  1. Awesome. Thanks for the heads up
  2. Hey everybody, I'm not sure what this is called. Is it a cassette, flash drive, a disc? I'm not sure, but it's the settings device pilots load into the flight computer before take off and it contains their waypoint information and other things. I'm curious if this thingy saves their preferred EW settings, bomb settings for various munitions, Radar settings for the 7M and 120, etc. If so, is there any hope of getting this as a feature for the Hornet and have it in the loadout options? Like I could set up the settings file in mission editor then save the disc/cassette/whatever to my various weapons loadouts and then each time i start a mission I can have the ground crew load my custom loadout which would contain the settings for all my various weapons, CMS, and radar.
  3. If the f18c and the a-10 systems can be modeled as accurately as they are, there shouldnt be any sort of restrictions to modeling most of the AH-64A. My assumption is they are trying to get experience modeling flir first, and then need some kind of contract with the intellectual property owner. Also as a business my assumption is they know they can sell it well but they may place it in future planning to fill a product gap. Perhaps after Ed finishes the hind it'll move to the AH-1, then maybe the 64
  4. Parade detail lmao. I especially love the first pic with the rocket launcher. "Clear back blast!" *other guy jumps out of helo*
  5. Phantoms and Crusaders vs Mig 19s and 21s? Mmmmm. Throw in a dynamic campaign and I'll end up unemployed.
  6. Well crap. Oh well, tons of other awesome stuff to fill a dcs nam :D
  7. Yes, I would love an F-4, especially the carrier version. And as another user mentioned, we need a dcs vietnam to go along with it: map, units, missions, skins, and of course a dynamic campaign. Dcs should focus on Vietnam era once it gets the 18 and 16 completed. It's the best way to move forward given protected info surrounding many 4th gen aircraft and obviously 5th gen. Edit: think of all the aircraft yet to be made that are from that era and which could be used in a Vietnam map. Aside from several migs for redfor, bluefor has F-4, F-8, A-7, A-6, A-1E, FU?? The corsair... , and ED could license the community A-4 and finish fleshing it out. When was the ah-64 first flown? Near the end of Vietnam or after? You might be able to stuff the apache in there too
  8. My assumption is the D model longbow has a lot of classified systems still, but the A model without the radar has been exported enough to do a full fidelity sim. And yeah, coupled with the kiowa (or another A) the buddy lazing would be great. I wanted ED to tackle this one as they have the best helo people, but yes I also want a heatblur jester inspired AI.
  9. I just got the Ka-50 and every time I load it up I can't help but be reminded that I would be having more fun if I were flying an Apache. Between the Hornet, Blackshark, and A-10 I am absolutely confident that ya'll have the skill to create the definitive AH-64A simulation. Just please make it happen this century.
  10. Having Jester adjust radar scan ranges isn't intuitive but it gets the job done. I play exclusively single player. Maybe one day I'll take the time to go online and have some fun with others but my kids are always barreling through the house so I dunno. Point being, I have tons of fun with the F-14 in single player in the campaigns and missions etc.
  11. Heatblur X-wing module confirmed.
  12. Can you elaborate? I don't understand what you mean.
  13. Me and 2 others with the F-117 vote. Rip. :D
  14. I'm also looking at upgrading my rudder pedals (TFRP are just horrible) and would like to stay around $200, so I'm looking at this VKB T Rudders and Virpil Warbirds. I prefer helicopters but want to still comfortable use them with the F-14 and wardbirds.... I'm curious about the Differential brakes emulator with the VKB T rudders. How do you do full brake to slow down? Just a different bind or something? I think I'd go with the T rudders if I can bind brakes to the pedals or to a comfortable button somewhere on the HOTAS I suppose.
  15. Ah, amazing. Thanks a ton
  16. I'll take the ka 50 upgrade first that's fine. I just got it so it's still shiny new to me lol. But flying the ka 50 makes me constantly want an apache which isn't going to happen this century... so I look forward to the hind instead. It's just weird to me to give news that the hind is coming but then there's zero details on it. But I've only been around since last year. Maybe that's the norm?
  17. Any info on the hind? Release date? Year? Jester-like ai? Multicrew available, or required?
  18. Well when you limit the discussion to guns and in-plane fights then ww2 planes are still top dog lol. Going vertical, disengage and reengage, and employing new sidewinders makes things more realistic. Tomcat (B) not having a helmet sight or aim 9x makes it inferior to the 18 or 16.
  19. Thanks for the update. Hopefully y'all can find the time once the big things are cleared up.
  20. Makes sense. Afterburner detent keybind is really important to simulate the actual operation of the jet, at least for throttles that cost less than $500. Can you confirm it'll be added for release?
  21. The PLM switch is on the front face of the throttle. The PLM has the highest priority so it cancels the other modes when pushed. It locks on to the first thing/target it finds out to 5 nm in a very small scan area around the ADL. It is a quick lock on mode for in close dogfighting. It scans for a couple seconds then stops. Edit: you have to be pointing the ADL almost completely on top of target for PLM to work. I tend to think of it as a HUD point and click lock on method, but I'm pointing my whole jet lol. You can visually verify by selecting pal or one of the two vsl modes first so you can see the scanning diamond on your HUD, then press the Plm and you'll see the diamond disappear.
  22. This. This is needed like yesterday. Yet it's almost a year after release.
  23. The F-18 is possibly under powered and so it is robbed of its strength in a gun fight, which is low and slow. The DCS F-18 can't really go low and slow like it is supposed to, according to F-18 pilots that have commented on this sim. If you listen to the Fighter Pilot Podcast, Jello has commented that he has done training dog fights in his F-18 against F-16s, 15s, and 14s and had victories against them all. As long as you fly your jet's strengths against your opponent's weaknesses, you can win. Listening to this podcast there's been a lot of comments from pilots in dogfights saying they did a maneuver to purposely use the enemy jet's visibility to escape line of sight and surprise them. So as long as your jet is relatively capable, you can win with knowledge and skill.
  24. The stick is resting at full forward position in those videos. Like jojo said, "full pitch down." That is how it was scanned. That is why it needs corrected. Here are two pics I just took, one with flight stick resting neutral in game (which is the full pitch down position that was scanned from the real cockpit), and the other pic is me pitching full down in game which puts the flight stick basically through the screen of the HSD. The pilot's hand (if or when we EVER get a virtual pilot) and the trigger are absolutely clipping through HSD. This should be corrected. Like I said, they already acknowledged this and stated it will be corrected. Somewhere. I'm just admittedly bad at finding these posts.
  25. It's modeled too far forward, not supposed to obstruct the HSD as much as it does currently (all but requiring the pilot to disable the flight stick graphic using Backspace). I'm bad at searching but Heatblur (maybe IronMike?) acknowledged this somewhere in this forum, maybe in bugs, and that it would be corrected eventually.
