly 1v1 guns only dogfights fantastically, AND it has far better options for air to ground than the F-14. Beyond that, the carrier landing physics of the F-18 are better and quite challenging, while the F-14 is a bit simplified currently which lets you basically flop onto the carrier without even trying (not that the Tomcat isn't difficult to fly, it is, but landing is silly easy). There's just more options available to the F-18, and I personally think ED has better quality across the board in the F-18 and F-16 than the F-14. That being said, if you really love DCS you're going to end up getting the F-14 and the F-16, and all the others. Even though I'm pretty committed to only using naval jets, I have an itch for the F-16 and will probably get it eventually.
  9. I don't think I'm very good at finding good curves so I just used Chuck's curves from his hornet guide I think. Can't recall, might be 21 curve on both x and y.
  10. It came off the rail and dropped? No ignition? lol well that sucks
  11. Hey all, thanks for the support and info! Much appreciated. Someone asked what throttle I use. I have it listed: TWCS Throttle (the inexpensive thrustmaster throttle, $60ish). I don't approach from the 6 anymore, I did learn that bit lol. My problem is still PIO. After gently banking in from the observation point, I begin lining up as best I can, and so far it's pretty common for me to get into a bit of PIO which puts me into wake which screws everything up. But perhaps it's not wake so much as just regular turbulence because it certainly isn't perfectly smooth flying even if I'm where I'm supposed to be right by the basket. I'm bumped around ever so slightly. I'm so freakin tense the entire time, which is why the transfer rate got to me lol. I know from my (sim) piloting experience with choppers that I have to relax and let the jet feel like an extension, but that just takes more practice I suppose. For now I'm basically flexing the entire time , so tense. So tense.
  12. Batumi Dispatch and Dubai Dispatch are fun huey single missions you can download. They are infinite medical transport missions that give you lots of practice landing in tight areas and using some rudimentary navigation
  13. It's quite nice, like a luxury bus. ;)
  14. I just got the gaz in the helo bundle. I can't add anything constructive to the flight model and bugs at this stage in the module's life and with news of the Kiowa etc. Plus I've only had one flight lol. But I want to add how utterly lame and sad it is that there's not Instant Action mission for the Persian Gulf. The friggin community A4E has Persian Gulf instant action missions. Lol..... I'm worried about the Kiowa but I wish you all the best. I enjoy small scrappy companies (just not lazy companies. Don't be lazy)
  15. F-14 will be a very large difference in experience to the F-18 and F-16. It has no fly by wire, and it has a terrible HUD. The F-14 isn't "complete" either, but yes it's probably more complete than the F-16, but it is also a simpler aircraft. The community loves to poop on ED and high five heatblur's F-14, but I think the F-18 is far better than the F-14. Regardless of the ED vs HB stuff, you need to consider more things than which one is more feature complete. The F-16 has no carrier operations, is currently fairly incomplete, but behaves very similarly to the F-18, and probably has a phenomenal flight model. The F-14 is going to be a shock if you haven't flown a helo or a warbird, and the carrier landing isn't as accurate as the hornet. But the F-14 is a powerful air to air platform.

    helo bundle

$35 to complete my helo modules (mi-8 and gaz). Darn good price. Mi-8 is amazing. Gaz is eh... ok. Gaz is pathetic for not having any Persian Gulf instant action missions. What the hell? Even the community A4E has instant action PG missions... But flying the Gaz is "ok" so far, so long as you add curves to the pitch and roll axes.
  17. Might as well get them all. The Mi-8 is really good. Ka-50 new cockpit graphics and sounds are just stunning. Out of all my modules I have the most time in the Huey, but these two redfor whirlybirds are going to be taking up some time now I think. The huey needs some love though. Huey 2 would be amazing. New cockpit, sounds, etc. Drool....
  18. They aren't doing anything on this module, aside from a few bug fixes, until the Kiowa is released. And even then I doubt it. I just got this helo with the bundle and there aren't even any Persian Gulf instant action missions lol..... even the FREE the community A4E has PG instant action missions.
  19. Screenshot dump. New lighting looks good and the hip is a fun whirlybird.
  20. More people need to post screenshots regarding this and the lighting. It's very weird that some people are saying "wow, completely different, totally improved and amazing" while others are the COMPLETE OPPOSITE saying things like "looks horrible, I don't see a difference, disappointed" etc. It's so strange how completely opposite the opinions are that I wonder if the buggy 2.5.6 isn't updating correctly across the board? I dunno, it's weird. More picy Edit: I think the new rotor sounds from within the cockpit are the best part. Sounds amazing.
  21. Takes me awhile to save up for flight sim kit. But I cam definitely recommend the gear I'm using currently if you don't have a high budget: t16000m mounted to the side on my office chair, Twcs throttle mounted on other side, mfg crosswind pedals. Getting nice pedals really helped with accurately controlling a helo. The Twcs throttle is a great throttle that I may keep using even after I upgrade my stick. It's relatively inexpensive, fairly durable, lots of buttons, and with a tiny application of silicone lube it glides very smoothly. I simply reverse the throttle direction in settings to kinda mimick collective, as pulling back for increase collective and pushing forward for lower collective is fairly close to the actual arm movement in cockpit. The flight stick I use is fine. I can land on a boat in heavy winds, on a skyscraper, or fit into a narrow street. It reads very precise inputs for the price. I wish I could afford one of the big boys, but the t16000m is honestly quite good
  22. I finally got it figured out enough to get the thing in the thing, and hold it for about 20 seconds. Then I looked at my fuel page and was super irritated at the slow transfer rate and lost my groove, disconnected, reconnected several times but couldn't hold for very long. Very difficult, but I'm happy with my progress so far. But I'm wondering, do most people have wake turb off? It seems to make aar much more difficult lol.
  23. Future of dcs I think looks bright. They are very smartly updating their older modules. As hardware improves, they will likely continue to update all of their existing modules to keep them current. When there's no good jets, choppers, or warbirds left to produce they will have a lot of time in refinement, core updates, maps, campaigns, etc etc. Besides, there's still lots of western non stealth aircraft they can make money off of. As the USN shifts more and more squadrons to the f35 I imagine the super hornet variants become increasingly likely to be modeled. Further, the future is unknown. New tech could be created that would make this era's stealth tech less usable, so it could be declassified and modeled.

    helo bundle

Wags said steam sale would be up Friday. I don't see it yet. I'm just curious what the deal will look like.
  25. Oh ok cool. It's a pretty helpful mode, but if it's not there it's not there! Thanks for the edumacation
